ex. Martin Lewadny
A representative, classic Wulfenite/Mimetite combination composed of transparent, lustrous orange-yellow windowpane Wulfenite and beautiful orange Mimetite balls from one of the world's best localities for the species. These are from classic late 1970s finds. San Francisco Mine Wulfies are known for their gemminess, beveled edges, and association with Mimetite.

Very nice cluster of botryoidal Mimetite from Mina Congresso in San Pedro Correlitos (1968 find). The balls of Mimetite are an attractive yellow, and the silky luster gives the Mimetite a lovely visual richness. The largest of the spheres is a 8 mm across. A quality, attractive Mimetite.

Nice twinned Cerussite with good luster and gemminess. What really make this specimen are the 2-3 mm Mimetites that are as gemmy, yellow and well-formed as you could possibly hope to find, on the matrix under it! Overall, a terrific combination piece.

Mention the combination of windowpane Wulfies with Mimetite and images of the San Francisco Mine will always pop up. This excellent specimen is no exception for this classic locality. The main 2.2 cm crystal is razor-sharp and gemmy with superb luster. The larger secondary windowpane had a bit of typical edge wear, but it is of almost no consequence because of the viewing angle. The Mimetites are an exceptionally deep orange color. This is an excellent miniature from a world-famous locality. From the Richard Hauck collection, actually, just mixed in here by accident.
9.9 x 6.6 x 1.7 cm. These fine mimetites appeared in the late 1990s, and took their place amongst the uncommon worldwide occurrences of gemmy mimetites. These Thai mimetites have an intense, almost wet luster as well, and bright orange color, making them particularly pretty. It turns out to have been a onetime find. No more came out, and pieces are uncommon today.
8.5 x 6.5 x 4.7 cm. A CLASSIC, OLD-TIME specimen of two-toned, oil-green mimetite barrels spindles richly covering quartz matrix from the famous Dry Gill Mine, Caldbeck Fells, England. The famous lead mines at Caldbeck Fells were worked out by 1876, so this fine piece is easily over 130 years old! Primary production was from the 1840s-60s. Ex Steven Chamberlain and Hamilton College Collections.
2.7 x 2.3 x 1.5 cm. A gemmy and glassy, 1.4 cm, orange-brown wulfenite crystal aesthetically perched upright on matrix and nicely accented by tiny mimetite needles from Tsumeb.
5.7 x 5.4 x 3.1 cm. A rich plate of bright yellow (brighter yellow and less green in person) Arizona mimetite. Buried amongst the profusion of mimetite microcrystals are small, tabular, gemmy yellow wulfenite crystals. This lead-mineral combo is classic from Arizona.
9.7 x 7.4 x 6.2 cm. Mimetite of this form is classic from this locality, but this is from a NEW find at this legendary old mine! These are bushy clusters of yellow (with a slight greenish hue) mimetite on a matrix of limonite.
9.2 x 7.7 x 3.0 cm. Super glassy and gemmy, straw-yellow mimetite needles to 1.0 cm RICHLY cover sugary dolomite matrix on this excellent specimen from Tsumeb. Ex. George Elling Collection.
4.5 x 4.0 x 2.6 cm. Here we have a very aesthetic specimen from this classic Wulfenite locality. It features a very attractive golden orange, gemmy, tabular crystal group of Wulfenite aesthetically sitting on reddish-orange Mimetite on matrix. These pieces are becoming increasingly difficult to obtain these days, and they are truly some of the most impressive Wulfenites from any world locality.
4.2 x 4.0 x 2.3 cm. A beautifully showy, heart-shaped specimen RICHLY covered with sparkly and gemmy, tan mimetite crystals and nicely accented by malachite on this excellent Tsumeb piece.
12.5 x 10.5 x 6.0 cm. Kottigite is a VERY RARE mineral from the famous Mina Ojuela and this showy CABINET combo specimen has at least 10 sprays of lustrous, grayish blue kottigite associated with a centrally located, 5.5cm, water-clear selenite on botryoidal mimetite-coated gossan matrix. Kottigite is related to legrandite, of which, Mina Ojuela is renowned. From the stock of Ed Swoboda. The last major find of kottigite at Mina Ojuela was in 1974 and remains a classic that is difficult to acquire in fine specimens.
7.9 x 5.6 x 4.2 cm. A NEW find from a classic old mine - botryoidal mimetite, in a vug in limonite matrix - distinguished by a color that is closer to GREEN than the traditional yellow (despite the fact that the photo seem to be more yellow).
5.8 x 5.5 x 5.0 cm. A very showy and unusual, coral-like, branching specimen of radial clusters of sparkly, blades and club-shaped crystals of bayldonite on tan mimetite from Tsumeb. A VERY INTERESTING and excellent combo piece form Tsumeb. The bayldonite is an oxidation alteration product of the mimetite. Ex. George Elling Collection.
