Geocronite (1.5 cm xl) - found 1994

Geocronite is an exceptionally rare lead species. This is a VERY sharp, rare matrix crystal , one of just a very few found in a freak find in 1994 that are generally considered to be the best around for the species with only a few exceptions of historic older specimens. The piece overall is attractive , too, with the quartz association.

2.7 x 2.4 x 1.3 cm. This is a VERY rare lead sufosalt with moderately large crystals. The color is battleship gray, with a satiny luster. The crystals are foliated in parallel growth, much like mica. This species is not often seen in dealers stocks or even in museums. I am told it was collected prior to 1840.

11.8 x 7.2 x 3.8 cm. Geocronite is an uncommon lead, antimony, arsenic sulfosalt. This very rich and very rare, two-sided cabinet-sized ore specimen features a thick, layered vein of lustrous, metallic lead-gray geocronite in sulfide matrix. Ex. Bohemia Royal Museum and Joseph Vajdak Collections with labels. Vajdak is a noted Pribram collector and both labels indicate that the piece was collected in circa 1920 in the 24th Level of Uranium Mine #16 here. Weighs 572 grams or 1.25 pounds.
