PKN1 - Fluorite (botryoidal) - $ 1250
Jalgaon, Maharashtra, India

Fluorite (botryoidal) from Jalgaon, Maharashtra, India [db_pics/pics/pkn1a.jpg]

This is without doubt one of the largest botryoidal fluorites I have seen from India. The color is a light lemony yellow with reasonable luster, and is accented nicely by the colorless drusy quartz matrix. All in all, this is an extremely showy piece. The size of the botryoidal growth is shocking! Because of this, i consider the specimen fairly significant even by worldwide standards - not something i can normally say with a straight face about an Indian fluorite

Perched on a bed of clear terminated quartz crystals is a complete, 1 cm across, light yellow sphere of fluorite. Truly lovely! Good thumbnail-sized examples of this habit are actually quite rare.

PREMU-J4D05 - Fluorite - SOLD
Nikolaevsky Mine, Dalnegorsk, Russia

small cabinet, 8 x 4.5 x 3 cm
share specimen

Sorry, we have no images of this specimen at present.

Complex modified cubes of WATER-CLEAR fluorite from Dalnegorsk, with exquisite edge bevels and other "cut-glass" growth effects. These fine crystals, measuring to about an inch 2.3 cm along the edge, are presented on a sparing, carefully-trimmed matrix; and actually extend out to wrap over the sides of the matrix in an attractive way. This specimen is from a 2003 find in Dalnegorsk.

PREMU-J4D07 - Fluorite on Quartz - SOLD
Nikolaevsky Mine, Dalnegorsk, Russia

small cabinet, 7 x 5.5 x 5.1 cm
share specimen

Sorry, we have no images of this specimen at present.

A very unusual and beautiful Dalnegorsk fluorite from a find in 2004 the the Nikolaevsky! These glowing, silky, LAVENDER crystals measure up to 3.5 cm. I have never seen fluorite of precisely this color and style form the location before, and the pleasant lavender hue makes an unusually standout addition to any Dalnegorsk collection, I'd think

PREMU-J4D26 - Fluorite with Quartz ps. after Barite - SOLD
Xianghualing Mine, Linwu, Hunan Province, China

cabinet, 11 x 8.5 x 6.5 cm
share specimen

Sorry, we have no images of this specimen at present.

This specimen is distinguished for TWO reasons: one, the quality of the gemmy, large fluorite that caps it; and two, the wonderful pseudomorph crystal opposite it atop the specimen. The fluorite (a compound crystal) is over 3 cm on edge, very gemmy, with wonderful bright green color. The pseudomorph features small white quartz crystals which have retained the sharp form of the large barite crystal.

PREMU-J4D32 - Fluorite (Phantoms) - SOLD
Spivey mine, Minerva Oil Co., Goose Creek group,, Hardin County, Illinois, USA

cabinet, 18 x 12 x 6.8 cm
share specimen

ex.  Tom Wiesner

Sorry, we have no images of this specimen at present.

A MAJOR rarity in the world of Illinois fluorite, featuring not only very large crystal size (there is a crystal here that measures over 6 cm along the edge!), but also, wonderful zoning, with dark purple phantoms glowing in the center of the lighter-colored exteriors. the Minerva #1 mine was a separate mine owned by the Minerva Oil Co. about 4 miles SE of the Spivey. The Spivey is also referred to as the Green mine in some ISGS literature and is (mis)spelled "Greene mine" on one ISGS Geologic map.

This is a massively large, and yet aesthetic, specimen of scheelite from the classic old locality of this tin mine. Scheelite from this location is highly desirable for its rarity and size, and yet extremely uncommon on the market today. It is probably 50 years or more out of the ground. The specimen features a single huge scheelite with attached quartz, purple fluorite clusters, and a small gem green fluorite cube at the lower-right. Most of these are so clunky and ugly, you don't think of them as display calibre, as opposed to "interesting reference pieces." This , though, is a notable exception and proven by the fact that Steve purchased it long ago...he collects classics only when they are as aesthetic as you could ask for, and remain in good shape. It has excellent display "horizons" and shows dramatically. The front and sides are pristine, the back contacted flatly where it had been growing against matrix in the past. It is hands down the best such example I have ever had for sale, and I have not marked it up from our trade price so I think it is a real bargain for the significance of what it is.

PREMU06-10 - FLUORITE - SOLD

FLUORITE from Minerva Mine, Hardin County, Illinois, USA [db_pics/pics/premu06-10a.jpg]

This is an unusually glassy and bright YELLOW fluorite, the rarer color from the region, with a phantom outer layer of rich purple. It is nicely accented by small, sparkling barite and calcite crystals! In person, it is somewhat better - its hard to shoot because of the lustre and the mix of internal colors.

ex. Irv Brown Collection This is a phenomenal miniature from the one most famous fluorite pocket of Peru, from the fall of 1981. After 25 years of being out in the collecting community, most specimens are still safely in collections and these are VERY SELDOM on the open market. This is as fine a miniature as any I have seen come about, with spectacularly gemmy crystals of a pink color, characteristic of this pocket. The aesthetics are good, with all crystals showing faces towards teh display face and the few minor contacts relatively hidden from view. These have stood the test of time, with no more such crystals being found since.
