10.4 x 5.2 x 2.9 cm. This is a rare De’An Mine specimen where the pyrites are on a bed of light pastel purple fluorite, adding to the attractiveness. The pyrites measure to 1 cm.
20.7 x 11.8 x 4.5 cm. A large plate of large fluorite cubes (to 5 cm across) that have been pseudomorphed by spiky quartz crystals. The pseudomorphs sit on a bed of larger, more transparent quartz crystals of a different generation. Ex. Richard Hauck Collection.
7.9 x 7.3 x 5.5 cm. This is a fine, large, ornate compound crystal of Illinois fluorite. It is transparent internally, with a silky exterior luster. Inside are zoning bands of teal blue, and towards the exterior a band of dark purple. You can see little calcites attached here and there.
14.4 x 14.1 x 7.5 cm. A very large plate covered with glittering golden-yellow crystals of fluorite, from Spain. The crystals are not large, but are razor-sharp and very gemmy, with a superb, glassy luster.
13.8 x 8.4 x 3.9 cm. Three fluorite clusters of intergrown crystals, of a pure, glassy quality, spaced perfectly on a matrix plate covered with snowy micro quartz. The large, rectangular crystal on one end of the matrix measures 3.2 cm.
9.8 x 6.9 x 3.9 cm. A highly modified octahedron of glowing, translucent green fluorite, nestled amongst thin plates of sparkly, snowy quartz. The fluorite measures 4 cm across.
10.4 x 7.8 x 5.3 cm. This is a pocket of gorgeous, sharp purple fluorite crystals, from a find at the Tule Mine in Mexico. There are about ten sensational crystals here, measuring to 1.5 cm.
8.4 x 4.3 x 3.1 cm. A stacked, graduated "tower" of purple fluorite crystals from Illinois, with internal zoning culminating in a deep scarlet line just inside the exterior faces.
10.4 x 8.2 x 6.5 cm. A large and interesting, if somewhat color-challenged, example of the botryoidal fluorite from a year or so ago in China. The surface is typically purple, but in this case, the fluorite turned back to white in the last stages of growth, as the pocket solution changed and the ions responsible for the purple color were no longer present. So, it is white in some areas and purple in others.
10.4 x 6.4 x 1.8 cm. A plate of matrix-free crystals of fluorite, purple with golden and scarlet hues internally. This ridge is completely covered with crystals, front, back and all around; the plate of crystals evidently came loose in the pocket at some point, allowing crystals to form even on what once was the "back" side.
11.4 x 9.4 x 7.5 cm. This is a very thick knob of solid fluorite that formed around a thin ridge of matrix, the impression of which you can still see on the underside. Typical of fluorite from Musquiz, the surface is ornately covered with small stepped cubic forms.
9.5 x 5.4 x 4.8 cm. Glassy, transparent, lavender crystals of fluorite from England, measuring to 1.7 cm along the face.
11.4 x 11.3 x 5.9 cm. Here is a cluster of huge, glassy crystals of fluorite - to 6.5 cm along the edge. These crystals are really transparent - the main crystal in particular, which looks like green glass through the center.
14.8 x 12.9 x 7.1 cm. A very large plate covered with glittering golden-yellow crystals of fluorite, from Spain. The crystals are not large, but are razor-sharp and very gemmy, with a flashy, glassy luster.
8.9 x 8.9 x 3.9 cm. Glowing crystals of purple fluorite ring a rich mass of crystallized sphalerite, the zinc ore that was the focus of mining at the Elmwood for decades before it closed maybe 5 years ago. The fluorites measure to 1.7 cm along the edge. You can see how the deep coffee-colored sphalerite has formed large euhedral forms on the surface of which are hundreds of small, complex sub-crystals.
