11.8 x 10.8 x 6.4 cm. A large Illinois "classic" combo specimen, with zoned cubes of fluorite surrounding a central cluster of large sphalerites. The big fluorites, to 3.5 cm across, have golden-yellow cores wrapped in transparent purple. Sparkly baryte covers the back of the specimen, and you can see some accenting white crystals on the main display face as well.

5.8 x 3.8 x 2.0 cm. A highly lustrous and striated complete all-around and undamaged, jet-black ferberite crystal is highlighted by a 1.6 cm, upright, water-clear, flower petal-like, twinned calcite crystal. A colorless quartz crystal lies next to the calcite and the ferberite is lightly peppered with fluorite microcrystals.

8.5 x 5.5 x 4.0 cm. Superb and uncommon, very glassy, transparent, light purple fluorite dodecahedrons to 1.6 cm are scattered on matrix covered with glassy, colorless quartz crystals and nicely accented with calcite rosettes. A superb combination piece from the Nikolaevskiy Mine at Dal’negorsk. Note that the fluorites are even more interesting for their wispy inclusions of what seems to be acicular quartz, grown through them like needles into the purple depths.

7.3 x 6.2 x 3.8 cm. Botryoidal fluorites are rare from anywhere, so this find of large purple specimens from China caused a big stir, and the specimens were swept up quickly. This is a very thick and rich one, with no bruises on the botryoidal surface.

7.8 x 7.2 x 6.2 cm. A very large compound crystal of golden-yellow fluorite from Hardin County, mined in November of 1995 according to the accompanying information. The golden core is wrapped by a pretty purple/blue clear rind. The tiny specks you see are little chalcopyrites embedded in the surface of the fluorite crystal.

9.7 x 5.4 x 4.3 cm. A specimen from the find of razor-sharp purple and green fluorite octahedrons in quartz, maybe 4 years or so ago, in China. These pretty crystals have green bodies with purple tips; they measure to 1.5 cm along the edge.

11.8 x 8.9 x 5.9 cm. A very interesting pseudomorph specimen from China, where sparkly microcrystals of quartz have pseudomorphed crystals of a first generation of Calcite that has been completely replaced leaving sharp scalenohedral forms. These pseudomorphs sit on a large chunk of massive green fluorite.

6.4 x 3.8 x 1.9 cm. A rare, old-time combination specimen from the famous Cryolite Deposit at Ivigtut, Greenland. It has a druse of lustrous, pink fluorite microcrystals (rounded, lustrous, sub-mm size) nicely perched atop a solid vein of fibrous, snow-white cryolite. Minor siderite as well. This classic piece, certainly around 100 years old, comes with an old handwritten German label from the Bergakademie at Freiberg.

18.2 x 9.0 x 5.8 cm. A big, unusual combo piece probably from the 1980s. It has bladed, black, lustrous crystals of hubnerite, to 2.5 cm emplaced on colorless, glassy and gemmy quartz crystals to 5.0 cm in length. Along with these, you have pastel accents of colorless fluorite crystals with green centers, to 2.2 cm across. Ex. Carnegie Museum Collection.

Fluorite from Blanchard Mine (Portalas-Blanchard Mine), Bingham, Hansonburg District, Socorro Co., New Mexico, USA [db_pics/mdpics/MD-184632a.jpg]

8.4 x 6.8 x 4.6 cm. This is a really interesting Blanchard fluorite, in that in addition to having crystals of the classic "Blanchard blue", it also has a separate cluster of purple crystals - and the largest crystal is "half-and-half". Rare to have both on the same specimen. The big "half and half" crystal measures 2 cm along the edge. The clusters are nicely isolated on a bed of quartz crystals.
