the best thumbnail in the lot, with startling, sharp, robust crystals of extreme brightness and robust form.
A sharply crystallized gold specimen, complete ALL around, and looking curiously like a scots terrier, hence its nickname of "scotty dog" by the previous owners. It weighs 32 grams (just over an ounce) and was collected in 1993. This is a really sturdy piece, and CQ mine specimens are generally far sturdier and thicker than their Eagles Nest Mine counterparts. Its a very good, very impressive gold for the price, I think. My understanding of the mine is that it is, for the moment at least, on idle.
This massive, organic-looking piece is just a beautiful large nugget. It is getting very hard, what with all the speculation on gold value, to get good specimen nuggets at a fair price. This one weighs 490 grams, 17.5 ounces, or about 16 troy ounces (31 grams per troy ounce as opposed to 28 grams per "regular" ounce). A beaut, as they say down under!
