A most unusual mimetite specimen!!! Limonite acts as the matrix for discrete rosettes comprised of spheres of lustrous, translucent, light- green mimetite. The largest rosette is 1.0 cm across. The proper display side does have a small cleaved sphere in the upper right hand corner, but the overall effect of this specimen is not compromised and it is in good shape all around, otherwise. This is one of the best examples of this very rare occurrence , found just once despite 40 years of mining for specimens here. 6.2 x 4.6 x 4.1 cm
A large and super-rich specimen of green mimetite from Mexico. The mimetite was deposited in small translucent botryoids. This old-timer DOES have damage but is nevertheless a rich representative specimen. 11.5 x 10.9 x 6.6 cm
Isolated crystals and clusters of lustrous, curved, honey-brown to yellow-green mimetite variety campylite crystals to 6 mm on quartz matrix. 8.9 x 7.9 x 4.0 cm
Numerous scalenohedron Mimetites up to 1.2 cm that have fine luster and color that varies from nearly clear to a nice orange-yellow. The crystals are sharp and very attractive. An excellent example of the species. Purchased in 1975 from famed Tsumeb dealers , Miriam and Julius Zweibel. 5.2 x 4.4 x 4.3 cm
Lovely specimen consisting of numerous .6 cm crystals of Mimetite arranged in radial sprays. All the crystals have a very nice yellow color and absolutely superb luster. Naturally, the centers of sprays are contacted by their very nature. This is very aesthetic, and has to be seen to be really appreciated! It is possibly a pseudomorph after a rotund cerussite twin, as this habit of mimetite is associated with that well-known replacement at Tsumeb. Purchased from the Zweibels in 1976 6 x 4.4 x 3.6 cm
This complete pseudomorph of Tennantite after Azurite not only maintains the original shape, but it is also coated with small crystals of malachite, Dolomite, and Mimetite for sparkling accents. This is a very rare and unusual occurance! It is also an extremely attractive example of this type. Purchased from the Zweibels in 1978 3.8 x 2.8 x 2 cm
Superb single 2.2 cm crystal of Mimetite that has excellent color, good luster and striations, and is partly gemmy. Even the smaller Mimetites are excellent, and the starkly contrasting sparkly dolomite background really sets the mimetite off nicely! Aesthetic as can be – one of my favorites, and you can see why. Purchased from the Zweibels in 1978 3 x 2.6 x 2.3 cm
Sharp, euhedral cuprite crystals are quite rare from Tsumeb, and this one is a great example with associated mimetite to prove that it really IS Tsumeb and isn't rather from Onganja elsewhere in Namibia, or Zaire. The piece is complete all around and 3-dimensional. In person, when backlit, it has a cherry red glow inside and is somewhat translucent. 2.2 x 2.2 x 2 cm
A showy and aesthetic specimen of transparent barite blades jauntily perched on orange mimetite from the Bilbao Mine, Zacatecas, Mexico. A beautiful and uncommon combination piece, as barite is rare from the Bilbao Mine. I am told they came out in the 1950s. I have seen very few for sale, ever 4.8 x 4.0 x 2.8 cm
A LARGE, beautiful cluster of lustrous, tapering, yellow mimetite crystals from Tsumeb. VERY SELDOM do you see yellow Tsumeb mimetites larger than this. The back of the tip is bruised, but out of sight and one of the sidecar crystals has broken tip, but these are certainly not detracting from this significant Tsumeb mimetite. 3.1 x 0.9 x 0.7 cm
A showy Tsumeb specimen of bundles of lustrous and gemmy, yellow mimetite needles to 6 mm on a matrix of gray sugary dolomite coating calcite rhombs. The bit of malachite adds a nice accent. 4.9 x 3.5 x 2.2 cm
A beautiful and aesthetic toenail of windowpane, yellow wulfenite crystals nicely perched on mimetite-ball covered matrix from the famous San Francisco Mine of Mexico. This is a wonderful, two-sided specimen and you barely notice, that there is one broken crystal on the side. Certainly not detracting in any way. 3.0 x 2.7 x 1.7 cm
A very unusual and pretty Mapimi mimetite. The mimetite formed on the surface inside a shallow vug - you can see the light-olive botryoidal mimetite there - and then, and this small promontory, there is this flower-like bloom of bright yellow mimetite! What an aesthetic old piece! 5.2 x 4.4 x 3.3 cm
An EXCEPTIONAL, very glassy and lustrous, yellow San Francisco wulfenite crystal with smaller attached sidecar crystals and yellow mimetite balls in and on the wulfenite crystals. The major edges are pristine. A classic, large wulfenite crystal and beautiful from either side. 3.5 x 3.3 x 2.0 cm
6.5 x 3.3 x 2.2 cm. Glassy, translucent, yellow mimetite crystals richly and very aesthetically cover both sides of the narrow, two-sided willemite crust on this fine combination specimen from the Tsumeb Mine. The sharp crystals reach 1.2 cm and several of the crystals are doubly terminated, including the largest crystals. The sparkly, off-white and green willemite is a fine compliment.
