16.5 x 11.6 x 2.7 cm. The mining of these is FINISHED now! We were lucky to have a relationship that allowed us access to the good specimens of this material. Until these pink fluorites were discovered in Mexico, Peru and the Alps were the only sources for pink fluorite, and the cost of a specimen such as this was (and still is) astronomical from those localities. This is one of our last remaining plates of good quality, with good deep color and translucency; and it is BIG! These octahedrons measure up to 2 cm on edge.

4.6 x 4.1 x 3.4 cm. These are just impossible to shoot. In person, this glass-clear fluorite is light green, not colorless. The faces are like clear windows into the gemmy interior, and they are accented by frosted bevels. Very pretty and MUCH better in person!

12.3 x 8.3 x 4.2 cm. A CLASSIC, OLD-TIME, early 1800s, CABINET fluorite plate from the famous Heights Mine of England. This fine piece features lustrous, glassy, interpenetrating fluorite cubes to 1.8 cm on limestone matrix. Typically, for Heights fluorites, the green cubes turn purple (natural fluorescence) in nearly all lighting conditions. Color change in outdoor, natural sunlight is particularly striking, as you can see. SUPER fluorescence. Ex. George Elling Collection.

5.5 x 4.0 x 3.8 cm. A MOST UNUSUAL and showy, bi-colored, cuboctahedral fluorite crystal on stepped and frosted fluorite and sphalerite from the very recent finds at the Gibralter Mine at Naica, Mexico. Part of the super gemmy and glassy cuboct fluorite and the stepped fluorite is totally colorless, while most of the fluorite is a very pleasing green. Some of the cuboct faces are also very lightly frosted, while others are water-clear, with a television-like view into the crystal interior. The distinct color zoning is remarkable and the photos can only convey a portion of their true likeness, due to the high lustre and glassiness. The cuboct is damage-free. This is classic Naica material.

Charlie had a whole pocket of these strange fluorites, like no others I have personally seen on the market at any time from the area. This is the largest piece from his stash, and is very much more dramatic in person. It features highly modified crystals of fluorite with (for lack of a better word) "bubbly" cubic fluorite outgrowths from oriented faces of an underlaying octahedral fluorite. They are green and gemmy with purple highlights. The piece as a whole is sparkly due to a thin coating of bright little calcites. 14.8 x 12.1 x 7.1 cm

Fluorite from Okorusu Mine (Okarusu Mine), Otjiwarongo District, Otjozondjupa Region, Namibia [db_pics/mdpics/MD-132908a.jpg]

Classic older material from this locality, more gemmy and bright than specimens which are coming out today from the essential stripmining near the earlier finds. These older specimens from the 1980s stand out immediately from the larger, thicker crystals of todays finds (often darker in color, but not as gemmy and so of a different style). MORE green and gemmy in person! This is a large specimen in unusually pristine condition, that shows dramatically becase so much light is transmitted through the freestanding crystals on all the edges 10.6 x 9.5 x 8.0 cm

Charlie had only one flat of this very unusual association, which he said was found at the end of the 1990s here. The fluorites here are mattte-green, but translucent, and they sit on contrasting amethyst crystals to 1 cm in size. The largest fluorite on this plate is 2 cm. 6.0 x 5.4 x 2.3 cm

This specimen comes from the Uis tin mine, from the 1970s or earlier according to Charlie. It features a large freestanding crystal perched on quartz matrix - and the crystal is , in person, translucent and of a nice pastel green color. Such specimens are extremely hard to obtain today and , especially in such aesthetic form, are rare in fluorite collections. 11.8 x 6.8 x 6.5 cm

The fluorites here are mattte-green, but translucent, and they sit on contrasting amethyst crystals to 2 cm in size. The largest fluorite on this plate, which is also our largest specimen of the pocket, is 3.6 cm. These are octahedral, translucent crystals and on the edges have oriented outgrowths of minute cubic faces. I cannot think of a fluorite on amethyst association from any other locality . 17.2 x 13.0 x 3.8 cm

An absolutely ugly fluorite cluster serves host to some absolutely fantastic locality ferberite crystals, that are sharp and well formed from any place but particularly rare in the suite of minerals found in the Erongos. Charlie valued this highly and took care to point it out to us in the collection. These ferberites, he said, were the best he was ever able to obtain and frankly i had NEVER even heard of such crystals being reported from the region so i was shocked. 10.1 x 7.0 x 4.6 cm

Extremely rare both for this locality or for ANY location, this association just amazed me when Charlie identified what it was for us during packing of the collection. Like the above specimen, it is not the best of species, but it IS significant nonetheless for its proof of the complexity of minerals to be found here and to any Erongo suite others may be assembling. Charlie spent a LONG TIME there...and he was pretty impressed by these. 5.5 x 4 x 3 cm

12.9 x 9.9 x 6.8 cm. A large specimen from the NEW fluorite finds at the Okarusu mine. This is a big, rich plate of dark purple crystals, measuring to 2.3 cm on edge. Some of the crystals around the periphery are a very light yellow to colorless, with the purple appearing as blushes of color inside.
