This massive, organic-looking piece is just a beautiful large nugget. It is getting very hard, what with all the speculation on gold value, to get good specimen nuggets at a fair price. This one weighs 490 grams, 17.5 ounces, or about 16 troy ounces (31 grams per troy ounce as opposed to 28 grams per "regular" ounce). A beaut, as they say down under! 10.6 x 5.5 x 1.9 cm

High on everyone’s list of gold specimens to get is a ropy wire of some sort, and this excellent specimen has great color, aesthetics, and luster. It looks like a shofar, or ancient religious rams horn, to me. It is just a damned good gold by ANY standard - and you know pieces with such thick wires from Alaska or Colorado go for five figures, even if small. On top of that, the associations make it even more prized as a locality speicmen of some import. The Caprivizipfel is the long finger of land that stretches from Namibia east to Zambia.

Words can hardly describe this striking lustrous gold, with pyramidal 3-dimensionality to it that is mesmerizing in person. It is well-crystallized, with one huge flattened hopper positioned in a prominent place. Just sit back and enjoy looking at it in your collection. Old sticker on the bottom of $1800, by the way, so I think my price is pretty darn reasonable.

A long elegant needle that is exquisitely spinel-twinned. there are also some developed crystals at one end. With such good color, luster, and form, this is quite a good Gold specimen and an important locality piece for any gold collection or thumbnail gold suite.

This combination of octahedral crystals, hoppered octahedrons, and massive gold create a wonderful and aesthetic ‘tree’ of gold. For sheer brilliance, this thumbnail is hard to beat. I tis incredibly sculptural and look slike it is about to walk away. Somebody here compared it to the Ents of the Lord of the Rings movies....it just really has a zing to it that is hard to convey in pics. It is hefty, and extremely showy for the size!

This is a very showy dendritic native gold specimen, which greatly resembles a Christmas tree. This came labelled as Colorado - I could be wrong but am pretty sure it is Californian

This is a bright gold specimen composed of thick crystalline "leaves". It exhibits a very pleasing sculptural form with great luster. Although labelled as "Belle Creole" on the box, I am fairly confident (to the extent one can be of such things) that it is probably Dixie Mine based on habit and form. Still good , mind you!

WOW! This is an incredible, world-class thumbnail of this very rare silver species! Such pieces are usually 100-200 years old and more. Pristine, aesthetic examples are few and far between in any size, but THIS ONE is a competition level piece for aesthetics, aside from the rarity and history. Note the Smithsonian label showing it is from the Carl Bosch collection. Bosch didnt collect anything bad. Even his small stuff is good, as this exemplifies!
A brilliant, classic leaf gold cluster prominently displayed on matrix, well-trimmed. This is a true classic and very important because it retains a specific mine name - most such informaiton is usually lost to time. This was probably mined in the 1800s
A gorgeous, hefty, unusually thick and sturdy mass of crystalline gold from this rare old locale! It is a very 3-dimensional, 360-degree, sculptural piece, and it weighs 18 grams. It retains a small bit of attached matrix. ex. RH Beddome collection.

A very attractive "leaf gold" that looks like a leaf, from this old classic locale. It was confirmed for Mark that it is Musariu Mine by the association, and from having been compared in person to specimens in European museum collections. This specimen gives you a good visual area for hte price, and is totally classic of the common Transylvania style. It could be cleaned and brightened, but i like the old look of it.
A superior, sharp, brilliant gold crystal measures 6 mm across, and is perched in contrasting matrix. This is exceptional for the quality of the crystallization and from a hard-to-get locale!
This is what i call "crystallized leaf gold" because although the shape and thinness at first glance indicate a leafyy gold without form, closer inspection shows flattenned trigons and definite structure to the foil-thick leaf. It has amazing, tinfoil lustre and is incredibly beautiful . You get a lot of display impact and gusto for the price with one of these new Aussie golds, in terms of surface area and pizzazz. This is one of the better miniatures I have seen of the find, especially for the price range. Note the leaf is thin and fragile, so i have stabilized it by sprinkling a few invisible drops of glue to make sure it stays stiffly adhered to the matrix of calcite
A truly elegant, sculptural, gold thumbnail that look slike a dancing figure. It is compposed entire of several kinds of crystals, all elegantly intergrown. BETTER AND MORE 3-D in person!
Elnogated spinel-twinned gold crystals, 2 cm tall, twirl and writhe atop this matrix, making for a very delicate and appealing miniature with unusual eye appeal. It is not your average Eagle's nest piece!
