A CLASSIC English CABINET specimen of lustrous, translucent, colorless calcite rhombs to 3.5 cm nearly covering massive galena matrix from Nenthead, Alston Moor, Cumbria. Trivial bit of bruising to a couple of the perphery calcite crystals is hardly noticeable. They have classic flattened rhomb form of discs. CHOICE material from the Lewadny Collection. 11.0 x 7.2 x 4.0 cm
A very large, showy specimen of super-bright, sharp galena crystals intergrown with slender, gemmy quartz crystals - with a few calcite twins here and there as a bonus. Sorry there are no good closeups of the fine galenas - they are mirror-bright and measure to about 2 cm across. Extra shipping applies due to size and weight of specimen. 16.1 x 13.8 x 9.5 cm
Mined in the 1980''s in Bulgaria, this is a VERy large, STRIKING specimen of big, lustrous galena crystals (to 3 cm), some with a glittery coating of golden chalcopyrite, intergrown with large, complex crystals of sphalerite (to over 2 cm). The galenas and sphalerites are on a bed of slender quartz needles. 15.8 x 14.7 x 5.4 cm
These wonderful intergrown Galenas are from a very well known locality in Ireland, Silvermines. The luster is very good, but what makes this such a great specimen are the dodecahedral modifications. Normally, the rhombal faces are square, with the hexagonal faces nowhere close to equilateral. Here, it is reversed! The hexagonal faces are virtually equilateral with the minor faces as perfect rectangles. This is such a great specimen for luster, aesthetics, and habit! 3.2 x 2.2 x 2.2 cm
Attractive, translucent, color zoned, fluorite crystals, with dark purple cores and lilac edges, measure 5 cm across. In addition, there are euhedral galena and sphalerite crystals on the back side of the specimen. It is a stunning example of classic, purple zoned fluorite from these now defunct mines! NOTE: FROM THE TOM WIESNER COLLECTION, NOT ZINN. just got mixed in 6.2 x 5.1 x 4.9 cm
8.4 x 4.4 x 3.9 cm. Flattened, transparent, doubly-terminated crystals of baryte have grown in parallel on a matrix covered with iridescent galena and tan-colored siderites. Mined in May of 2000.
A classic, old-time, aesthetic CABINET plate of lustrous, gun metal-gray galena cubes to 1.7 cm with a scattering of sphalerite crystals on silicified limestone from the famous Tri-State District of Missouri. 12.0 x 8.7 x 4.7 cm
A big, showy specimen of mirror-bright cubes of galena, to 2 cm across, nestled amongst fine quartz crystals. There is also a scattering of small sphalerites, and the matrix is pyritic. Mined in Romania between 1970 and 1980. Extra shipping may apply due to size and weight. 17.7 x 10.4 x 10.3 cm
A very showy and excellent combination piece from Concepcion del Oro, Mexico of lustrous, striated, brass-yellow pyritohedrons with rosettes of colorless calcite crystals and gun-metal gray galena crystals on massive pyrite. Ex Marty Lewadny Collection of Winnipeg, Manitoba. 7.1 x 5.6 x 4.3 cm
A cluster of fine, lustrous spinel-twins of bright galena, to just under 3 cm across, mined at the Nikolaevsky in 2003. The crystals are unusually architectural in form. 7.2 x 6.5 x 5.6 cm
Big, sharp and shiny crystals of galena, to 2.3 cm, on a bed of coated sphalerite crystals that provide a nice contrast for the galenas. From the sulfide-rich mines of Madan, in Bulgaria. 12.1 x 7.5 x 6.6 cm
A superb and aesthetic plate of isolated, fortification galena cubes on silicified limestone matrix with scattered, tiny ruby-jack sphalerite crystals from Treece, Kansas. This is old-time material from the Tri-State District and only one of the galena cubes has any damage. Ex Richard Hauck Collection. 6.3 x 5.2 x 2.0 cm
This is a rich specimen of galena on matrix from the Sweetwater, with nice octahedrons to 1.5 cm on calcite. 8.3 x 5.6 x 3.7 cm
SUPERB and lustrous, stepped, metallic-gray galena crystals to 3.0 cm richly cover sulfide matrix from Cavnic, Roumania. CHOICE material from the Lewadny Collection. 8.8 x 7.8 x 6.4 cm
The marcasite here looks almost like some sort of pyritized fossil, with beautiful bumpy balls with a brassy luster. Amongst the marcasite are a few euhedral galena crystals (the state mineral of Wisconsin, in fact), which add a nice accent. This is a large, showy, very pretty specimen! 11.1 x 8.1 x 4.1cm
