The photo makes the luster look a bit strange, but in person it is a nice shiny silver-metallic. This is a superbly-articulated, architectural crystal, 4.5 cm across accented by sphalerite on a carefully-trimmed matrix. VERY NICE! 5.4 x 5.2 x 3.6 cm
I really like the way this specimen sits up unaided and shows off two spinel twinned galena crystals to 3cm each sit on a matrix of smaller untwinned galena crystals, quartz, and sphalerite. The galena displays a mirror bright luster so reflective you can see the photographer's face in the crystals from a foot away! The crystals exhibit a silvery-gray color that is more attractive in person than it seems here, as well. 6.5 x 5.8 x 4.1 cm
A glittering, attractive combination specimen featuring a gemmy, clear fluorite crystal perched on a pedestal of galena crystals, and itself draped gently by a glistening coating of sparkling white calcite. This is a striking combo piece from a localitythat, while not quite defunct, now longer produces this assemblage. 7.6 x 4.6 x 3.6 cm
The galenas and the sphalerites compete for superb luster and perfection of crystallization in this specimen! Gorgeous overall form, an unusually aesthetic Naica specimen. 4.6 x 4.2 x 3.5 cm
An EXCELLENT and showy plate of lustrous, interpenetrating, cuboctohedral galena crystals on matrix from Madan, Bulgaria. The small needle quartz crystals really add character to this fine piece. The cuboctohedral galena crystal habit is not that common from Madan. Ex Marty Lewadny Collection of Winnepeg, Canada. 7.6 x 7.0 x 2.8 cm
A beautiful, porcupine needle-like plate of glassy, quartz needles to 2.8 cm with interspersed galena and pyrite crystals on massive sulfide matrix from the famous Huaron District of Peru. Expertly collected, the only damage is to periphery quartz crystals. Choice material from the Lewadny Collection. MUCH BETTER IN PERSON. 7.0 x 6.5 x 4.0 cm
A showy plate of brilliant, brass-yellow, striated pyritohedrons to 2.1 cm nicely covered with contrasting, matte-finish, etched galena crystals from the famous Huanzala Mine of Peru. The crystals are undamaged. Ex Marty Lewadny Collection of Winnipeg, Canada. 9.2 x 8.0 x 3.0 cm
A wonderful, big and showy Eastern European combo specimen, featuring slender, transparent quartz crystals growing in all directions, on a matrix combining lustrous, striated sphalerite crystals and hoppered, architectural galenas with mirror luster. 14.9 x 11.8 x 4.6 cm
A VERY uncommon Eastern European example of Japan Law quartz! The Japan law twin sits right in the middle of a bed of conventional quartz crystals, with accenting galena, and measures 4.5 cm across. Truly a rare thing! I have not seen another of similar magnitude! 12.1 x 8.2 x 3.6 cm
A very flashy and unusual specimen of metallic-bright, hoppered, octohedral galena crystals from the famous Huanzala Mine of Peru. Octohedral galena crystals are very uncommon from the Huanzala Mine. Excellent material from the Lewadny Collection. 6.1 x 4.6 x 3.2 cm
Two fine octahedrons of galena coated with siegenite, perched on a specimen of sparkly golden pyrite – mined in December of 1992 at the West Fork Mine. A rare tri-state association piece! 6.6 x 4.9 x 4.3 cm
A perfect rectangular crystal of galena on a "base" of smaller crystals, extremely sculptural and fine. Though galenas are common, the really aesthetic ones you would want to have in your collection are NOT! Ex Gary Hansen Collection 5.1 x 4 x 3.4 cm
A TRULY SUPERB and PRISTINE CABINET plate of very sharp, lustrous, individual galena octohedrons to 2.2 cm on limestone matrix from the Tri-State District of Kansas. Ex Ruggiero Collection. Ed purchased this piece in 1975. 10.5 x 7.5 x 3.6 cm
A VERY AESTHETIC and pristine specimen of a lustrous, COMPLETE ALL-AROUND, 2.0 cm galena cube beautifully perched on lustrous sphalerite crystal with a scattering of tiny, gemmy calcite crystals. This exquisite Lewadny Collection piece is from the now-closed Cumberland Mine, which is near the famous and now-closed Elmwood Mine. NOT your common galena specimen! 3.7 x 3.6 x 2.7 cm
VERY GEMMY and lustrous, deep cherry-red rhodonite crystals to 2.6 cm on massive galena matrix from the famous Broken Hill deposit of Australia. The large rhodonite crystal is especially fine. The bit of contacting on a couple of smaller rhodonite crystals is certainly not detracting from this showy piece. These came out in the 1960s and earlier and are hard to get today. 4.6 x 3.4 x 2.1 cm
