CKTSR-21 - ILMENITE on SMOKY QUARTZ - $ 8500 SOLD Erongo Mountains, Namibia cabinet, 9 x 7 x 5 cm ex. Charlie Key
This is one of Charlie's two best ilmenites...he said that he rushed to the find, when they came out, and obtained the best of the lot along with only one other SA collector (whos epiece was pictured recently in the MR for comparison). Charlie felt that for size and sharpness, and overall display, this is the best. You can see it is a very 3-dimensional specimen with beautiful, geometric form and a really nice complementing balance of smokies with the ilmenites amongst which they grow. I think these are world class ilmenites for the species, especially because they are relatively beautiful and less earthy than usual in this size. The smokies, and the perfection of the piece overall in its display, make it of a quality for any collector to consider, not just those who like the "rare uglies"!
CKTSR-22 - ILMENITE on SMOKY QUARTZ, with Ferberite and Topaz - $ 4000 SOLD Erongo Mountains, Namibia small cabinet, 7 x 6 x 4 cm ex. Charlie Key
A somewhat more elegant but less massive specimen featuring, this time, an ilmenite perched ON the smokies instead of vice versa. This specimen ALSO HOSTS, in the middle zone of sparkling brown you see there, ferberite and a small 8 mm topaz as well as probably other species that are micros. It is extremely aesthetic, overall, for what it is...and the crystal is complete around the upper termination and sides around to the back face
ILMENITE - Ilmenite - $ 95 Arendal, Norway thumbnail, 2.5 x 2.0 x 1.2 cm
Thumbnail, 2 x 1.1 x 0.8 cm An extremely sharp, complete-all-around crystal of ilmenite! EXCELLENT reference specimen for the species and locality.
K-119 - Ilmenite on Smoky Quartz - $ 600 SOLD Erongo Mountains, Namibia miniature, 5.2 x 5.0 x 4.3 cm ex. Charlie Key
A very sharp, fine, beautiful (all things considered) 4.5 x 4 x 2 cm ilmenite crystal nestled in smoky quartz matrix! This is a very attractive piece at a good price, from the recent find of last year. The major crystal is undamaged, atop, though it has some rough spots on the bottom and back side. Its better in person and nicely 3-dimensional.
K-147 - Ilmenite on Smoky Quartz - $ 450 SOLD Erongo Mountains, Namibia miniature, 5.7 x 3.5 x 3.4 cm ex. Charlie Key
A pristine, sharp, 2 x 1.5 x 1 cm ilmenite perched on quartz! Very nice example for the locality!
K-200 - Ilmenite with Cassiterite on Smoky Quartz - $ 250 SOLD Erongo Mountains, Namibia miniature, 5.6 x 3.5 x 3.1 cm ex. Charlie Key
This specimen features a 3 x 3 x 1 cm ilmenite nearly embedded in the quartz matrix. On its edges are perched SAHRP cassiterite crystals to 1.25 cm. Some show twinning, I think. This is a MOST UNUSUAL association! I cannot recall seeing it from any other locality, before. It is the only such ilmenite we have, with epitaxial cassiterite association.
MD-112789 - Ilmenite - - Archived Tormiq valley (Tormic; Tormik; Tormig; Turmiq), Haramosh Mts., Skardu District, Baltistan, Northern Areas, Pakistan thumbnail, 1.5cm
A brilliantly metallic 1.5cm roseate aggregate of sharp ilmenite crystals! Rare and hard to come by, these are new classics for Pakistan. 5.2 x 4.4 x 1.8 cm
MD-119088 - Ilmenite - - Archived Tormiq valley (Tormic; Tormik; Tormig; Turmiq), Haramosh Mts., Skardu District, Baltistan, Northern Areas, Pakistan thumbnail, 3.0 x 2.4 x 1.6 cm.
3.0 x 2.4 x 1.6 cm. Fine rosette of mirror-like Ilmenite perched perfectly on matrix. The rosette is a full 1 cm across, and calls forth memories of the very fine Hematite rosettes that we have seen and appreciated for years. The Ilmenite has a dusting of fine Quartz crystals to add a nice amount of contrast and interest. There is even a nice iridescence along the top edge of the Ilmenite! Ex. Steve Smale Collection.

A very sharp, fine, beautiful (all things considered) 4.5 x 4 x 2 cm ilmenite crystal nestled in smoky quartz matrix! This is a very attractive piece, from the recent find of last year. MD-130337 - Ilmenite, Cassiterite, Quartz (Var: Smoky Quartz) - - Archived Erongo Mountain, Usakos and Omaruru Districts, Erongo Region, Namibia thumbnail, 3 x 3 x 1 cm
This specimen features a 3 x 3 x 1 cm ilmenite nearly embedded in the quartz matrix. On its edges are perched SHARP cassiterite crystals to 1.25 cm. Some show twinning, I think. This is a MOST UNUSUAL association! I cannot recall seeing it from any other locality, before. It is the only such ilmenite we have, with epitaxial cassiterite association. 5.6 x 3.5 x 3.1 cm
MD-155036 - Ilmenite - - Archived Miass (Miask), Ilmen Mts, Chelyabinsk Oblast', Southern Urals, Urals Region, Russia miniature, 4.5 x 4.3 x 1.5 cm.
4.5 x 4.3 x 1.5 cm. An outstanding tabular group of large parallel-growth crystals, with vitreous and attractive chocolate lustre. Few documented specimens from this important classic old locality survive today. This is as good as any I have seen, and of display quality and full miniature size, to boot. Ex. American Museum of Natural History, Clarence Bement collection, donated in 1910.
MD-163176 - Ilmenite - - Archived Erongo Mountain, Usakos and Omaruru Districts, Erongo Region, Namibia thumbnail, 2.0 x 2.0 x 1.2 cm.
2.0 x 2.0 x 1.2 cm. A frankly unusual thing here - ilmenite, slightly radioactive, from the Erongos! This is from a small find about 2 years ago now, of which Charlie got most of the pocket. This would be the best thumbnail from the find, which he kept for his thumbnail collections. Ex. Charlie Key.
MD-199872 - Ilmenite - - Archived Washington, Litchfield Co., Connecticut, USA small cabinet, 7.2 x 5.7 x 3.7 cm.
7.2 x 5.7 x 3.7 cm. This specimen features several robust crystals of ilmenite, from Washington, Litchfield Co., Connecticut. Sharp crystals to 2.7 cm wide and about 1 cm thick make this a relatively attractive, and quite good, US ilmenite specimen. From the noted collection of T.B. Wilson, who, according to the Mineralogical Record Archive on him, joined the Academy of Natural Sciences in Philadelphia in 1832, and was the Academy's principal benefactor. His collection was donated upon his death in 1865. Ex. Philadelphia Academy of Sciences Collection.
MD-207537 - Ilmenite, Feldspar Group - - Archived Zagi Mountain (Zegi Mountain), Mulla Ghori, Khyber Agency, Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA), Pakistan small cabinet, 5.7 x 5.2 x 2.0 cm.
5.7 x 5.2 x 2.0 cm. Ilmenite crystal clusters from Zegi Mountain, Pakistan have seldom been available in this fine quality. This fine, two-sided piece features lustrous, composite ilmenite plates attached to lustrous, feldspar crystals. This is a large ilmenite specimen from this noted and fairly new locale. Ilmenite is also uncommon from here. Ex. Brent Lockhart Collection.
