9.9 x 7.9 x 5.8 cm. This is a very large and fine example of a rare collector’s item - one of the bizarre naturally-etched corners of a fluorite crystal from the Elmwood Mine. It has the gemmy golden corner that are one of the unique things about these; for whatever reason, the extreme corner tends to be smooth, shiny and clear vs. the rest of the specimen.
15.9 x 11.8 x 8.4 cm. A large, weird landscape of naturally-etched crystals of fluorite, with exaggerated stepping of the crystal faces. The cores of the crystals are golden-yellow, and the exteriors are a gemmy light purple. You can see dark areas of bituminous on the cluster. The largest fluorite here measures an impressive 4 cm along the edge.
15.8 x 8.8 x 8.4 cm. A very large specimen featuring beautiful crystals of the famous teal-colored "Blanchard blue" fluorite crystals, with pretty hints of purple - an unusual touch that was characteristic of this find there. The crystals measure up to 1.8 cm along the edge. One thing that makes this specimen particularly pretty is that the fluorites are isolated in patches on the stark white quartz rather than gathered in a dense mass without the quartz showing.
5.1 x 4.0 x 3.3 cm. A cluster of super-transparent cubes of fluorite, with a very slight green color that the camera could not pick up, from China. They are water-clear through the interior, with frosty bevels adding a beautiful aesthetic touch. The largest crystal here measures 2.2 cm on edge. You can see the matrix through these crystals as if you were looking through glass.
3.9 x 3.2 x 2.9 cm. This specimen is from an old stash, from an unusual pocket where the sphalerite had a stunningly colorful iridescence to it. That chink you see on the left side of the fluorite is a pocket contact that naturally healed while still in the pocket; little faces have formed on it - so it is not damage.
6.9 x 6.1 x 4.6 cm. Glassy and transparent, purple fluorite cubes to 1.3 cm richly cover the mounded, 3-dimensional sulfide matrix on this superb specimen from the Frazer’s Hush Mine of Durham, England. Many twinned crystals are scattered on this very fine piece, which is very nearly pristine, for such rich coverage. Ex. A.K. Borland Collection. Super fluorescence.
3.3 x 3.2 x 1.3 cm. Gemmy, emerald-green fluorite cubes with purple highlights on feldspar matrix form a fine miniature from recent finds in the Erongo Mountains of Namibia. The large cube is 1.2 cm and has modified corners.
9.8 x 7.3 x 6.3 cm. A superb cluster of lustrous, translucent, honey-brown fluorite cubes beautifully accented with white celestine blades from the quarries at Clay Center, Ohio. The striking, large cube is 4.4 cm and all of the cubes have gemmy corners. Nice brownish-white fluorescence. This piece, dating prior to World War II, is from the John Grieger Collection.
3.7 x 3.6 x 2.9 cm. A superb and classic purple fluorite cube on sphalerite matrix from the Elmwood Mine. This pristine crystal super edge zoning and two very nifty, notched corners. The nearly transparent crystal has beautiful, shimmering faces, which are actually secondary fluorite overgrowth crystals.
6.2 x 5.0 x 4.0 cm. A superb, neon-blue fluorite cube with a yellow core from the mid-1990s finds at the Minerva #1 Mine of Southern Illinois. The neon-blue fluorite cubes are in fine condition. Ex. Roy Smith and Brent Lockhart Collections.
5.9 x 2.5 x 2.5 cm. A superb, sculptural and aesthetic specimen from the Shangbao Mine of China. A 3.3 cm, doubly terminated, glassy, translucent, golden-amber calcite crystal is perched atop an etched and contacted sliver of colorless to faintly, light purple fluorite. Ex. Brent Lockhart Collection.
24.5 x 16.5 x 3.9 cm. A superb large cabinet plate from the mines at Naica, Mexico. Lustrous and translucent, sea-green fluorite cubes to 4.2 cm with an infinite number of second-generation fluorite overgrowths aesthetically scattered on massive sphalerite matrix covered with a variety of quartz forms. This fine, old-time piece dates to the 1970s. Ex. Brent Lockhart Collection, purchased in 1975.
8.0 x 7.5 x 4.0 cm. This is an older piece from original fluorite finds at the Yaogangxian. They have a frosty, pristine beauty about them. And, they are large - to over 3 cm along the edge. You can see offset epitaxial growths on the crystal faces.
11.8 x 9.8 x 6.8 cm. A cluster of transparent green fluorite crystals, including one huge crystal that measures 4.5 cm along the edge. The crystals are a deeper and prettier green in person. The larger crystals have pretty, natural bevels on their edges.
5.5 x 5.1 x 3.9 cm. A shallow pocket wall ringed with pinkish-red, glassy gems of rhodochrosite, to one centimeter. Also, there are two little water-clear, jewel-like fluorite crystals towards the edge of the specimen. Old material from the 1970s. Ex. Consie Prince Collection.
