This mineralogical oddball actually features 4.5 cm , orange-brown crystals of calcite pseudomorphing a rare calcium carbonate, ikaite, commonly known as "glendonite". Although these oddities are admittedly esoteric and hard to explain, visually they can be spectacular, like this one.
