This cluster of twinned feldspar crystals has to be among the largest ever recovered from the Himalaya mine, and IS one of the 2 or 3 largest specimens of any good quality. It is actually completely crysatllized all around. One side displays the associations and the other displays the clean faces of the feldspars. Really, quite impressive in person! From the hands of 3 major County collectors, too. 25 x 14.6 x 14.3 cm

This is a very sharp, gemmy, single crystal of classic, cranberry-red tourmaline from THE most famous pocket of tourmaline ever hit in Brazil (at least, in most people's opinion), back some 30 years now. It is associated with a small bit of rich purply lepidolite - the classic association for the locale. This one is complete and undamaged all around. It has the unique cranberry-red color that few tourmalines from other localities come close to. It has very high lustre and is also somewhat gemmier in person than it appears here (nearly transparent). A specimen like this, with not just the quality and color but also a matrixy aspect, is EXTREMELY uncommon. 5 x 2.1 x 1.2 cm

A striking GEM crysatl, completely transparent, of brilliant blue color. Such gemmy inidcolites are uncommon, and usually need backlighting to show off the fine blue color. Not so, here! This one glows with color in any lighting, even weak and indirect lights. 6.2 x 2.3 x 1.5 cm

A classic Himalaya mine tourmaline, with rich purple lepidolite as accents! It is complete all around, and actually DOUBLY terminated, except for a slight, hardly noticeable, very shallow conchoidal break on the back of the termination. 56 grams 5.7 x 2.9 x 2.5 cm

Most lepidolite is ancillary to gem minerals from this deposit. However, this is a large light pink composite crystal with multiple terminations. It also exhibits wonderful luster. Unusual! 3.8 x 3.2 x 2 cm

This matrix specimen came out of Brazil more than twenty years ago and is classic for the mine, with dark gren top on a chatoyant , gemmy green core. It features elbaites to 3 cm, with a .5 cm black termination above an opaque, olive green prism which emits a chatoyant appearance. Adding to the great contrast of colors are blades of lustrous, white albite up to 2 cm across on the front, but over 10 cm on the back side. In addition, the matrix of lepidolite tops off this combo specimen. THE ALBITE IS SPARKLIER AND THE TOURMALINE BRIGHTER, IN PERSON! 9.6 x 5.5 x 4.5 cm

We call these "bubblegum pinks" for obvious reason, and today they have become one of the few truly, instantly recognizable "styles" of tourmaline from the Afghani pegmatites that stand out from the vast majority of, call them, "random nice and pretty tourmaline pockets." This one is exceptional for several reasons aside from pedigree of being in this collection: it has truly outstanding, rich , juicy color; great lustre; no damage; no repairs despite its size. This thing just IMPRESSES the hell out of you, guaranteed. It is big, juicy, colorful, and leaps out even in only moderate lighting 9.6 x 5 x 3.1 cm

WOW! this utterly unique, weird tourmaline is like none I have seen before. I am told it is an older piece from the 1960s but really, cannot verify that even since I have none to compare it to. It is complete all around. 9 x 2.6 x 1.1 cm

An EXCEPTIONALLY GEMMY and THICK, green toumaline with lepidolite from the very famous Gillette Quarry in Connecticut. This piece has to be over 100 years old and the minor termination damage and side contact bruise is certainly not detracting for such an old and classic specimen. 2.8 x 1.3 x 1.0 cm

A gemmy and lustrous, 3.8 cm, watermelon-colored tourmaline nicely attached to the side of a large albite crystal, with two sides of the albite preferentially coated with lepidolite from the famous old Cruzeiro Mine. This is a large albite crystal for the locale. The pinacoid termination is nicely lustrous and a minor bruise, at the base of the crystal, is barely noticeable. This is from teh ed ruggeiro collection, circa 1970s 6.9 x 5.1 x 4.7 cm

The side of this specimen of lepidolite has been cleaved (naturally, i suspect) to show something you do not often see: an absolutely GEMMY lavender interior, clear as glass, of a nice euhedral crysatl! Considering that lepidolite is usually either sheety like common mica or a bearing a dull translucency, this is quite remarkable to see! 3.2 x 1.8 x 1.8 cm

A fat and sizeable (81-gram) Himalaya tourmaline,transparent-to-translucent, with pretty lepidolite crystals on its sides. The crystal has a fine, glassy termination. The sides are quite lustrous, all the way around. There are a couple of unobtrusive contacts in back faces lower on down, but the crystal offers several good display faces. Fine pink color and the association , and the glassy lustre atop combine to make this a superb specimen and a truly stunning miniature. 5.1 x 3.6 x 2.8 cm

An AMAZING, old-time CABINET specimen from the Himalaya Mine of two, lustrous and gemmy, watermelon-pink tourmaline crystals to 3.8 cm perched spectacularly on a COMPLETE ALL-AROUND and undamaged FLOATER feldspar crystal with quartz and lepidolite. Note how sharp and unusually symmetric the matrix feldsapr crystal is, as well?! This is the "spiker" for the week! The larger tourmaline crystal has a complex, interesting "cityscape" termination. Both are in good condition and have rich pink color. Ex Ed Ruggiero Collection, who purchased this piece from Pala Properties (the owners of the mine at the time) in 1975. The card says that this piece was mined in about 1910 and was formerly in the Jerry Wentworth Collection, according to Bill Larson at Pala. It is, regardles of history, A STRIKING matrix specimen. Valued at close to $2000, i think quite fairly. THIS IS A WHOLE FLOATING POCKET OF himalaya minerals! 14.2 x 7.9 x 5.8 cm
