6.9 x 5.6 x 2.9 cm. From new finds, this is a 3 x 2.5 x 2.5 cm crystal of complexly formed fluorite, perched on quartz. It has one contacted side in back, otherwise complete though. The quartz coating is often dissolved OFF these fluorites but here has been left on.
3 x 2.3 x 2.2 cm. This thumbnail is just a glowing neon-green 1.5 cm fluorite cube, perfectly perched on a sharp of white feldspar…stunning thumbnail specimen!
5.8 x 3.5 x 3.0 cm. A very rare yellow fluorite from the Erongo Mtns, a color not normally seen. This 3-dimensional knob is complete around the back and glows with intense color.
5.0 x 4.6 x 3.8 cm. A flashy cluster of really gemmy, teal-blue, fluorites with internal phantoms from older material found here in the 1980s.
10.7 x 10.1 x 5.8 cm. A sharp Chinese fluorite from production of the late 1990s with very gemmy crystals to 3.5 cm in size.
6.3 x 5.5 x 2.5 cm. BEAUTIFUL INTENSE GREEN, translucent cubic fluorites to 1 cm, with intricate schorl accents, all on white matrix of feldspar! GORGEOUS contrast here!
16.2 x 6.2 x 3.3 cm. A cluster of transparent fluorite crystals, to 1.2 cm on edge, piled up in the center of a long shard of contrasting white matrix. The crystals have a very light blue pastel hue.
8.6 x 6.5 x 3.7 cm. A plate of golden fluorite crystals ringed with modified rhombohedrons of translucent, milky calcite - from Spain. This association is common from this locality.
7.2 x 4.7 x 3.4 cm. A gorgeous specimen from Peru -- perched at the tips of a cluster of sharp and very gemmy quartz crystals are these highly-modified, light sea foam green crystals of fluorite. The specimen is pretty from all sides, with the same fluorites and gemmy quartz points all the way around.
6.8 x 4.1 x 3.4 cm. A cluster of TRANSPARENT, light green (the color does not come through well in the pics) crystals of fluorite, with beautiful beveled edges, from China. The large crystals measure to 3 cm across the edge.
28 x 19 x 5.5 cm. Outrageously good museum-sized plate of light grayish-purple 2 cm cubes of Fluorite. The cubes (there must be over 60 of them!) have excellent luster and the classic superb fluorescence for which the term actually was derived. Yes, the effect of fluorescence was defined based on glowing fluorite from this locality! To raise the bar even more, there are well-formed Galenas to over 5 cm which have very good luster. Greater yet, there are three generations of epitaxial growth that go quartz-galena-quartz. I have rarely seen an English Fluorite this large that matches this superb specimen for quality and interest. An amazing combination piece from one of the world's great fluorite districts. A true old-time classic from the J. Cilen Collection. Locality is almost certainly Blackdene Mine in Weardale. But, it could be one of several mines in the area that were operating over time.
27.5 x 20 x 11 cm. Colorado classic from the famous Sunnyside Mine. This is one of the largest, if not the largest, Fluorite that I have seen from the mine. The frosted translucent crystals have a delicate blue-green color and a cubic form with slight stepping along some of the faces. The lustre is matte, but the form is good and the color very pleasing especially when backlit. The specimen is in remarkably good condition, and is highly desirable. Even better in person. The largest Fluorites range from 7-9 cm, while the sharp cubes in the middle of the specimen are about 5 cm on edge. This is the first of a number of specimens to be released from the Jeff Starr Collection (specializing in Fluorite).
8.5 x 7.0 x 4.8 cm. A showy and excellent combination piece from the 1992 Museum Pocket at the famous and now-closed Sweet Home Mine of large tetrahedrite crystals to 3.5 cm attractively covered with and surrounded by clear to frosted, light blue fluorite cubes and needle quartz crystals on sulfide matrix. This is the pocket that produced the famous large diorama exhibit in the Denver Museum of Natural History.
4.0 x 2.6 x 2.6 cm. A STRIKING English CABINET piece of gray quartz pseudomorphing cubic fluorite crystals; and beautifully sprinkled with two steel-gray galena crystals and tiny, complex sphalerite crystals from Alston Moor. The back is covered with sphalerite crystals. CLASSIC, OLD-TIME English material of each species - but rare in such an unusual combo.
9.0 x 8.8 x 4.8 cm. This is a specimen of razor-sharp, glass-clear OCTAHEDRONS of fluorite from Dal’negorsk - beautifully isolated on a matrix with a covering of a rusty-red iron mineral that provides the perfect backdrop for them. The fluorites measure to 1.8 cm. I assure you that you do NOT see these with any Russian dealers anymore - any old stock they had of them is long gone, and they do not reappear on the market out of collections often either.
