MRZ308 - Calcite after Ikaite "Glendonite" - $ 450 SOLD Kola Peninsula, Russia cabinet, 10.3 x 7.7 x 5.9 cm ex. Martin Zinn
This mineralogical oddball actually features 4.5 cm , orange-brown crystals of calcite pseudomorphing a rare calcium carbonate, ikaite, commonly known as "glendonite". Although these oddities are admittedly esoteric and hard to explain, visually they can be spectacular, like this one.
