2.1 x 1.9 x 1.8 cm. Curved and curled, pearlescent, fibrous halotrichite needles aesthetically and richly cover matrix on this very showy thumbnail piece from Death Valley, California. Ex. Dick Jones Collection, who probably self-collected this fine specimen.
5.2 x 4.2 x 3.3 cm. Most likely collected in the late 1960s or early 70s, this is a gorgeous specimen of acicular (hair-like) crystals of halotrichite - here represented in a tuft perfectly set atop matrix! Halotrichite (a hydrated iron aluminum sulfate, usually a product of pyrite oxidation).
4.7 x 2.6 x 1.4 cm. A beautiful miniature of this asbestos-like hydrated sulfate. Ex. Martin Zinn Collection.
