6.4 x 5.4 x 3.0 cm. A perfect-sized, nicely-trimmed, altogether really aesthetic specimen of old Viburnum Tred galena, with sharp octahedrons to 1.5 cm. The crystals have cool flattened tips, and a pretty blue/purple iridescence. Collected 1991. From the noted George Feist Midwest collection and Dan Weinrich Collection.
6.5 x 5.1 x 3.8 cm. From the personal collection of dealer Dan Weinrich, who specializes in specimens from the Tri-State District - a superb and dramatic old galena specimen. The dominant crystal measures 2.8 cm along the edge. It has a fine gunmetal luster, and natural bevels on its corners (as do the smaller crystals). Small golden pyrites decorate the matrix around the galenas. As you can see, the galenas sit up just right on the matrix to make a truly aesthetic specimen. Dan sold this to George Feist over a decade ago. From the noted George Feist Midwest collection.
6.3 x 5.6 x 3 cm. This is an important combination specimen, in which you have several sets of complex twinned cerussites coated with the snow-white hydrocerussite. Ex. Willy Israel Collection.
7 x 6 x 3.5 cm. A sharp 3.5-cm galena crystal is partially replaced, here, by tennantite. The crystal is especially fine for Tsumeb, where large and sharp galena crystals are rare despite tonnes of massive material recovered. It is pristine and complete, except for a tiny bit of the backside where you can see that the replacement has not been fully completed yet. Ex. Willy Israel Collection.
4.4 x 2.4 x 1.8 cm. An unusual galena crystal cluster on a thin bed of drusy quartz from the famous Kamioka Mine of Honshu, Japan. Three, sharp and lustrous, narrow galena cubes, like jagged mountains, rise above a "plain" of melted looking galena Ex. Burton Jirgl and John Ydren Collections.
8.9 x 5.9 x 5.4 cm. An aesthetic example of a Sweetwater calcite, not just because the crystal is suffused with golden-yellow color, but more importantly, it is nestled in a bed of contrasting opaque galena crystals. The calcite itself measures 6 cm top to bottom. Ex. Feist Collection.
4.8 x 4.4 x 3.4 cm. A stunning old Tri-State galena specimen - a very ornate compound crystal with cool bevels and intricate modifications on the corners (those indented areas are not damage but micro-faces). There is a minor attachment of dolomite with little brassy chalcopyrites.
11.4 x 8.4 x 5.9 cm. A rare specimen from the mid-70s at the Mex-Tex Mine. This is a large cluster of highly-modified crystals of light purple fluorite -- with hundreds of stepped microfaces wrapped around what appear to be cuboctahedral forms -- with a large(4-cm), complete crystal of galena placed right in the middle of them. Ex.. A. Martaud Collection.
8.1 x 4.5 x 4.0 cm. A rich cluster of transparent light green fluorite, with ornate forms (cubes modified by the octahedron) piled up on matrix, with associated galena and a few brassy little chalcopyrites.
12.4 x 9.4 x 4.9 cm. These fine crystals of galena on this specimen out of the collection of Gary Hansen shine like machine parts. They are set along a ridge of matrix, surrounded by little barytes and chalcopyrites. The crystals measure up to 2.8 cm along the edge.
8.6 x 5.7 x 2.8 cm. Fine little red pyrargyrites ensconced with sharp galenas in contrasting quartz. Ex. Carl Rumpff and Stephan von Habsburg-Lothringen Collections.
10.5 x 4.8 x 4.6 cm. These pseudomorphs of galena after pyromorphite were found rarely in the late 1700s or early 1800s. This is a fine piece, with sparkly crystals rising dramatically to 3 cm in height. Ex. Carl Bosch, Dr. Gary Hansen, and Smithsonian Institution Collections.
5.6 x 4.2 x 4 cm. This is a fine pseudomorph of galena after pyromorphite, with unusually large crystals to 3 cm. Ex. Carl Bosch, Dr. Gary Hansen, and Smithsonian Institution Collections.
7 x 4.2 x 2.7 cm. This is an outstanding example of this classic replacement with unusually large crystals to 2 cm. Ex. Dr. Gary Hansen Collection.
4.2 x 4.0 x 2.3 cm. Sharp cuboctahedrons of galena accented by little golden pyrite crystals, a nice specimen from Eastern Europe with aesthetic overall form, as the galenas are piled up in an attractive cluster.
