9.7 x 6.5 x 6.0 cm. A MONSTER, 4.6 cm, pink, octahedral fluorite crystal AESTHETICALLY set atop quartz matrix from Mt. Blanc, France! The fluorite is complete all-around and is TOTALLY PRISTINE. The color is a pleasing, deep, rose-pink and the huge crystal has good translucency. The few natural cracks in the fluorite are noted, but are certainly not a detraction. Ex. Rolf Wein Collection, a noted Alpine collector.
7.4 x 7.1 x 3.8 cm. This fluorite has good sharpness and size of these octahedrons. The big crystal measures 4 cm tip-to-tip, and is surrounded by little crystals on the contrasting white quartz matrix.
7.9 x 5.4 x 4.4 cm. A fine fluorite specimen from a locality that has not produced specimens in any quantity, compared to other Chinese fluorite localities. The larger crystal here is a modified cube, just over 2 cm across, with bevels at the edges and thousands of tiny micro stepped faces that give the crystal a silky surface. A smaller version of the crystal sits nearby. The matrix is small, milky quartz crystals on massive quartz.
20.5 x 19.5 x 10.6 cm. A whopper cluster of huge fluorite octahedrons! These monsters measure to over 8 cm along the edge, and have this gorgeous green glow to them that is VERY close to the appearance of those green Grant County fluorites. That white line you see is not damage, but a natural healed fracture. A TRULY impressive and showy fluorite specimen!
19.8 x 14.9 x 3.1 cm. These are MINED OUT now! We were lucky to have had a relationship that allowed us access to the good specimens of this material. Until these pink fluorites were discovered in Mexico, Peru and the Alps were the only sources for pink fluorite, and the cost of a specimen such as this was (and still is) astronomical from those localities. These octahedrons measure up to 2 cm.
13.5 x 7.0 x 5.7 cm. An EXCELLENT and VERY SHOWY mounded CABINET specimen covered with very glassy, water-clear fluorite cubes to 1.4 cm with brown zoning from Woodville, Ohio. Most of the crystals are also included with mossy, off-white barite, giving a very nice effect. Fine material from this well-known locality, from the George Feist Collection #1301. Excellent white fluorescence. Very nearly pristine.
8.3 x 4.6 x 3.4 cm. An UNCOMMON and EXCELLENT combination specimen from Butte of translucent, frosted, lavender fluorite cubes aesthetically placed on massive enargite matrix RICHLY covered with lustrous, black enargite crystals and nicely complimented by sprays of tiny, needle quartz crystals. This showy, OLD-TIME specimen is from the famous Leonard Mine and is from the John Ydren Collection. Well crystallized fluorite is not that common at Butte and this is a GOOD one.
9.5 x 5.9 x 2.4 cm. Razor-sharp octahedra of purple fluorite, dramatically isolated on a starkly contrasting matrix of quartz, from the finds of around 3 years ago that got everyone so stirred up as perhaps the major find of that year, certainly in China and perhaps worldwide. The largest crystal here is around 2.7 cm tip-to-tip.
4.5 x 2.9 x 2.9 cm. A cluster of glassy crystals of fluorite with beautiful blushes of purple inside, made particularly pretty by the frosted bevels around the "window" faces. The crystals measure to one centimeter - an adorable specimen!
12.4 x 10.4 x 7.1 cm. When the fluorite find was made in De’An, two kinds were found: the octahedrons, and then these much rarer tetradecagonal crystals. This is a HUGE one for the find, and beyond that, it is TRANSPARENT - so many of them are an almost opaque dark purple. This huge crystal (7.5 cm) actually has one of those dark purple crystals in its center, but the outer centimeter or so is transparent. The crystal is surrounded by a nest of CRYSTALLIZED quartz rather than just massive quartz. No more are coming out, except for specimens mined earlier that are still being cleaned and put on the market.
10.4 x 7.5 x 4.4 cm. A large cluster of fine cubes of transparent fluorite from China. These Xianghualing fluorites are absolutely glassy. They have frosty bevels that add to the attractiveness, framing the glass-clear "windows". In person, there is more green color - it is very subtle so the camera does not pick it up very well. The crystals measure to 3 cm across.
15.9 x 12.1 x 6.4 cm. Xianghualing has turned out glassy fluorites, one of which appears in this set of auctions. But recently, it also began producing these very large, translucent green octahedral crystals, in large plates such as this one. The central crystal here measures over 6 cm tip-to-tip!
10.4 x 7.1 x 5.3 cm. A terrific specimen of Weardale fluorite from the find of 1991, with crystals of the top quality: highly-transparent, a gorgeous limpid green. There are a couple of contacts, but the crystals in the main cluster are in super condition. Crystals measure to 1.5 cm. Fine English fluorites in good shape have always been greatly valued by collectors. Highly fluorescent - you can see the purple glow some of the crystals are taking on under halogen in the photo - take these outside and they fluoresce beautifully in natural light!
5.1 x 4.4 x 2.3 cm. Botryoidal fluorites are rare, and therefore there was big excitement with this find of stunning purple botryoidal fluorite in China. Sizes ranged from cute thumbers to very large cabinet specimens.
6.0 x 5.4 x 3.7 cm. An imposing specimen of totally gemmy, light sea-green, cuboctahedral fluorite crystals. Some crystals have distinct, stepped-growth faces and the scattering of included pyrite crystals is a very nice accent. Many of the cuboct crystal faces are lightly frosted, but some are water-clear, giving a neat television-like view in to the crystal interior. From the recent find at Naica. Classic material.
