A superior large miniature-sized specimen of the now exceedingly hard-to-obtain GLASSY fluorites from Illinois. Good Illinois fluorites have obviously become less common on the market and more expensive, but these are just ridiculously hard to find now. This specimen has the CLASSIC golden interior with purple zoning around it, and is just RAZOR-sharp. It shows beautiful stepped growth on the left side of the display face. As well, there is a small strontianite ball on the side for accent. Exceptional! 5.8 x 4 x 3.8 cm
These world-famous, water-clear cubes of fluorite from Dalnegorsk have become hard to get, and it is a shame, because they have to be amongst the most wonderful fluorites from anywhere. This specimen just has such great aesthetics – a really nice size for most collections, a wonderful arrangement of the crystals on the quartz matrix, and, of course, the super clarity that makes these famous. The largest crystal here measures 2cm along the edge. 6.2 x 3.7 x 3.5 cm
VERY glassy, VERY beautiful crystals of fluorite on a bed of micro-muscovite. These gemmy, razor-sharp crystals are teal-colored on the outside, with visible PURPLE phantoms inside of them! The crystals measure to 2cm on edge. 16.5 x 12.5 x 5.3 cm
Scattered all over this BIG chunk of matrix are absolutel GEMS of purple fluorite – sharp and clear as glass! They measure up to around 1cm on edge – not large, but the beauty here is how they are isolated on the matrix, scattered all over, and just SO fine in quality. There is one large cluster at the middle-right which has part of the left edge missing due to contact, but all the other crystals and clusters are pristine. It is a stunning piece, in person, if you like big rocks! This is a really unusual piece for the Yaogangxian, and its large size gives it real visual impact! 29 x 16 x 6 cm
COLOR IS MUCH MORE INTENSE IN PERSON - this is a gorgeous, large, translucent crystal of some size. A fabulous, very large complex modified crystal of green fluorite from Ruyuan, which seems to be mostly or complete finished producing specimens, and did not produce them in decent numbers for long at all. The price of the good ones shot up quickly as the production ceased – and this is a SUPERB and SIGNIFICANT one, for its size, form and general aeshetics. It is complete all the way around, with just a sparing base of quartz setting it off. The fluorite itself measures a whopping 8cm across and is complete all around! 11.5 x 10.5 x 7 cm
A nice example of the silky, tetrahexahedral fluorite crystals with gemmy interiors that the Nikolaevskiy has been producing over the past 2 to 3 years. These crystals are richly piled up on a sparing matrix. 4.2 x 3 x 1.6 cm
An exquisite thumber of “water-clear” Dalnegorsk fluorite, a real jewel perched atop the matrix, with pretty beveled edges. The crysatl is 1cm. 3 x 2 x 1.8 cm
Sadly, VERY few of these pretty specimens from a recent find in China have come out, and one wonders if any more will. I have seen under 2 dozen in total in a year of looking. They are just so unique, with GEMMY, golden cubic crystals of barite on a contrasting cluster of greenish-blue fluorite crystals. 9.5 x 4.5 x 3.6 cm
I have seen just about everything to come out of Russia over the past few years, but I have not seen ANYTHING like this: absolutely GLASS-CLEAR , (light green) OCTAHEDRONS of fluorite! Measuring to around 2 cm, they sit on a bed of sparkly quartz crystals. Nearly all are pristine. THESE CRYSTALS ARE MUCH BRIGHTER AND PRETTIER IN PERSON – they are VERY difficult to photo! They really do glow! You see a lot of the same things from Dalnegorsk, but occasionally you see a specimen that is truly rare and unique like this. I know nothing about this pocket, how many specimens it produced, or whether there are any others out there. But this is the only one I have seen or had, I can say. 9 x 8 x 6 cm
A VERY unusual combo specimen, even with the profusion of specimens from China – this is a lustrous, sharp, 2.2-cm scheelite crystal sitting on a plate of light green (the color didn’t come out) fluorite cubes measuring to 2 cm on edge. A tiny bit of edge wear in one spot on the scheelite that you have to look closely to see – other than that, this specimen is in great shape! Note this is NOT from the common locality of Yaoganxian. these are much more uncommon 10.5 x 7.8 x 3 cm
It is not all that easy to see from the pics, but what you are looking at are modified cubes of GEM-CLEAR fluorite with thick bevels along the edges caused by the octahedral modifications on the cube faces. In a dramatic display of oriented deposition, the crystals are FROSTED on the bevels, and GLASS-CLEAR through the side “windows” – for a really striking effect! Looking through these windows, you see the familiar “water-clear” interiors that makes Dalnegorsk fluorites so famous. The crystals here measure up to a sizeable 3.5 cm across. They are arranged very attractively along a matrix of quartz crystals. I have sene many of these, and few so aesthetic as this one. Usually they are on horrible matrix, truth be told, and not this nicely crystallized matrix. This is a rare and beautiful specimen, and sizable, and with interesting crystals - it really stands out from the crowd 11.5 x 7 x 5 cm
This very large crystal is all about the dramatic ZONING, with the golden-yellow center SHARPLY outlined by an intense purple perimeter. That is natural etching around the edges, not damage! In fact, this specimen is in great condition. These only get more rare and more valuable year after year after year now that the mines are closed . For the dramatic zoning, though, this is a killer , even for the heyday. 7.5 x 7.1 x 4.2 cm
The golden calcite crystals shooting from the top of this specimen are much prettier, in fact GORGEOUS – in person – they are sheaf-like intergrowths of thin, gemmy crystals. These crystals have grown on a base of calcite and fluorite. 9 x 7 x 6.5 cm
A large plate of SUPERB cuboctahedral crystals of purple fluorite, quite uncommon in crystals this transparent from this area, and particularly in such a rich and large specimen. The fine, large crystals (to 4 cm across) are literally piled up on the quartz matrix. The trim job is excellent. This type of crystal from the De’an area is the rarer sort, and many are a very dark purple. Relatively few have this light, transparent beauty. So this is a significant specimen – and would qualify as a major fluorite from ANYWHERE! But, it doesn't cost a fortune like older locales do, these days 16.5 x 13.5 x 6.5 cm
