Just look at the amazing gemminess and gorgeous stepped growth of this large fluorite specimen! The beautifully architectural stepped faces are lustrous as glass. The fluorite has a pretty pastel blue color, with accents of purple glowing from deep inside. Contacts are limited to the periphery. WOW! 10.9 x 9.1 x 5.6cm

This specimen was expensive even directly from the Chinese, and you can see why (I''ll be frank - I paid 100 bucks for it wholesale even after the discount as part of a large lot). It is just so stark and dramatic, and different from most The three fluorites (one of them a compound crystal) are beautifully isolated on the matrix, which was carefully sawn and trimmed so that it looks almost like a platter made to serve these beautiful crystals! The crystals are intensely gemmy, and sharp and lustrous as well. What a striking piece! 8.9 x 3.9 x 2.9cm

This thick slice through an Illinois fluorite is the best way to show the incredible zoning of the crystal. There are over a dozen color layers, that formed as the pocket solution changed while the crystal was growing. Polished on one side. 7.9 x 5.3 x 0.9cm

A specimen from the exciting find of last year featuring translucent green octahedrons of fluorite on an earlier generation of contrasting purple-gray fluorite. This one has accenting dove-gray poker-chip calcites on it as well. Fluorite crystals to 2.5 cm. No more of these coming out! 7.0 x 5.6 x 4.4cm

Fluorite from Okorusu Mine (Okarusu Mine), Otjiwarongo District, Otjozondjupa Region, Namibia [db_pics/mdpics/MD-41325a.jpg]

This is a VERY rare specimen, and a very large one at that, of light creamy-yellow fluorite from the Okarusu, probably from one particular pocket. The crystals are quite fine and large, translucent to transparent and measuring up to 3 cm on edge. They have actually grown on an underlying layer of PURPLE fluorite, and you can see highlights of this purple fluorite through the crystals. Almost all the fluorite from the Okarusu is in tones of purple, green and teal, but lately there trickled through a few specimens of yellow, and now this color (the only specimen I have seen like this). 15.2 x 9.9 x 5.5cm

A superb specimen of the famous "water-clear" fluorite from Dalnegorsk, featuring four intergrown cuboctahedral crystals with many glassy-clear "windows" into the interiors of the crystals that do not show up in the photo. The crystals are beautifully centered on a carefully trimmed matrix. 4.3 x 3.6 x 3.4cm

Until these pink fluorites were discovered in Mexico, Peru and the Alps were the only sources for pink fluorite, and the cost of specimens were (and still are) astronomical from those localities. You just plain would not see one of this size, ever. And, this one is not only huge, but the crystals on this specimen have the wonderful clarity of an Alpine piece as well. (NOTE: crystals are LIGHTER in person, a gentle pastel pink.) These octahedrons measure up to 2 cm on edge. 19.3 x 16.0 x 9.6cm

Purple octahedrons are well-known from Grant County, but this Catron County fluorite is definitely not purple but PINK, the "prize" color for fluorite. In fact, it would be easy to mistake it for an Alpine thumber 2.6 x 1.4 x 1.4cm

The crystals on this piece have wonderful deep pink color and fine transparency. There is even a bit of contrasting matrix showing, which is unusual. 7.5 x 5.2 x 1.7cm

This is a WHOPPER plate of the fluorite crystals that were THE big find of last year! The crystals here have the best color tones for the find, a mixture of purple and green tones. They measure up to 2.5 cm across the edge. Damage is limited mostly to the periphery of the specimen. If you remember, plates of this size and quality sold for BIG bucks when this material was coming out! 23.1 x 17.1 x 5.7cm

This fascinating specimen was formed when transparent fluorite completely covered a crystal of silvery stibnite, which you can see clearly in the center of the fluorite.. FROM A ONETIME FIND OF THE LATE 1980S, THESE RARELY TURN UP ON THE MARKET TODAY! BEAUTIFUL EXAMPLE OF A VERY RARE FLUORITE STYLE.... 4.5 x 0.5 x 0.4cm
