This is a really special specimen from the finds of pink fluorite in Mexico. For one thing, it is an unusual (small) size - it is rare to find really good specimens in this size range. Most of the smaller ones are solid crystals (like the larger ones), and do NOT have isolated crystals as this one does, with matrix showing which adds a lot to the beauty. The larger crystal here is 1.5 cm across. 5.2 x 4.4 x 2.3 cm
A DROP-DEAD GORGEOUS toenail of lustrous, purple fluorite cubes encircling a doubly terminated quartz crystal from the famous Yaogangxian Mine of China. The tiny quartz needles add character to this beauty. The attachment is on the back of one of the fluorite crystals, which is barely noticeable. 3.1 x 2.3 x 1.2 cm
A showy specimen of a gemmy, color-zoned, yellow-green fluorite cube preferentially encrusted with lustrous, light amber calcite crystal from the Cave in Rock District of Illinois. The chalcopyrite crystals embedded in and on the fluorite crystal add character. Very minor periphery damage. Ex Marty Lewadny Collection of Winnipeg, Canada. 7.8 x 6.1 x 4.6 cm
A SUPERB FINE Dalnegorsk fluorite, from 2004 mining, featuring the characteristic clear crystals with silky, pebbly surface, measuring to about 4 cm (huge!). The back side of the big crystal is contacted, but it does not affect the display face at all. There is just a sparing amount of matrix which is just right to set off the crystals nicely. This stunning fluorite was priced at $600 in the gallery. It is just REALLY hard to find them this good. so if you do not have one of this style (say, if you have one of the clear cubes but not one of these), this is a great opportunity to get a stunning one! 6.8 x 4.3 x 3.9 cm
This specimen represents the absolute TOP you can get in quality for these exciting new pink fluorites, and it is a LARGE plate to boot! Occasionally, such as with this specimen, you get the clarity of a good Alpine piece, with an even finer deep pink color than they have! These fine octahedrons measure up to 1.5 cm across. What is more, the contrasting matrix appears here and there to add a nice accent. Until these pink fluorites were discovered in Mexico, Peru and the Alps were the only sources for pink fluorite, and the cost of a specimen such as this was (and still is) astronomical from those localities. In fact, one this size and quality is just unobtainable. Better in person - among the best we have ever had for crystal clarity and color. 12.2 x 10.6 x 3.4 cm
This combo piece features a HUGE crystal of purple and blue fluorite anchored to a sparing matrix, with a complementing carpet of ferberite crystals wrapped around one side. The 11-cm crystal is complete except for a cleave on one side that actually appears to be a face, until you inspect it very closely and it seems to have a slighly different surface from the natural faces. A well-balanced, aesthetic and very dramatic large specimen. 18.2 x 13.8 x 8.5 cm
This LARGE specimen of Okarusu fluorite is really special: it is from a small pocket of YELLOW crystals, and the crystals on this specimen show delicate blushes of purple inside the yellow! The crystals measure to 2.3 centimeters. There are a few dings, but overall the specimen is in good shape. Of course, Okarusu fluorites are typically shades of purple, green and teal-blue. We also found a really PURPLE fluorite, almost like Illinois, very weird for Okarusu, lately, and will be auctioning it later. 16.7 x 8.5 x 11.9 cm
UNUSUALLY transparent crystals on this lazrge Okarusu piece! You can see right through them to the matrix and little embedded crystals of quartz. The crystals measure up to about 1.3 cm across. 10.8 x 8.2 x 6.8 cm
We have been buying all the really good Elmwood material we can get our hands on, with it disappearing so quickly from the market. This superb mini features three silky, transparent, intergrown crystals of purple fluorite, on a carefully-trimmed base of crystallized sphalerite. The crystals measure to 1.5 cm on edge, and are complete and undamaged. 4.5 x 2.9 x 2.6 cm
An adorable mini of purple fluorite perched on matrix; the fluorite measures 2 cm across, and actually is a very complex and interesting compound crystal. 3.6 x 2.6 x 1.9 cm
A cluster of deep purple fluorite crystals, to 2.5 cm across the edge. There are a couple of tiny corner dings and the merest bit of edge wear in one place, but as you can see from the pics, they are not enough to really detract. 7 x 6.3 x 3.4 cm
A pristine, yellow-green, translucent hemisphere of fluorite on quartz from Mahodari, India. These came our a few years ago and are pretty much UNIQUE in the world. The backlit photos highlight the translucency of the fluorite. 3.0 x 2.5 x 1.7 cm
A showy, stair-stepped, two-sided specimen with two generations of translucent, cubic fluorite from the famed Southern Illinois Fluorite District. The core of the specimen consists of small, purple cubes, while the larger, outer cubes, are a bluer-purple and are nicely zoned. The few edge bruises are barely noticeable. Choice material from the Lewadny Collection. 7.0 x 6.5 x 5.5 cm
Teal-blue, gemmy crystals to over 3 cm across, with very distinct purple phantoms inside! Contact on the back and sides only - a superb display face. 7.6 x 5.5 x 3.5 cm
An elegant specimen of gemmy quartz crystals with light olive, bladed muscovite crystals and one lone crystal of light purple fluorite. 8.1 x 5.2 x 4.7 cm
