A showy and excellent specimen of VERY GEMMY and lustrous, red-orange, grossular garnet crystals to 1.6 cm with lustrous, colorless, curved calcite crystals on matrix from the famous Eden Mills area of Vermont. THESE CRYSTALS ARE LARGE FOR THE LOCALE! The prominent garnet crystals are pristine and the scattered damage (still some color) is certainly not detracting. CORRECTION from the collector i got this from: Rob youve made a mistake, thats a KILLER specimen of rare crystallized PREHNITE with garnet 9.2 x 9.0 x 4.1 cm

Grossular from Jeffrey mine (Jeffrey quarry; Johns-Manville mine), Asbestos, Les Sources RCM, Estrie, Québec, Canada [db_pics/mdpics/MD-47224a.jpg]

A very large and impressive plate of GEMMY grossular garnets, particularly notable in that the mine has recently closed and there will be no more of these coming out (and therefore, there has been a real scramble to get them and the prices have risen dramatically). Despite a few contacted areas (some damage there which you can see), this is a very notable piece for both the size (to 0.8 cm)of crysatls and the size of the display face as a whole; and also for the TOP, intense gemminess of the crystals, with glassy luster and beautiful striations. 6.8 x 6.5 x 4.5 cm

A LARGE, beautifully gemmy and lustrous, sherry-colored grossular garnet crystal with a bit of included matrix from the famous and now closed Jeffrey Mine in Quebec. This crystal has several excellent faces with nice striations. A trivial edge bruise and very minor periphery contacting is certainly not detracting. It is MAJOR Ex Richard Hauck Collection. 2.8 x 2.5 x 1.8 cm

One side of this specimen is COVERED with gemmy grossular crystals to one centimeter, and the other has isolated crystals to just over one centimeter! Take your choice of which side will be the display face! The crystals show superb gemminess, luster and form. With the mine now closed, there is a rush on to grab these, so you had better move fast if you want one! 6.7 x 3.3 x 2.1 cm

Here''s a great European Alpine "classic". One of the most recognized associations from the Alps are the beautiful green and red Diopside and Grossular combinations from Italy. This piece features dozens of sharp, lustrous, gemmy, bright, reddish-orange color trapezohedral crystals of Grossular (variety: "Hessonite") with very light green (nearly colorless) crystals of Diopside with dark bluish-green "rosettes" of Clinochlore. This is a very nice "cabinet" specimen for anyone interested in great Italian Alpine mineral specimens. This piece was collected in 1985. 9.2 x 7.7 x 3.7cm

BEAUTIFULLY GEMMY and LUSTROUS, orange grossular garnet crystals to 7 mm scintillate on nicely contrasting matrix from the famous Eden Mills area of Vermont. All of the major crystals are pristine and the scattered damage is certainly not detracting. This is one of the great US classic gem localities! 6.5 x 4.6 x 3.3 cm

Green cored garnets are most unusual, especially in crystals of this size! This cluster of grossular garnet, from the world's famous garnet and vesuvianite locality in Canada, is characterized by green cores surrounded by transparent, colorless, areas; all of which make up a fine 3-dimensional column of solid garnet specimen. It is complete all around, 360. The large crystal measures .75 cm across. In addition, there is a growth of secondary, gemmy, pink crystals of grossular. 2 x 1.4 x 1 cm

Since the closing of the Jeffrey, there has been a real scramble to scoop up any good specimens left on the market. These fine grossulars have always been prized, and the crystals on this specimen are just SUPER-gemmy – they have an incredible glassy sparkle! The crystals richly cover a gently curving matrix; they are lighter and brighter in person! They measure to about 0.5 cm across. Small xls, but overall a lot of pizzazz to the piece. 4 x 3.8 x 2 cm

Since the closing of the Jeffrey, there has been a real scramble to scoop up any good specimens left on the market. These fine grossulars have always been prized. This specimen is distinguished by a particularly LARGE crystal, measuring 1.4 cm across! It is nice and isoalted as well. This combination of qualities is VERY rare for Jeffrey grossulars! This crystal, as the others, has pretty striations on its faces. It is pristine. There is no damage to teh major crystals here, although a few remnant shards remain elsewhere on teh diopside matrix (not distracting) from crystals no longer present. 7 x 3.5 x 1.2 cm
