BEM-42 - Microlite - SOLD Amelia Courthouse, Amelia County, Virginia, USA miniature, 4.6 x 3.3 x 2.9 cm
Microlite from this classic US locality is very rare in any quality, especially above thumbnail size. This is a shockingly large crystal for the locality, very sharp, and with most faces complete. It has damage on one face on one side, and a few contacted faces, but is otherwise complete. ex. American Museum of Natural History , Clarence Bement collection.
MD-118135 - Microlite - - Archived Alto do Jacu, Equador, Borborema mineral province, Rio Grande do Norte, Northeast Region, Brazil small cabinet, 7.0 x 5.5 x 4.3 cm.
7.0 x 5.5 x 4.3 cm. A RARE, GREEN, 1.4 cm, gem microlite crystal jauntily set in albite matrix from an UNCOMMON Brazilian - Alto do Jacu, Equador, Rio Grande do Norte. The green color is a rare aluminum-rich varietal. There are a couple of scattered "normal" golden amber microlites on the albite. Ex Fred Pough Collection., formerly thought to be bismutomicrolite.
MD-150463 - Microlite, Lepidolite, Elbaite - - Archived Paprok, Nuristan Province (Nurestan; Nooristan), Afghanistan miniature, 4.8 x 1.8 x 1.5 cm.
4.8 x 1.8 x 1.5 cm. A VERY RARE and BEAUTIFUL combination specimen from Paprok, Afghanistan. Two, lustrous, sharp, intergrown, octahedral, brown microlite crystals are very nicely attached to the base of a very glassy and lustrous, parallel-growth, pastel-pink tourmaline crystal, which has a light blue zone, just below the matte termination. The microlites are aesthetically associated with pearlescent, tabular, purple lepidolite crystals. Microlite is a rare tantalum oxide and this is a SUPER and SHOWY pristine combo piece.

MD-21663 - Microlite, Lepidolite - - Archived Urubu mine (Vulture mine; Uruba mine), Monte Belo, Itinga, Jequitinhonha valley, Minas Gerais, Southeast Region, Brazil thumbnail, 1.25 cm
The pictures do not do justice to these shimmering, lustrous, gemmy crystals (to 1.25 cm), perched on contrasting matrix. They have a golden color and internal shimmer that is simply amazing for the species and the locality. I have never seen the like. Neither had Luis Menezes, from whom I bought the best two specimens he had for sale from a very small lot obtained some months ago in Brazil. 6 x 4 x 3.25 cm
MD-21664 - Microlite, Lepidolite - - Archived Urubu mine (Vulture mine; Uruba mine), Monte Belo, Itinga, Jequitinhonha valley, Minas Gerais, Southeast Region, Brazil thumbnail, 2.5 x 2.3 x 1.9 cm

MD-22507 - Wodginite, Microlite - - Archived Linópolis, Divino das Laranjeiras, Doce valley, Minas Gerais, Southeast Region, Brazil thumbnail, 1.6 x 1.1 x 0.6 cm
A sharp, very rare crystal of wodginite from a famous find about 25 years ago, decorated as a bonus with sub-mm microlites that make for an interesting association. 1.6 x 1.1 x 0.6 cm
MD-236490 - Microlite, Albite - - Archived Ipê mine, Governador Valadares, Doce valley, Minas Gerais, Southeast Region, Brazil miniature, 4.7 x 3.8 x 3.6 cm.
4.7 x 3.8 x 3.6 cm. This solid albite specimen has a sugary sprinkle on top of jewel-like, transparent, red-orange crystals of the rare oxide Microlite. These crystals are of excellent quality, despite their small size.
MD-244260 - Microlite - - Archived Amelia (Amelia Court House), Amelia Co., Virginia, USA thumbnail, 2.4 x 1.8 x 1.5 cm.
2.4 x 1.8 x 1.5 cm. Microlite is an uncommon oxide found in albitized granite pegmatites and is the tantalum analogue of pyrochlore. The sharp, lustrous, multi-faceted, variegated, brown crystal is from a famous Virginia locale - the Amelia Courthouse. One of the last major American Civil War battles was held nearby in April, 1865. This is a nearly pristine, complete-all-around crystal from this classic locale. Ex. Carl Davis Collection.
MD-257470 - Beryl (Var: Aquamarine), Spessartine, Microlite - - Archived Shengus (Shingus), Haramosh Mts., Skardu District, Baltistan, Northern Areas, Pakistan miniature, 3.8 x 1.1 x 0.7 cm.
3.8 x 1.1 x 0.7 cm. The little orange spessartine at base gives this away as Shengus, or from the quality of the aquamarine I would think it was Shigar. Interestingly, the pristine aquamarine crystal has a nice accent: a 3mm twinned microlite hanging off the side. Ex. Laura and Stevia Thompson Collection.
MD-33924 - Tourmaline, Microlite - - Archived Konar (Kunar; Konarh; Konarha; Nuristan) Province, Afghanistan large cabinet, 16.6 x 3.7 x 3 cm
This large tourmaline has tons of colors running through the rainbow as you go up to the sharp prismatic termination. This fantastic large specimen, which is complete all around and unrepaired, was mined in 2001 and sold to Matthew Webb within weeks of it coming to the US with a friend of mine. It has been out of sight in Australia ever since, and I have never seen another like it to this day. The piece features included octohedral crystals of microlite, that are easily visible, to 7 mm in size. It would be a darned good tourmaline (and, i think, a value) by any standard for its size and condition, but the microlite inclusions take it over the top in my book. 16.6 x 3.7 x 3 cm
MD-43622 - Microlite, Tourmaline - - Archived Konar (Kunar; Konarh; Konarha; Nuristan) Province, Afghanistan thumbnail, 2.2 x 1.3 x 1 cm
One of two highly unusual association pieces I got in a recent shipment, featuring a 1.1-centimeter octohedral microlite perched on an indicolite tourmaline. The ends of the tourmaline appear to be broken and then naturally rehealed. The microlite is missing part of one corner in the rear, but otherwise is in excellent shape, particularly for being so exposed to the elements. Most unusual, as I cannot think of seeing another microlite directly on tourmaline from these localities! 2.2 x 1.3 x 1 cm
MD-49176 - Microlite - - Archived Ipê mine, Governador Valadares, Doce valley, Minas Gerais, Southeast Region, Brazil thumbnail, 2.3 x 2.2 x 2.2cm
This specimen features several transparent golden-orange crystals of the rare oxide Microlite on Albite with yellowish-green Muscovite. These crystals are some of the best quality (despite their small size) Microlite crystals you''ll find. 2.3 x 2.2 x 2.2cm

This specimen features several transparent golden-orange crystals of the rare oxide Microlite on Albite with yellowish-green Muscovite. These crystals are some of the best quality (despite their small size) Microlite crystals you''ll find. 4.0 x 3.0 x 2.5cm
MD-70650 - Microlite - - Archived Ipê mine, Governador Valadares, Doce valley, Minas Gerais, Southeast Region, Brazil thumbnail, 2.7 x 2.4 x 2.2cm
This specimen features several transparent golden-orange crystals of the rare oxide Microlite on Albite with yellowish-green Muscovite.
