4JG26 - Metatorbernite - $ 1250 SOLD Musonoi Mine, Kolwezi, Shaba (Katanga), Congo (Zaïre) thumbnail, 2.9 x 2.9 x 2.2 cm
The deep-green wulfenite-like form of these torbernites makes them one of the most eye-catching of minerals. This specimen has the classic deep green color, superb form, excellent clarity, and beautiful luster that represents the unchallenged FINEST OF SPECIES from a particular series of finds now some 20-25 years ago. The overall balance and aesthetics are terrific, making this a killer competition-level miniature by any standard. It is complete all around, too. OLD FIND - NOT FOUND IN THIS QUALITY SINCE!
BB5 - Metatorbernite with Malachite - $ 150 SOLD Musonoi Mine, Kolweizi, Shaba Province, Democratic Republic of Congo miniature, 4.8 x 3.8 x 2.9 cm

ES100 - Metatorbernite - $ 950 SOLD Shinkolobwe Mine, Katanga, Shaba Province, Zaire miniature, 5.1 x 4 x 1.6 cm ex. Ernie Schlichter
These tabular, emerald green crystals are well crystallized and are from one of the world’s top crystal producing localities for uranium mineral specimens. For torbernite, they just don't get better than this "green wulfenite" aspect! These crystals display bright METALLIC, sparkling, luster and reach over 1 cm across. They are TOP QUALITY for the species and are BETTER IN PERSON

Superb, textbook-form crystals of kasolite, nicely isolated on contrasting matrix amidst CRYSTALLIZED transparent blades of Metatorbernite ! CLASSIC association (*see MR)!
JR-12 - Kasolite and possible Masuyite (?) with Metatorbernite - $ 395 SOLD Musonoi Mine, Kolwezi, Western area, Shaba Cu belt, Shaba (Katanga), Congo (Zaïre) small cabinet, 6.6 x 3.7 x 2.1 cm
A different form of kasolite in the habit of radiating crystal aggregates; also in the presence of another, more orange-red mineral (masuyite is a likely guess although it could simply be an oddly colored second deposition of kasolite - pending analysis). Either way, a gorgeous specimen!

Superb, textbook-form crystals of kasolite, nicely isolated on contrasting matrix amidst CRYSTALLIZED transparent blades of Metatorbernite ! CLASSIC association (*see MR)!
MD-178740 - Metatorbernite - - Archived Crown King area, Bradshaw Mts (Bradshaw Range), Yavapai Co., Arizona, USA small cabinet, 7.5 x 7.0 x 1.7 cm.
7.5 x 7.0 x 1.7 cm. Sparkly, green blades of metatorbernite richly cover the matrix plate on this showy specimen from the Crown King Area of Arizona. This excellent piece was collected on July 7, 1995. Ex. George Elling Collection.
MD-195696 - Metatorbernite - - Archived Margabal Mine, Entraygues-sur-Truyère, Aveyron, Midi-Pyrénées, France miniature, 4.7 x 4.4 x 2.6 cm.
4.7 x 4.4 x 2.6 cm. A superb, classic old specimen from famous finds here in the 1970s, with robust, fat crystals showing a waxy lustre and deep green color. This is a super example for the size range, because of the quality and color saturation. Ex. Dr. Ed David Collection.
MD-201043 - Torbernite, Metatorbernite, Curite, Heterogenite - - Archived Shinkolobwe Mine (Kasolo Mine), Shinkolobwe, Central area, Katanga Copper Crescent, Katanga (Shaba), Democratic Republic of Congo (Zaïre) small cabinet, 8.5 x 6 x 4.5 cm.
8.5 x 6 x 4.5 cm. This Torbernite specimen is from the Shinkolobwe uranium mine and shows two generations. The dark green crystals of torbernite are growing on lighter metatorbernite crystals. The Torbernite are transparent dark green crystals because the water is still present in the crystal structure. The Metatorbernite appears as light green, opaque crystals because most of the water is gone. The top crystals are covered with a very thin layer of Heterogenite what gives them a black appearance, most unusual: What is noticeable here is that the Torbernite is coated with Heterogenite that prevented its dehydration. The Metatorbernite was a first generation and had all the time to dehydrate. Also present on this specimen is a cluster of Curite crystals also covered with the Heterogenite. Shinkolobwe is the type locality for Curite.
MD-201063 - Curite, Kasolite, Metatorbernite - - Archived Shinkolobwe Mine (Kasolo Mine), Shinkolobwe, Central area, Katanga Copper Crescent, Katanga (Shaba), Democratic Republic of Congo (Zaïre) cabinet, 11 x 6 x 4 cm.
11 x 6 x 4 cm. An exceptional specimen of orange Curite and Kasolite with green Metatorbernite. The curite forms needles which are filling the spaces between and sits on the huge Metatorbernite crystals. It is associated with Kasolite in blocky crystals. The matrix consists of massive Metatorbernite. Shinkolobwe is the type locality for Curite and Kasolite both.
MD-201147 - Kasolite, Metatorbernite - - Archived Musonoi Mine, Kolwezi, Western area, Katanga Copper Crescent, Katanga (Shaba), Democratic Republic of Congo (Zaïre) small cabinet, 5.2 x 3.7 x 3 cm.
5.2 x 3.7 x 3 cm. Many well formed and terminated orange crystals to over 1 mm (big for species), lining cavities in Metatorbernite. There is periphery damage on this specimen but the crystals inside the vugs are pristine. These specimens where recovered during the removal of the uranium dump in the early 1990s.
MD-20880 - Cuprosklodowskite, Metatorbernite - - Archived Musonoi Mine, Kolwezi, Western area, Katanga Copper Crescent, Katanga (Shaba), Democratic Republic of Congo (Zaïre) small cabinet, 6.5 x 4.5 x 4 cm
This gorgeous specimen features EXCEPTIONAL crystals of both species, but in particular the Cuprosklodowskite ! The Cuprosklodowskite crystals reach almost 1 inch in length and have an amazing metallic green brilliance to them, which contrasts with the darker transparent green of the torbernites (which are so sharp you can see why sometimes they turn up labeled as "green wulfenite"!). This is from old finds of this material, and dates to the 1970s I am told, in contrast to recent finds (admittedly, in quantity), much of which just didn't quite have the brilliant iridescence combined with length of the best of these older crystals. I also cannot recall seeing as fine an association of the two species in the recent finds of CS from this locality, come to think of it, clearly confirming this as an older specimen. 6.5 x 4.5 x 4 cm
MD-20881 - Metatorbernite - - Archived Musonoi Mine, Kolwezi, Western area, Katanga Copper Crescent, Katanga (Shaba), Democratic Republic of Congo (Zaïre) small cabinet, 8 x 4 x 4 cm
A brilliant and flashy specimen of shimmering green Metatorbernite crystals, that are in the classic form of wulfenite-looking squarish blades. This piece is complete all around and is MUCH better and more impressive in person, with a richness of color to it that is not conveyed in the photos. 8 x 4 x 4 cm
