This is a huge plate of fine, sharp fluorites to 2.5 cm, with DISTINCT purple-edged phantoms inside! The solution in the pocket changed right at the end of the growth of the original generation of crystals, leaving them with dark purple outlines. Later, growth continued, engulfing these purple-outlined crystals with more of the teal-colored fluorite. Some of the phantom crystals were coated with a bit of quartz druse, making them stand out even more distinctly. A few quartz points stick up amidst the fluorites. There are a few dings, but overall the specimen is in good shape. 17 x 17 x 8.5 cm
A wonderfully aesthetic Dalnegorsk fluorite specimen, with a pristine, glassy, razor-sharp crystal of 1.5 cm set amongst quartz and sphalerite. These older-style sharp cubes are getting harder and harder to come by. 5.5 x 4.5 x 3 cm
A fine, sharp, very gemmy, interpenetrant twin on a cube-diagonal twinning axis (as often seen from this locality). This form is what makes these specimens so desirable from the English lead mines at Weardale. 1.6 x 1.2 x 1.1cm
From the very exciting finds early last year in China of superbly sharp octahedrons of fluorite on starkly contrasting white quartz matrix - this is a LARGE and impressive plate! One crystal here measures 4.5 cm top to bottom! The crystals combine green and purple tones. 16.2 x 12.1 x 6.9cm
A truly sensational pink fluorite thumber from Switzerland - about as gemmy as a fluorite can get, and that is saying a LOT when it comes to a rare PINK Swiss fluorite! The pics do not do it justice: the crystal is glass-clear, truly GEMMY! NOTE THE SMALL SIZE...but it is of high quality 1.8 x 1.5 x 1.2cm
From a NEW FIND in China - this is a 2-cm-thick crust of CLEAR yellow fluorite, with lustrous, euhedral faces on the surface - which you can look through to see the interior gemminess! Still waiting to see if more comes out. This is the only piece we have obtained, for the moment... 11.6 x 7.7 x 5.7cm
A HIGHLY UNCOMMON and STRIKING combination piece from the famous Sweet Home Mine. Bright green malachite coats well-crystallized, lustrous tetrahedrite crystals to 8 mm. Beautifully contrasting transparent to frosted purple fluorite cubes to 4 mm add to the panache of this piece. There is also a few tiny rhodochrosite crystals and quartz needles. There were only about 2 DOZEN pieces from this pocket and I managed to get almost all of the very best ones. Malachite had never been found from the mine before this, and it had to be analysed to prove its reality. My last piece (i think), found surfing the drawers recently. These were found around 3 years ago. 5.9 x 4.8 x 3.0 cm
A SPECTACULAR, pristine, Indian CABINET specimen of translucent, botyroidal, yellow fluorite on a 7.4 cm, lustrous, calcite crystal. The calcite crystal is translucent and frosted, colorless, and contrasts nicely. It rests in a cradle and on an undulatory bed of quartz crystals on a bit of basalt matrix. This is a VERY RARE combination from the find a few years ago at the Mahodari Quarrry near Nasik. 11.8 x 9.0 x 5.2 cm
A very showy, old-time, classic German specimen of lustrous, gemmy, green fluorite dodecahedrons preferentially coated and sparingly covered with platy, rust-brown siderite. This fine old piece, with an antique German label, hails from Rittersgrun, Erzgebirge, Saxony. ex Kevin Brown Collection 7.9 x 6.8 x 4.2 cm
A BIG plate of fine Okarusu fluorite - for someone who likes big cabinet pieces (there is a smaller one also in this auction.) This large plate is covered with lustrous, transparent crystals to 1.3 cm across! 13.4 x 13.4 x 4.1cm
A EXCELLENT fluorite thumbnail of near-transparent, lustrous stacked octohedrons of the VERY BEST rose-pink color from the Argentiere Glacier at Chamonix, France. This is CLASSIC and very desirable material from a sought-after locality. A trivial wilbur on the termination certainly does not detract from this beautiful piece. 1.7 x 1.5 x 1.3 cm
With the mine now closed for good, Elmwood specimens have dried up on the market. This specimen features a multitude of light purple cubes to just over 1 cm, on a matrix of sparkly sphalerite (the zinc ore that was the reason for the Elmwood Mine in the first place). The specimen is in very good shape, with only a couple of very minor and hard-to-see dings. From the noted collection of Paul Jung, dispersed last year in Denver. 11 x 7 x 4.5 cm
An OLD-TIME, CLASSIC, excellent and very showy specimen of botryoidal, yellow, smithsonite on lustrous, translucent, purple fluorite from the famous Sheshodonnell East Mine, Carron, The Burren, County Clare, Ireland. A bit of periphery damage to the fluorite on one end is certainly not detracting. This fine 100 plus year old piece was in the collection of the well-known dealer/collector Al McGuinness. i have only once before seen a combo piece like this for sale. very old materia, and hard to come by! 5.1 x 4.3 x 2.5 cm
A CLASSIC, OLD-TIMER from the Pink Quarry, Shap, Cumbria, England of glassy, translucent, green fluorite crystals with rich, purple overtones and three, transparent and lustrous, quartz quartz crystals.to 1.8 cm. Seldom available in this style and quality. The minor damage is barely noticeable on this fine, old piece with many display possibilities. 4.6 x 3.8 x 2.9 cm
Large, translucent green, sharp octahedrons of fluorite (to 4 cm!), with dove-gray poker-chip calcites on them, on an earlier generation contrasting purple-gray fluorite. 11.6 x 10.0 x 5.2cm
