Charlie thought this was perhaps the best specimen around, using the phrase "off the charts," and I can say I have not seen better. It wsa supposedly found about 30-40 years ago. It features dozens of SHARP, wine-red crystals of this very rare thallium-rich species that also has a smorgasboard of other elements in it. Here we have several dozen large-for-species crystals to 4 mm.

7.3 x 3.8 x 2.0 cm. Lustrous, rust-red galkhaite cubes to 3 mm on a nicely contrasting gray, drusy quartz-covered matrix with an unknown yellow-green mineral from the famous Getchell Mine of Nevada. Galkhaite is a very rare cesium, thallium, mercury sulfide. A rare and very rich specimen for the species out of an old stash that came to light in the early 90s. I am told they were mined in the early 1980s.

A SUPERB miniature of lustrous, gemmy to opaque, dark blood-red galkhaite crystals to 3 mm RICHLY scattered on matrix from the famous Getchell Mine of Nevada from small finds in the late 1970s stashed until recent years by the mine geologist. Galkhaite is a ULTRA-RARE cesium, thallium, mercury sulfosalt and this is an OUTSTANDING example. SELDOM do you see galkhaite specimens with this many gemmy crystals!

2.5 x 2.5 x 1.6 cm. Galkhaite is a very rare cesium, thallium, mercury sulfosalt and this is an excellent thumbnail example. Lustrous, gemmy, dark blood-red galkhaite crystals are richly scattered on the vuggy matrix from the Getchell Mine of Nevada. The largest crystals, to 2 mm, are very attractively concentrated at the top, center of the specimen. This piece is from small finds in the late 1970s stashed until recent years by the mine geologist.
