MD-169846 - Francevillite, Curienite - - Archived Mounana Mine (Mouana Mine), Franceville, Haut-Ogooué Province, Gabon miniature, 3.7 x 1.7 x 1.1 cm.
3.7 x 1.7 x 1.1 cm. From the type locality, this matrix specimen of Francevillite features several bright orange crystals to .5 cm across (large for the species), associated with microcrystallized bright yellow Curienite in rich profusion around them. The color is just incredible. More importantly, the crystal size is shocking for the species, with discrete crystals artistically placed on matrix as opposed to the usual "carpet"-like, solid covering or druse of micros. This now-closed mine, once a major uranium source, is the TYPE LOCALITY for both species.
MD-181005 - Francevillite, Curienite - - Archived Mounana Mine (Mouana Mine), Franceville, Haut-Ogooué Province, Gabon small cabinet, 7.7 x 6.4 x 3.7 cm.
7.7 x 6.4 x 3.7 cm. A solid, rich specimen that is almost entirely covered on the display face with beautiful orange Francevillite accented by yellow curienite. TYPE LOCALITY for both species. Tim Blackwood Collection.
MD-20877 - Francevillite, Mounanaite, Curienite - - Archived Mounana Mine (Mouana Mine), Franceville, Haut-Ogooué Province, Gabon miniature, 4 x 3.5 x 1 cm
A rich miniature-sized specimen of incredible aesthetic and scientific quality. This piece features INDIVIDUAL and ISOLATED , RELATIVELY LARGE crystals of Francevillite to several mm in size, on an attractive matrix plate - and the back side is as good as the front side! Tiny yellow-gemmy crystals of mounanaite are so abundant and rich on this specimen that they are easily eye-visible against the larger francevillites, as shown in my pics. Characteristically powdery microcrystals of orangey-yellow curienite are in association , as well. This mine closed in 1999 after 40 years of production, and this is, for quality if not size, pretty much as good as the mineral gets. It is a trim from the large specimen I obtained, below. Note that this its the type locality of ALL THREE species! 4 x 3.5 x 1 cm

MD-64420 - Francevillite, Chervetite, Curienite - - Archived Mounana Mine (Mouana Mine), Franceville, Haut-Ogooué Province, Gabon small cabinet, 8.7 x 6.1 x 2.1 cm
This specimen at first glance seems to be a pretty good francevillite (orange) with curienite (yellow). It is indeed that - very rich, colorful, and with awfully large crystals for francevillite! HOWEVER, the piece ALSO hosts outstanding, huge, really sharp crystals of the much rarer associated species Chervetite, named For French mineralogist, Jean Chervet (1904-62). Chervetite is a very uncommon lead vanadate - and few enough fine crystals of any vanadium minerals are found in these deposits in any case. This specimen has crystals that are eye-visible and attractive, to about 7-8 mm. 8.7 x 6.1 x 2.1 cm
