2.6 x 1.2 x 0.7 cm. A superb, bright gold specimen from the famous Colorado Quartz Mine. This curved, well-crystallized, elongate piece looks like a backbone with spinel-twinned "ribs" attached. The "backbone" is, in fact, a single, long, spinel-twinned gold crystal. The bit of milky quartz is a very nice accent. The curved "tail" of the backbone features sharp, hoppered, octahedral crystals.
1.5 x 1.3 x 0.9 cm. An aesthetic thumbnail specimen of bright, burnished, microcrystalline gold nicely dispersed in the pink granite, from the unique 1990s St. John’s, Newfoundland find.
2.3 x 1.3 x 0.2 cm. A sturdy leaf of Colorado gold. Looked at closely, you can see that there are actually distinct crystals here. Classic from the late 1800s through mid 1900s. Ex. Richard Hauck Collection.
6.0 x 1.7 x 0.5 cm. A superb Round Mountain gold specimen. Tips and edges of the giant, rich golden, flattened, arborescent crystal are capped by sharp, hoppered gold octahedrons.
1.9 x 1.3 x 0.8 cm. A sculptural and aesthetic, flower petal-like thumbnail leaf gold beautifully highlighted by a bit of quartz from the Irv Brown Collection. This fine specimen has bright gold color. From a now closed Canadian gold mine, at St. Johns, Newfoundland.
2.0 x 1.8 x 1.7 cm. A superb Arizona gold thumbnail. Rich, golden-yellow, hackly gold aesthetically covers the quartz matrix on this fine, old-timer from an unknown mine in Yavapai County.
Super-bright leaves of gold richly exposed in the host quartz matrix: quite good for the locality! An old South African specimen whose marking on the underside show it to have moved through many collections. 2.8 x 2.6 x 1.4 cm
2.3 x 2.2 x 1.6 cm. An unusual and fine showy gold thumbnail from the unique 1990s Newfoundland find, at St. Johns. Bright, microcrystalline gold is aesthetically perched atop the unique, pink granitic quartz and feldspar crystals. A thin band of black, host rock matrix and bright pyrite is an excellent compliment.
3.0 x 0.8 x 0.4 cm (largest). A 2-piece set of gold nuggets from the famous Mother Lode District of California. Two, large, sculptural, flattened and river-worn gold nuggets with rich gold lustre and color.
4.3 x 2.9 x 0.4 cm. An elegant, beautiful, flowery specimen of robust gold leaf, from this very famous old locality.
1.6 x 1.1 x 0.3 cm (largest). A 2-piece set from the Mother Lode District of California. Two large, sculptural and flattened, river-worn gold nuggets with rich gold lustre and color comprise this set.
A 2.5 cm leaf of gold exposed above a base of quartz. The gold is not wimpy and thin but relatively sturdy and substantial. 3.5 x 1.8 x 1.7 cm
2.4 x 1.4 x 1.2 cm. A fine Arizona gold thumbnail. Rich, golden-yellow, hackly gold aesthetically covers the bit of quartz matrix on this fine, old-timer from an unknown mine in Yavapai County.
4.2 x 3.9 x 2.2 cm. From an old collection, this is a very unique California gold specimen with robust, sturdy outgrowths like tendrils and vines, and also a few sharp stacked octahedral crystals. Dramatic, elegant, and unusual miniature from this famous old gold district.
A rare locality piece, with leaf gold of several colors. I am told that this is old material from a closed location, and that the silver content is high enough that it is in fact "electrum," which indicates a mix of the two elements. 2.5 x 2 x 1 cm
