7.0 x 6.7 x 5.0 cm. A superb cluster of pristine, emerald-green fluorite cubes from the famous Okorusu Mine of Namibia. The specimen is beautifully capped by the largest cube, 2.5 cm, which is highlighted by purple banding running through several crystals. The crystals are transparent, with the crystal faces being glassy to lightly frosted. Ex. Martaud Collection.
11.0 x 8.0 x 5.5 cm. A showy, old-time cabinet specimen of lustrous, glassy, colorless fluorite cubes to 3.4 cm aesthetically and richly strewn on a matrix of lustrous, brown siderite blades. This classic specimen is from the ancient Ludwig-Vereinigt-Feld Mine of Saxony, Germany, which worked iron- and copper-bearing fluorite veins. The mine closed in 1991. Excellent fluorescence.
You can display this fine fluorite specimen from either side, depending on whether you prefer the isolation of crystals (and the large crystal) on one side, or the more complete covering crystals on the other. The crystals are sharp, deep transparent purple/green, and the quartz crystals add an extra element that is uncommon in these specimens, making this really exceptional for Okarusu. The matrix here evidently protruded into a pocket, allowing fine crystals to form all the way around it! 8 x 7.5 x 4.5 cm
8.2 x 5.2 x 5.2 cm. A large, showy, very colorful cluster of cubic fluorites to 4 cm in size, from a very old locale.
11.8 x 8.0 x 2.6 cm. Sharp, isolated sphalerites to 2 cm across sit nicely on clear, translucent fluorite crystals - a classic association for this old mid-1800s mining district.
13.0 x 12.8 x 7.0 cm. A sculptural, freeform cabinet combination specimen from the Richard Hauck quartz collection and the Deardorff Mine of the famous Southern Illinois Fluorite District. Lustrous, glassy, milky quartz comprises most of the piece. One side of the central stalk has purple fluorite cubes, while the other side has a scattering of lustrous, black sphalerite crystals.
7.0 x 6.0 x 3.9 cm. A very glassy and transparent, 1.9 cm pair of interpenetrating fluorite cubes set on matrix covered with smaller fluorite cubes. The large cubes are amazingly limpid and have fine blue-green, rainbow-like color dispersion (natural fluorescence). Ex. George Elling Collection.
5.6 x 5.5 x 2.4 cm. This fine specimen is from a very short-lived find in an incredibly inhospitable locality in the Sahara Desert. After getting specimens out for awhile, the two guys who found them eventually gave up, since the specimens were isolated and not in pockets with lots of specimens, so that it just took too much work in awful conditions to make it worthwhile. They have a smooth silkiness to them, and a very different-looking and gorgeous glowing purple color.
8.9 x 5.5 x 5.5 cm. Two large, sharp crystals of fluorite on matrix from Clay Center. Both measure about 3 cm along the edge. They have the amber color and translucency typical for this locality. The two crystals lean attractively from the center, and there are some bladed crystals of celestine alongside one of the fluorites, and a small light yellow calcite next to the other.
11.9 x 10.4 x 5.3 cm. The matrix here is covered on all sides with gemmy, golden crystals of fluorite. You can also see some colorless, transparent calcite twins in a patch to one side of the specimen.
7.9 x 4.8 x 3.3 cm. A beautiful example of Blanchard fluorite, with unusually deep and saturated "Blanchard Blue" teal color, along with unusual purple shading to some of the crystals, making it particularly attractive. The crystals measure to 1.4 cm on edge.
8.8 x 6.6 x 5.9 cm. This fluorite has a light-green color. In addition to being clear, this is really big - 6 cm along the edge. The attached smaller crystals create a nice accent for the main crystal.
15.9 x 9.9 x 6.4 cm. This is from a very unusual find of colorless fluorite from Berbes - the purple/blue is much more familiar. There are actually quite visible phantoms inside these crystals. They measure to 2.5 cm along the edge. Around the edges of the specimen are some beautiful, very complex stepped crystals that add a nice accent. And on the other end of the specimen are pretty, bladed white baryte crystals.
7.9 x 7.9 x 3.2 cm. A superb and beautiful plate of bright blue-green cubes of fluorite with what is identified on the label as "sugar quartz" - a pretty sprinkling of sparkly little beta-style quartz crystals. Ex. Ed. David Collection.
12.9 x 7.1 x 5.4 cm. A cluster of big crystals, to 3.5 cm along the edge, of bright honey color with highlights of purple. The crystals have these wonderfully bright and gemmy corners.
