This is a fascinating specimen of adamite and gypsum in vugs of ocherous limonite. The adamite, which fluoresces a beautiful emerald green, occurs in spheres, to 1.5 cm across. The gypsum crystals are acicular, highly unusual as is the association itself! The piece really "sparkles" overall with the contrasts. NOTE: Hand delivery must be arranged

Rising aesthetically out of its matrix is a single, limpid, crystal of gypsum. It is almost 9 cm long, 1.5 cm wide. The whole length of the colorless crystal is totally gemmy!

This is an aesthetic, jackstraw cluster of glassy and gemmy, colorless gypsum crystals, to 8.5 cm in length. The crystals are so limpid that the matrix can be seen through them. They have internal phantoms, adding character, and this also makes them distinct from the modern specimens here. The largest crystal is also doubly terminated. Considering that gypsum is so soft, and often mined as decorator items, it is actually not that easy to get fine, large specimens of this quality. the clarity and luster on the piece are outstanding, top percentile.

how is this for a bizarre combo piece?! Spherical aggregates of satin-luster, translucent, rich pink rhodochrosite are aesthetically balanced with a rosette of pearlescent, see-through gypsum crystals to 3 cm across. This is an absolutely captivating and enchanting combo specimen that possesses a wonderful contrast of colors and forms. We had not seen anything like it from Mexico

As displayed , this specimen features a stunning gypsum crystal that looks like it is a parallelogram carved from glass. The crystal is perched on two disjointed shards of matrix, that stick out and give it more 3-dimensionality as a specimen. It is 11 cm from tip to perfect tip, and is so gemmy and clear that you think at first it might be a cleavage fragment (with the dull surfaces chipped off). But this is classic Naica material, just an exceptional example in how it displays. Comes with custom lucite base. Joe Budd photos. Ex Dalton and Consie Prince private collection, and probably obtained in the 1970s or 1980s

From a remote copper mining locale, this is a hefty, very rich specimen of sharp chalcocite crystals on matrix. The crystals , to about 1 cm, are intergrown with gypsum and copper ore. Highly unusual, rare material. Ex Scalisi collection

This is a floater cluster of super-gemmy twinned crystals of selenite, from Poland, ex. Marty Zinn. These fine crystals are far more transparent in person, and have a light golden color. Despite the softness of this mineral, this specimen is in fabulous condition – and is REALLY striking and aesthetic.

A sculptural complex of gemmy, colorless Gypsum crystals from the Mexican state of Chihuahua, which is famous for its Gypsum crystals, among many other fine minerals. The luster on the Gypsum is superb, and the crystals form almost a bowl shape. In some ways, the open core reminds me of a ship, in other ways this cluster visually harkens to Superman's crystal fortress. Either way, the aesthetics on the piece are excellent. It is so shiny and well-formed it could almost be a piece of polished acrylic sculpture. It is really unusual and we have all seen so many to make that call from!

A small, well-formed ball of twinned crystals of Selenite, with one super-gemmy 1.6 cm twinned crystal growing prominently out from the ball. This color, and this gemminess, is quite unusual. The Selenites formed in the clay beds of the Red River Floodway near Winnipeg, as floater balls of crystals. Under UV light, this beautiful Selenite crystal fluoresces green. In addition, it phosphoresces after the UV light is turned off. Sharp, beautiful, and aesthetic. The only such kille rexample I have seen in a TN sized specimen

Just a natural jewel! A superb, well-formed radial cluster Selenite crystals, with the largest being 1.6 cm across. The blocky habit is very rare, and to find each and every one of the crystals in this cluster to be absolutely water-clear is rarer still. These formed in the clay beds of the Red River Floodway near Winnipeg, as floater balls of crystals. Under UV light, this beautiful Selenite crystal fluoresces green. In addition, it phosphoresces after the UV light is turned off. Sharp, beautiful, and aesthetic.

Gypsum may "just be Gypsum," but there is no denying the quality and aesthetics of this large well-formed fishtail twin. The luster is excellent and the edges are as consistent and sharp as you ever find them in Gypsum. The twin is actually much gemmier than can possibly show up in the pics because of the twinning and well-defined internal planes....so much better in person.

4.8 x 3.6 x 1.7 cm. Lustrous, indigo-blue boleite cubes to 5 mm aesthetically scattered on contrasting gypsum matrix from the famous Amelia Mine at Santa Rosalia, Mexico. This is CLASSIC, OLD and uncommon material, NOT on the usual stabilized clay matrix! Old material form the 1970s finds.

Gypsum from Zimmersrode Quarry, Borken, North Hesse, Hesse, Germany [db_pics/mdpics/MD-113372a.jpg]

11.5 x 6.0 x 3.3 cm. A SPECTACULAR, doubly terminated, transparent gypsum crystal with secondary crystals growing in parallel and at high angles. A very aesthetic specimen from Germany. It looks like a ray-gun. The CABINET-SIZED crystal even gives a rainbow-effect, when viewed at certain angles. Very nearly pristine, with only trivial termination bruising. Ex. Marty Zinn Collection # 7702.

MD-113494 - Gypsum (Var: Selenite) - - Archived

Gypsum (Var: Selenite) from Eisleben, Mansfeld Basin, Saxony-Anhalt, Germany [db_pics/mdpics/MD-113494a.jpg]

16.1 x 10.1 x 5.4 cm. Selenite is not a rare mineral, but good old German specimens are quite uncommon and generally unavailable on the market. This one is truly impressive, not just for its size, but the glassy excellence of the crystals which cover the face of the matrix - and with VERY few missing crystals, even though selenite is notoriously soft and brittle.
