These specimens were one of the few “new sensations” at the Tucson Show last year , especially as new finds were so scarce this year in general. We EXPECTED to see more at Denver but there were none to be had except for this small parcel which the collector had saved for us, based on a commitment we made right after Tucson when they flew off the shelves. THESE ARE THE ONLY SPECIMENS WE HAVE SEEN SINCE TUCSON! HE HAD NOT FOUND ANOTHER LARGE POCKET SINCE! At any rate, here is another shot to get one if you did not the first time around! This quartz crystal has purple-blue, sharp fluorite crystals included inside. The fluorites grew on the face of the quartz crystal at some point during its development in the pocket, and were later engulfed as the quartz continued its growth. The quartz crystal is more “silky” than lustrous in appearance. Crystal-in-crystal inclusions of this sort are of course quite exceptional, and are more often a one-off “oddity” than an entire pocket. 7.6 x 1.5 x 1.4 cm
A super thumber of Indiana fluorite, with a gemmy, golden crystal measuring 1.4 cm on edge on a sparing matrix, surrounded by smaller crystals. 2.6 x 2.2 x 2.2 cm
This is a RARE color for the Okarusu: a frosty light purple, with crystals to 2.5 cm on edge. Sawn flat on back to remove it from the pocket, as is normal for these. 11.2 x 9.1 x 2.8 cm
We are lucky to have a relationship that has allowed us access to the good specimens of this material. Until these pink fluorites were discovered in Mexico, Peru and the Alps were the only sources for pink fluorite, and the cost of a specimen such as this was (and still is) astronomical from those localities. Occasionally, such as with this particular piece, you get the wonderful clarity of an Alpine piece as well. These octahedrons measure up to 2 cm on edge. 10.1 x 9.4 x 3.9 cm
The find of these fluorites caused a big stir a couple of years back. They sold quickly and then the mining was finished for good. This fine example if from a stash of about 6 specimens that we put aside. This one even has some small cubic crystals on top of the octahedrons, representing a THIRD generation of growth in an entirely diffferent form! Size: 15.9 x 10.8 x 8.0 cm
Classic, very glassy, pastel-green, stepped, modified cubic fluorite crystals with galena from Naica, Mexico. The fluorite crystals also have purple areas. All of the large cubes are pristine. MUCH, MUCH BETTER IN PERSON. Ex Marty Lewadny Collection. 7.2 x 5.0 x 4.3 cm
A BEAUTIFUL and SHOWY specimen of three, light brick-red fluorite balls to 8 mm in a vug lined with translucent, gray quartz crystals, These Indian fluorites are considered to be the finest fluorite balls in the world and the red balls are the most desireable. 3.7 x 2.8 x 1.7 cm
Super-sharp, translucent fluorite octahedra (to over 5 cm!) of a light pastel green, growing on the flat "contact" side of another cluster of crystals! This was evidently a very thin sheet of matrix on both sides of which crystals grew, and then later the matrix fell away. You can still see the thin "slot" where the matrix was. Some rough spots on corners, but overall in good shape. Greener, prettier and more impressive in person! 9.2 x 8.4 x 5.6 cm
Rarely, specimens come out of the Blanchard that have the classic teal-blue crystals but with PURPLE highlights - like this one! The crystals here measure to 0.8 cm and show wonderful transparency. 13.6 x 10.6 x 5.1 cm
A transparent cube of golden fluorite from Indiana, on sparing matrix . . has one corner ding but overall in good shape and nicely representative of these. 3.2 x 2.5 x 2.3 cm
We are lucky to have a relationship that has allowed us access to the good specimens of this material. Until these pink fluorites were discovered in Mexico, Peru and the Alps were the only sources for pink fluorite, and the cost of a specimen such as this was (and still is) astronomical from those localities. The shallow octahedrons on this specimen measure up to 1.8 cm on edge. This one has really fine deep pink color! 18.5 x 7.5 x 2.3 cm
A SUPER, very nearly pristine cluster of transparent and lustrous, golden-amber fluorite cubes to 2.4 cm on a bit of matrix from Aouli, Morocco. A trivial bit of edge bruising is barely noticeable. This fine piece has many display possibilities. 7.0 x 6.5 x 4.2 cm
A EXCELLENT fluorite thumbnail of a near-transparent, lustrous octohedron of the VERY BEST rose-pink color from the Argentiere Glacier at Chamonix, France. This is CLASSIC and very desirable material from a sought-after locality. 1.3 x 1.3 x 1.2 cm
Very gemmy and gorgeous, penetration-twin green fluorite crystals from the famous Heights Mine of England. This beauty has paper-thin, purple phantoms and very lightly frosted and striated crystal faces. One trivial edge bruise is certainly not detracting from this classic, old-timer. Super fluorescence. The backlit photo highlights the gemmyness and purple phantoms. 2.7 x 2.5 x 2.5 cm
When these exciting fluorite specimens came out about 2 years ago, good, large plates were selling in the range of $3,000, and they ALL sold. That is because nothing like this had ever been seen: huge, translucent green octahedral on an earlier generation of purple-gray fluorite. This specimen actually has a THIRD generation of fluorite, highly modified crystals nestled amongst the octahedral (which measure up to 5 cm along the edge!!. If you do not have one of these, this is a TRULY impressive and significant specimen from the find. 19 x 16 x 7 cm
