MD-154634 - Freibergite, Quartz - - Archived Yaogangxian Mine, Yizhang Co., Chenzhou Prefecture, Hunan Province, China miniature, 3.5 x 3.0 x 2.4 cm.
3.5 x 3.0 x 2.4 cm. A very aesthetic combination specimen from the famous Yaogangxian Mine of China. A 2.7 cm, water-clear quartz spear is beautifully nestled amongst contrasting, lustrous, very sharp, tetragonal, coppery-colored freibergite crystals on a box-work matrix of pearlescent, opalized quartz. A really cute combination specimen. The freibergite was X-rayed by the University of Arizona to confirm it mineralogy. Freibergite is an uncommon sulfosalt and this is a VERY FINE example of the species from this locality.
MD-258726 - Freibergite - - Archived Yankee Girl Mine, Poughkeepsie Gulch, Silverton District, San Juan Co., Colorado, USA thumbnail, 3.0 x 2.3 x 1.1 cm.
3.0 x 2.3 x 1.1 cm. A large, sharp, attractive, very well-formed, classic Freibergite specimen from this well- known mine in San Juan County. This specimen was a gift from the well-known Colorado collector Hall Miller to Rich Kosnar in late 1979. It shows excellent tetrahedral form with excellent striated faces. This piece was analyzed by Hal Miller, and it is indeed Freibergite, not Tennanite or Tetrahedrite.
