A rare PURPLE fluorite crystal from Dalnegorsk! It is not exactly a world-class crystal, or big even, but it IS a curiosity. Crystal measures 0.8 cm. I have not seen a purple from here. This one, assuredly, is! 4.7 x 4.2 x 3.4 cm
These cuboctahedral fluorites from the Dean Mine were the rarer of the two forms that caused such a stir a couple of years back when they came out. This one is a very deep purple, half-embedded in the quartz matrix. The crystal measures 2 cm. 8.8 x 6.4 x 4.3 cm
A fine miniature of the beautiful new form of clear fluorites coming out of Dalnegorsk, of a cuboctahedral form, with a silky surface. The 2.3-cm crystal here is accented by a row of smaller crystals. 5.8 x 3.8 x 2.7 cm
A LARGE specimen that is quite dramatic, with isolated compound crystals of purple and blue phantom fluorite! Some are interpenetration-twinned! The larger fluorites are 2 cm on edge. The size of this piece and the isolation of the crystal clusters makes it truly striking! 14.2 x 10.4 x 6.6 cm
A DRAMATIC and SUPERB LARGE CABINET specimen of 7 RARE, GREEN, translucent fluorite hemispheres to 1.8 cm with calcite crystals on quartz over basalt matrix from the UNIQUE find a few years ago at the Mahodari Quarry in India. Green fluorite is the least common color varietal from this find. Yellow and red are much more common. 16.5 x 10.5 x 6.8 cm
A EXCELLENT and SHOWY specimen from the BRAND NEW find in the Erongo Mountains of Namibia. We were lucky enough to get the whole lot. An etched, off-white feldspar crystal is pleasingly dotted with gemmy, green fluorite cubes with purple corners. Tiny schorl crystals dust the fluorite cubes and the feldspar crystal. 6.2 x 3.4 x 2.7 cm
A later generation of growth has wrapped itself PARTIALLY around an original fluorite crystal, creating a sort of "half-phantom" - fascinating, and the purple fluorite of the later generation is quite transparent and lustrous. 4.7 x 3.5 x 3.3 cm
A slice has been cut from a large Illinois fluorite crystal, then polished on both sides, to show the incredible zoning inside the crystal, tracking its growth like rings on a tree! Note the band of light teal blue that formed as the solution changed inside the pocket while the crystal was growing. 8.6 x 7 x 1.2 cm
A dramatic small cabinet specimen of glassy green fluorites with transparent crystals to just under 3 cm stacked on a thin shard of matrix. Another thin sheet of matrix runs right through the center of the crystals! Transparent! BETTER IN PERSON! 8 x 6 x 4 cm
This wonderful fluorite find was so small that it was virtually overlooked, and I have bought up every good specimen I could find. The fluorites were found in an extremely inhospitable area of the Sahara desert, alternately very cold and very hot, and the clusters are spread out and isolated in crevices rather than in pockets where you can take out a number of specimens at a time. So the mining was extremely painstaking, and the miners have given up, probably for good. The crystals have a unique silky luster and intense purple color. If you buy one of these, you will be one of the few who has one in their case. And it is not just rare, it is doggoned BEAUTIFUL! Last week, we had a fine miniature. This , on the other hand, is the largest specimen I have seen from the find. The crystals have a very different, rounded look to them, perhaps from natural etching in the pocket. Minimal damage, overall in fine shape. 11.1 x 9.2 x 6.7 cm
We have offered fluorites from the Okarusu in the auction, but this is truly rare for the locality: a large plate of YELLOW and LIGHT PURPLE crystals! I believe these yellow pieces came out of just one pocket earlier this year. This one is distinguished not just by having the yellow crystals, but also light purple ones at the center. This is a far cry from the usual green/dark purple/teal blue fluorites that are classic for the Okarusu. There are a couple of dings, but not much damage to speak of for a piece this size. It is really quite spectacular and different! 16.3 x 11.4 x 4.2 cm
Another FINE plate of pink fluorite from Mina Navidad. Until these pink fluorites were discovered in Mexico, Peru and the Alps were the only sources for pink fluorite, and the cost of a specimen such as this was (and still is) astronomical from those localities. The octahedron on this LARGE plate measure up to 2.5 cm from corner to corner. The color is a very intense deep pink. 11.7 x 10.9 x 5.3 cm
A WATER-clear fluorite crystal, measuring 1.8 cm, perfectly centered and isolated on the matrix. It has natural bevels on the corners. This pretty specimen was mined this year at the Nikolaevsky. Prettier and more CLEAR in person - hard to photograph because of that. so, its better than it appears.... 4.3 x 4.3 x 3.4 cm
An EXCELLENT, undamaged cluster of glassy, purple fluorite cubes to 2.0 cm with sharp phantoms from the famous Denton Mine of Southern Illinois. Choice material from the Lewadny Collection. 6.0 x 5.0 x 5.0 cm
A STRIKING CABINET specimen of a 6.5 x 5.5 cm, translucent, pink and green, complex, octohedral fluorite crystal perched on lustrous muscovite blades and interspersed with smaller fluorite crystals and albite crystals from Chumar Bakhoor, Pakistan. The large fluorite crystal is complete all-around and is amazingly undamaged. Bi-colored fluorite from Pakistan is not that common and seldom appears in crystals this large. 11.0 x 8.0 x 7.8 cm
