ex. Martin Lewadny
Incredibly rich specimen of Lazulite, with a thick coating of crystals completely covering three sides, including the two largest surfaces! Even from a distance, you can tell that these Lazulites are a richer, more consistent blue than you normally see, and the luster is superb. One crystal is even a full 1 cm in size! There are even gemmy golden siderites here and there to accent the deep blue. A terrific specimen – from one side to the other!
4.9 x 4.0 x 2.3 cm. A cluster of deep teal-blue lazulite crystals from the prime locality, Rapid Creek in Canada. VERY lustrous and sharp! There are some accenting quartz crystals here as well. Good lazulites are always sought-after, and the supply is always uncertain.
6.3 x 3.3 x 3.0 cm. A VERY RICH and showy specimen covered on both sides with highly lustrous, indigo-blue lazulite crystals to 1.0 cm. This fine piece is nicely accented with gemmy, golden-amber siderite crystals.
3.4 x 2.9 x 2.2 cm. Lazulite is a rare magnesium aluminum phosphate, and some of the finest, highly sought after, and best known specimens of this material come from this locality. The area around Rapid Creek is only accessible for a few months in the summer for collecting (it’s under snow and ice the rest of the year), and is some of the most treacherous terrain in the world for collecting specimens. This specimen is a beautiful display piece featuring superb quality, sharp, highly lustrous, very well formed, monoclinic, deep inky blue color crystals of Lazulite measuring up to 11 mm on matrix. This specimen was collected 3 years ago, when there was a great boom of spectacular Lazulite specimens.
5.2 x 4.8 x 2.2 cm. A VERY RICH and showy plate covered with highly lustrous, indigo-blue lazulite crystals to 8 mm. This fine piece is nicely accented with a scattering of gemmy, golden-amber siderite crystals. This is excellent quality combination material, essentially pristine, from the famed Rapid Creek locality in Canada from an old stash.
7.1 x 5.7 x 2.4 cm. A VERY RICH and showy specimen covered on both sides with highly lustrous, indigo-blue lazulite crystals to 1.0 cm. The front of this fine piece is beautiful combination of gemmy, golden-amber siderite crystals and lazulite crystals. This is excellent quality combination material, even with the bruising on the back. The specimen hails from the famed Rapid Creek locality in Canada, which I recently obtained from an old stash. All the major crystals on the front are pristine, except two, one being on the periphery.
8.2 x 5.3 x 3.2 cm. This specimen is a beautiful display piece featuring superb quality, sharp, highly lustrous, very well formed, monoclinic, deep inky blue color crystals measuring up to 6 mm of Lazulite associated with brown Siderite and Quartz crystals on matrix.
7.1 x 4.3 x 2.7 cm. A VERY RICH and showy specimen covered with highly lustrous, indigo-blue lazulite crystals to 8 mm. The cluster of quartz crystals is a very nice accent. This is excellent quality combination material, even with the super trivial bit of bruising and one broken quartz crystal. The specimen hails from the famed Rapid Creek locality in Canada, which I recently obtained from an old stash.
9.6 x 3.9 x 2.2 cm. A VERY RICH and showy V-shaped specimen covered with highly lustrous, indigo-blue lazulite crystals to 1.0 cm. The attendant quartz crystals are a very nice accent. This is excellent quality combination material, even with the minor bit of bruising, mostly along the periphery. The specimen hails from the famed Rapid Creek locality in Canada, which I recently obtained from an old stash.
4.7 x 3.5 x 1.7 cm. Lustrous crystals of deep teal-blue lazulite, from Canada.
5.9 x 3.5 x 1.7 cm. A VERY RICH and showy plate covered with highly lustrous, indigo-blue lazulite crystals to 8 mm. This fine piece is beautifully accented with gemmy, golden-amber siderite crystals. This is excellent quality combination material, with only some minor periphery bruising, from the famed Rapid Creek locality in Canada, which I recently obtained from an old stash. All of the primary lazulite crystals are pristine.
8.9 x 6.5 x 5.0 cm. An EXCELLENT Graves Mountain specimen with numerous doubly terminated, blue lazulite crystals in a quartz-rich matrix. The 2.2 cm, very sharp, twinned and doubly terminated lazulite is a STUNNER and is the major highlight of the overall rich specimen. This outstanding specimen is from the John Sinkankas Collection, bought in 1966.
4.3 x 3.1 x 2.2 cm. This is from a small pocket of wardites hit adjacent to and overlapping with the goyazite zone, and seemingly of unique chemistry which has resulted in a sea-foam green color to the wardite, making them MUCH prettier than normal! This one features a wardite of almost 2 cm, perched among really large goyazite crystals to 4 mm (superb in and of themselves!).
3.7 x 2.3 x 2.2 cm. A generous coating of the rare mineral Augelite, associated with deep-blue Lazulite crystals. The Augelites are gemmy, light green, and very lustrous. The classic pseudo-rhombohedral crystals are uniformly about 3-4 mm on edge. Ex. Wendell E. Wilson Collection.
3.0 x 2.0 x 1.8 cm. The piece features a superb quality, sharp, highly lustrous, deep inky blue color Lazulite crystal with gemmy brown Siderite rhombs on matrix.
