5.9 x 5.4 x 3.4 cm. An unusual specimen of mint green fluorite from New York - a rich carpet of little crystals. It has a beautiful purple glow under fluorescent light.
From below, you can see that this Weardale specimen is a cluster of purple fluorite that has grown as a knob around a piece of matrix extending into a pocket; later, quartz crystals covered the surface of the fluorite cluster. At the top of the cluster is a large fluorite crystal (4 cm) that has been encased in quartz, and a purple face shows through the quartz on the display face. Ex. Colorado School of Mines. 10.5 x 7 x 4.2 cm
A specimen from the recent finds in Mexico that have brought pink fluorite in reach of the average collector. A limited number of them are trimmed this way, with a rim of stark white contrasting matrix that really sets off the crystals. The crystals here measure to about 1.5 cm, and have good deep pink color and translucency. 15.5 x 9 x 4 cm
A 27 cm (!) plate of Blanchard Mine fluorite, of the classic teal blue. Crystals measure to just over one centimeter across. Barite blades provide a pleasing accent. Plates of this size are very uncommon! NOTE: sensitive to colorfading in sunlight. IN room light, it is OK. 27 x 12 x 5 cm
A HUGE plate of fine fluorite crystals to 2.5 cm, of the classic Okarusu purple fluorite with green highlights. There is almost no damage, which is quite remarkable for a specimen of this size. This is a large, significant specimen from one of the world''s most desirable fluorite localities. It is one of the best we have had and is by far the best and largest we have put at auction 20.5 x 12 x 5 cm
These Wise Mine fluorites have a bright glowing green that is not matched in fluorites from anywhere else. This specimen is a fine, translucent floater of good size and top color. 7.5 x 4.5 x 3.1 cm
A classic Elmwood combo piece featuring a one-centimeter purple fluorite along with a few smaller one, on a matrix of sharp, lustrous sphalerite crystals, with accenting barite. You can see the sphalerite ore below, on which the crystals formed; this ore is what contained the zinc that was the whole reason for this mine, sadly closed recently, resulting in a rapidly diminishing availability of specimens. 6.5 x 5 x 3.5 cm
A cube of very dark purple fluorite perched right on top of a base of matrix with two calcite twins below! 8 x 6 x 6 cm
The fluorites on this gorgeous plate are as sharp and as good as they usually get from the Okarusu - just SUPERB transparency, razor sharpness, and the top green-purple color. Okarusus can sometime be murky, but you can see the matrix right through these crystals! They measure to 1.3 cm on edge. What''s more, there are pretty quartz crystal clusters interspersed amongst the fluorites. The specimen shows VERY little damage for such a large piece - two or three dinged corners, but you have to look for them, so they really don''t detract on a piece of this magnitude. 19 x 12.5 cm
10.8 x 7.9 x 6.2 cm. Purple crystals of complex form with a very large 5-cm crystal draped over in sparkly quartz. This large crystal is wrapped by a row of smaller ones, which are also inside their own blanket of quartz.
7.9 x 7.8 x 6.4 cm. Classic "Blanchard blue" fluorites on a quartz-covered matrix, with crystals to 1.5 cm along the edge. The crystals have good translucency, and hints of purple here and there. In one place, the quartz has wrapped itself around some highly modified, colorless fluorites.
8.8 x 5.6 x 4.9 cm. A rare, perfect sphere of opaque white fluorite, sitting like an egg on a plate of lustrous amethyst crystals. This unique fluorite ball measures 3.5 cm.
12.5 x 11.8 x 6.8 cm. This is a very large and just fascinating pseudomorph specimen from a find in the Atlas Mountains of Morocco. What you have is this huge blocky crystal of fluorite, 7.5 cm across the edge that has been pseudomorphed by sparkly quartz. The big cube has these interesting raised ridges on it - reason unknown - and beside it are other strange forms, including a lip-like projection that was also certainly a pseudomorph but after what, it is unclear (though probably a calcite). Hematite inclusions give the quartz its coloration. Not only is this specimen interesting and unusual, but it has beautiful architectural form due to the preservation of the pseudomorphed original crystals of fluorite.
6.5 x 4.5 x 3.5 cm. A single large (2-cm) fluorite crystal dominates this specimen, combining the familiar "Blanchard Blue" color with hints of purple, an unusual phenomenon seen in a recent find there. Near the large crystal on the pretty bed of quartz crystals are scattered some small, jewel-like purple fluorites.
4.3 x 3.8 x 2.3 cm. A "classic" specimen of "Blanchard Blue" fluorite on quartz, with two very large intergrown, compound crystals. They measure around 2 centimeters across. There is just a bit of accenting matrix with quartz crystals, providing contrast.
