MD-180987 - Becquerelite, Masuyite, Fourmarierite, Uranophane - - Archived Shinkolobwe Mine (Kasolo Mine), Shinkolobwe, Central area, Katanga Copper Crescent, Katanga (Shaba), Democratic Republic of Congo (Zaïre) small cabinet, 6.2 x 5.8 x 3.1 cm.
6.2 x 5.8 x 3.1 cm. This large, rich specimen has three species for which this is the type locality: Masuyite (in red spherical aggregates), Fourmarierite (dark red/umber crystals underlying the Becquerelite and embedded in the matrix), and superb, large sprays of Becquerelite with crystals to a whopping 5mm. The matrix is uraninite.
MD-201053 - Becquerelite, Studtite, Rutherfordine, Fourmarierite, Uranophane - - Archived Shinkolobwe Mine (Kasolo Mine), Shinkolobwe, Central area, Katanga Copper Crescent, Katanga (Shaba), Democratic Republic of Congo (Zaïre) small cabinet, 6.5 x 2.5 x 1.2 cm.
6.5 x 2.5 x 1.2 cm. A rare large plate of well-crystallized Becquerelite crystals up to 1.5 mm on a bed of Uranophane. Some small rosettes of Studtite are dispersed upon the Becquerelite. Some small red hexagonal Fourmarierite crystals are associated as well as beige Rutherfordine sprays. Collected at least 50 years ago.
MD-201068 - Fourmarierite, Becquerelite, Uraninite - - Archived Shinkolobwe Mine (Kasolo Mine), Shinkolobwe, Central area, Katanga Copper Crescent, Katanga (Shaba), Democratic Republic of Congo (Zaïre) miniature, 5 x 5 x 4 cm.
5 x 5 x 4 cm. A rich example of Uraninite covered with red hexagonal Fourmarierite crystals. The crystals are associated with good sized and well formed Becquerelite crystals. Shinkolobwe is the type locality for both of Fourmarierite and Becquerelite. Ex. Carnegie Museum Collection.
MD-214965 - Studtite, Fourmarierite, Uranophane, Uraninite - - Archived Shinkolobwe Mine (Kasolo Mine), Shinkolobwe, Central area, Katanga Copper Crescent, Katanga (Shaba), Democratic Republic of Congo (Zaïre) thumbnail, 2.8 x 2.2 x 2.5 cm.
2.8 x 2.2 x 2.5 cm. Although this is a small specimen of Uraninite it is well covered with Studtite sprays up to 3 mm on a bed of Uranophane with orange Fourmarierite. The contrast is amazing and helps to make this a significant, photogenic, Studtite specimen. Fourmarierite is best known as red pseudo-hexagonal crystals but also as orange needles or "grains". On this specimen it is seen as this orange form which is much rarer but mostly overseen or taken for Curite and thus mislabeled if ever it was found in some collections. Shinkolobwe is the Type Locality for the Studtite and the Fourmarierite, a mine closed since decades.
RAD08-08 - Becquerelite with Masuyite, Fourmarierite and Uranophane - $ 2750 SOLD Shinkolobwe Mine (Kasolo Mine), Shinkolobwe, Central area, Katanga Copper Crescent, Katanga (Shaba), Democratic Republic of Congo (Zaïre) (TYPE LOCALITY for 3 species) small cabinet, 6.2 x 5.8 x 3.1 cm
This large, rich specimen has THREE species for which this is the type locality: Masuyite (in red spherical aggregates), Fourmarierite (dark red/umber crystals underlaying the BQ and embedded in the matrix), and superb, large sprays of Becquerelite with crystals to a whopping 5mm . The matrix is uraninite. Many are freestanding! In person, this is a beautiful specimen worthy of a display shelf, but its also an important combinatorial piece.
RADMUN-09 - Becquerelite with Studtite, Rutherfordine and Fourmarierite on Uranophane - $ 750 SOLD Shinkolobwe Mine, Katanga, Democratic Republic of Congo, TYPE LOCALITY for Becquerelite, Studite and Fourmarierite. small cabinet, 6.5 x 2.5 x 1.2 cm
RADMUN-13 - Fourmarierite with Becquerelite on Uraninite - $ 1500 SOLD Shinkolobwe Mine, Katanga, Democratic Republic of Congo (TYPE LOCALITY) miniature, 5 x 5 x 4 cm
RADS-40 - Studtite with Fourmarierite on Uranophane and Uraninite - $ 450 SOLD Shinkolobwe Mine, Katanga, Democratic Republic of Congo (Type Locality for Studtite and Fourmarierite ) miniature, 2.8 x 2.2 x 2.5 cm
Although this is "just" a Small specimen of Uraninite it is well covered with Studtite sprays up to 3 mm on a bed of Uranophane with orange Fourmarierite. The contrast is amazing and helps to make this a significant, photogenic, Studtite specimen among the best youc an obtain. Fourmarierite is best known as red pseudo hexagonal crystals but also as orange needles or "grains". On this specimen it is seen as this orange form which is much rarer but mostly overseen or taken for Curite and thus mislabelled if ever it wsa found in some collections. Shinkolobwe is the Type Locality for the Studtite and the Fourmarierite, a mine closed since decades. This superb combo specimen is a chance to own each, in beautiful mix, at one stroke. We think there are few such validated specimens of these rare species out there, of quality, let alone on the same specimen.
