A fantastic galena with complex, architectural stepped form, a floater with no contacts - with some little cubes of light purple fluorite on it adding to the attraction. 5.6 x 5.2 x 4.8 cm This Photo was Mindat.org Photo of the Day - 28th Jul 2006
A fine example of Arizona fluorite, with six fine intergrown, octahedral purple crystals to 1.5 cm, as well as some greenish crystals near the edge of the matrix. These are NOT easy to come by! From the collection of Marty Zinn. 7.5 x 5.4 x 2.7 cm
This is a LARGE and SIGNIFICANT specimen from a new find in China that has turned out very few specimens thus far. It is a plate richly piled with translucent, rich honey-colored fluorite. The surface and style of crystallization is hard to describe - the pics show it quite well. This is the big brother of a smaller specimen of this material we offered at auction awhile back, handcarried by a friend from china in his luggage. Does not seem to have hit the general retail market as yet, and who knows if it will, or how much there is. For now, we have only been able to get a very few pieces. it is GORGEOUS material! 23.8 x 17.7 x 7.6 cm
Check out this perfect, glowing yellow ball of fluorite on the tip of a stalactite of quartz! This one fluorite is isolated on the stalactitic quartz plate, making it really dramatic. 13.8 x 11.2 x 7.6 cm
MUCH gemmier in person, two intergrown crystals, the larger2.5-cm on edge, both razor-sharp, with very faint blue-grey color, on a pretty matrix of light green muscovite that sets them off beautifully. 6.0 x 5.3 x 5.0cm
These are a really unique form and color for fluorite (tinted by hematite inclusions), similar in form to the yellow Indian fluorite balls that look like eggs. This specimen has five of these fluorite balls, to 0.8 cm, on a matrix of contrasting grey quartz. 6.2 x 5.8 x 2.5 cm
A cluster of wonderfully transparent (much better in person!) light blue fluorites with a hint of purple you can see at the edges of the crystals. The crystals measure to 2.3 cm on edge. 6.4 x 5.2 x 4.4 cm
Until these pink fluorites were discovered in Mexico, Peru and the Alps were the only sources for pink fluorite, and the cost of a specimen such as this was (and still is) astronomical from those localities. The deep pink octahedrons on this LARGE plate measure up to 2.5 cm. 17 x 14 x 2.7 cm
An aesthetic, beautiful and PRISTINE cluster of transparent, lustrous, amber fluorite cubes to 1.5 cm on matrix from the famous Hilton Mine of England. The largest crystals nicely set at the top of the piece really accent this fine specimen with superb purple fluorescence. 7.9 x 6.8 x 4.4 cm
A PERFECT cube of deep purple-blue fluorite from the Elmwood Mine, now closed for good. This crystal is absolutely flawless, and was trimmed out beautifully, with just a bit of accenting matrix attached. I overheard a dealer at the recent Costa Mesa spring show saying he felt Elmwood fluorites are still some of the most underrated minerals around, but this is changing very quickly with the closing of the mine . . .the good pieces just are not around anymore. 4.4 x 4.2 x 3.3 cm
This is a large plate of GLASSY, bright green fluorite crystals. These crystals are just as clear as can be, with gemmy interiors and beautiful frosted bevels on the edges. They measure to 2 cm on edge. An extraordinary specimen, even with the good quantity of fluorites from China available. 14.6 x 13.6 x 5.0 cm
A spectacular, museum-sized specimen covered with DOZENS of sharp, transparent green fluorite crystals! The matrix has a wonderfully sculptural form that serves as a perfect setting for the superb fluorites, which are scattered liberally all over it. They are intermixed with small, creamy calcite crystals, which create a pleasing contrast. 41.1 x 32.0 x 14.0 cm
A large specimen of lustrous, sharp sphalerites with several dozen transparent, light purple fluorites and a sprinkling of light cream-colored calcites. This is an old-timer! It is not pristine, as there is some edge-wear on some of the fluorites, but it is not by any measure "banged-up" looking - the damage is VERY minor in the context of its size. 19.2 x 17.0 x 13.5 cm
Big translucent-to-transparent octahedrons of fluorite (to 3 cm across) decorated with pretty dove-gray, poker-chip calcites. 11.3 x 6.2 x 4.7 cm
A cluster of large (to 4.5 cm) fluorite crystals with stepped corners - in one case, so much so that the crystal is almost in the form of a cross. The crystals have the combination of purple and green tones that are classic for the mine. 8.0 x 7.5 x 3.7 cm
