An oustanding miniature, found in the early 1980’s and from veins high on the spillway cut at this dam site, these clove brown ferroaxinite crystals are among the best in the world. A glassy, doubly-terminated, approx. 1 inch, axe-edged crystal is perched on smaller ferroaxinite crystals and a matrix of epidote and ferroaxinite. 5 x 2.8 x 2.8 cm
This is one of the now-famous floater axinites, gemmy and complete all around, that came out in the late 1980s from this remote mining region. They were gone from teh market shortly after, and haven't come out since that time. They stand as being the world's finest axinite crystals of size, to my mind, for the extreme glassiness, lustre, and sharpness of form. This one is truly exceptional, one of the best for the size! 8.7 x 4.5 x 1 cm
A beautiful and pristine thumbnail of a very gemmy and lustrous, clove-brown axinite crystal perched on epidote, from the famous Jensen Quarry, near Riverside, California. Neat locality piece! 2.0 x 1.3 x 1.1 cm
Razor-sharp and amazingly gemmy, this is a premium specimen for this rare old locality, and few good thumbs have been out there to be had 2.4 x 1.4 x .4 cm
Brilliantly lustrous and gemmy, 2 cm crystal, sitting wonderfully on matrix! This is the BEST aesthetic quality you could ever ask for in an axinite! It is pristine save for an infinitesimal chip on the back edge, and qualifies as competition quality in my book. 3.2 x 2.1 x 1.3 cm
A CLASSIC, old-time Cornwall specimen of a pretty, little vug filled with gemmy and lustrous, clove-brown axinite crystals to 8 mm jauntily perched atop matrix from the famous Botallack area. Ex Richard Barstow Collection. 5.5 x 5.4 x 3.7 cm
Razor-sharp, gemmy, and with a deep brown color that gives it wonderful depth, this is a superior crystal from a very old locality. A superb quality crystal! 2.1 x 1.6 x .3 cm
Cluster of lustrous, clove-brown axinite crystals from the Obira Mine in Japan. 2.5 x 2.0 x 1.6 cm
Sharp as heck, single floater crystal from the famous finds here of the late 1980s. nice!. 2.4 x 2 x 0.6 cm
Two LARGE crystals of axinite, 5 cm in length, sharp as a razor and with good transparency (for axinite) - sticking up out of matrix. The smaller of the two crystals has a contact (where it grew against another crystal), and the larger crystal has visible edge wear, but this is still a very impressive specimen for the size, fine form and isolation of the crystals. 10.6 x 9.1 x 6.2cm
This is a highly aesthetic and amazingly beautiful display specimen from this famous part of the Swiss Alps. This piece is comprised of a pair of stunning, deep green, "chloritized" bladed crystals of Axinite forming a "wing like" shape flaring off a plate of Adularia. This piece is one of the most visual Axinite specimens you could ask for in this size range. Please note that the Axinite crystals are contacted on the reverse side of the specimen with little but it is truly not that distracting. Based upon the label, I would guess that this piece is at least 60 years old. These specimens are impossible to find in today''s market, they simply are too few and far between to pass up. A great overall Alpine specimen ! 4.0 x 3.8 x 3.2cm
A beautiful and aesthetic cluster of gemmy, lustrous and pristine, clove-brown axinite crystals from the famous Bor Pit at Dalnegorsk, Russia. Ex Sam Nasser Collection. The color and lustre are much better in person. 2.8 x 2.2 x 2.0 cm
5.2 x 4.7 x 4.0 cm. Very gemmy, all pristine, clove-brown axinite crystals to 2.3 cm set atop matrix from the West Bor Pit at Dalnegorsk, Russia.
Two, intergrown, very glassy, clove-brown axinite-(Fe) crystals. The smaller crystal is very gemmy. See the Mineralogical Record article in Vol. 13, No. 5, 1982. 3.3 x 2.8 x 1.5 cm
