Gemmy twins of golden selenite sprouting at either end of this pretty specimen from the clay beds of the Red River in Winnipeg. Unusual shape! 8.1 x 3.7 x 3.4cm
A STRIKING, CABINET specimen of transparent, lustrous, clay-included, gypsum crystals from Morden, in the Bay of Fundy, Nova Scotia. The large crystal is doubly terminated and the whole specimen is essentially undamaged. Large material for the locality. CHOICE material from the Lewadny Collection. 15.0 x 10.0 x 5.0 cm
A floater ball of super-gemmy, lustrous twins of selenite with razor-sharp edges, from the clay beds in the Red River Floodway near Winnipeg. Beautiful golden color! 5.2 x 4.8 x 4.6cm
A super-gemmy, golden twin of selenite on a complete ball of small twins. The isolation of this single crystal makes it particularly dramatic; it measures around 3 cm in each direction. These are gorgeous in person! 7.3 x 5.1 x 4.8cm
A SUPERB, AESTHETIC and pristine curved ramshorn gypsum crystal on a nice custom base from Santa Eulalia, Mexico. Classic material. 7.5 x 4.3 x 3.8 cm
A GORGEOUS and SUPERB floater cluster of radiating, very thick, lustrous, transparent, light amber gypsum crystals from the famous Red River Floodway of Manitoba, Canada. Super trivial edge bruising to only a couple of crystals on this beautiful piece. Excellent material from the Lewadny Collection. 6.6 x 5.5 x 4.2 cm
A single, gemmy, pristine golden selenite twin rises elegantly from a floater ball of densely packed twins. These once were common, but no longer are being found in quality and quantity. Super aesthetics and sharp crystallization for the species! 7.5 x 5.3 x 5.1cm
These wonderful specimens are dug from ancient claybeds outside Winnipeg. This "pinwheel"-style specimen, a floater as most are, is covered with gemmy golden twinned crystals to 2.7 cm across. 5.8 x 4.9 x 2.7cm
A staggered crystal, sharp and well-terminated, of clear selenite (gypsum) jutting up from a bed of quartz crystals, from Mexico. Dramatic! 10.2 x 8.3 x 6.8cm
From the same locality as the other Red River gypsum in this auction, but with a completely different look! The crystals not only have a different form, but a more amber color - and, instead of forming a ball, this specimen has the gemmy crystals capping an elongated cluster of massed smaller crystals of gypsum (this specimen is also a floater). 6.5 x 4.3 x 3.2cm
An absolutely TEXTBOOK, gemmy, perfect floater crystal of gypsum (selenite), an old Canadian piece. This could literally be used as a model for a crystallography class; and besides, it is just darned pretty! 5.0 x 2.7 x 1.2cm
A large, slender, elegant "ram''s horn" selenite from Naica; thequite sought-after for the wonderful form. 12.1 x 8.4 x 2.3cm
A floater ball of sharp, gemmy, golden crystals of gypsum, from the buried clay beds in the Red River Floodway. These are fat, transparent crystals, and they cover the entire ball; there are no contacts. This is a really big and impressive one! 8.6 x 7.7 x 7.5cm
I am not sure what the inclusion is that turns the gypsum from this locality this beautiful light green; at any rate, it looks like a carpet of beautiful spring grass! 9.6 x 8.2 x 1.7cm
7.4 x 5.4 x 3.2 cm. An aesthetic and pristine specimen of lustrous, transparent to opaque, brown gypsum blades from the famous Great Salt Plains National Wildlife Refuge, near Jet, Oklahoma. Many of the crystals are doubly terminated and have "hourglass" sand inclusions, for which the locality is renowned for. This is an excellent, old-time example from the Dennis Mullane Collection and dates from the 1950s to early 1970s.
