In addition to being sizeable, this is one of the hard-to-get pink fluorite plates with an isolated cluster that has a rim of contrasting matrix around it, adding to the attractiveness. Until these pink fluorites were discovered in Mexico, Peru and the Alps were the only sources for pink fluorite, and the cost of a specimen such as this was (and still is) astronomical from those localities. The crystals on this specimen measure around 1.5 cm. 11.7 x 8.6 x 5.4 cm
In this same auction is a classic Okarusu piece, but it is likely you have not seen one of these YELLOW ones before! They are extremely uncommon, and there is no way to determine whether this specimen and the very few like it we saw were from a single pocket, or if more may be on the way. At any rate, it is a beautiful golden-yellow color, with a wonderful glowing translucence. The crystals measure to about 1.8 cm. There is some damage at the very bottom as the piece is displayed in the pics, but it does not really detract. This specimen has really good size, too! VERY RARE 13 x 7.4 x 3.8 cm
A large specimen covered with fluorite crystals that range from colorless to pastel purple - to 1.3 cm on edge. 11.9 x 7.4 x 7.9 cm
This is a polished slice through a large Illinois fluorite showing the incredible zoning lines that formed as the crystal changed colors in accordance with the changing solution in the pocket. The natural stepped growth along the edge adds extra pizzazz. You can even see some tiny pyrite crystals inside the fluorite! These show some of the most remarkable zoning in the fluorite world, and it is shown off best in these cross sections. 8.7 x 5.9 x 1 cm
A DRAMATIC CABINET specimen of a glassy, 4.2 cm, light green fluorite cube aesthetically perched on the top of matrix with a nice cluster of smaller cubes below it. One dinged corner and one bit of edgewear are barely noticeable. EXCELLENT purple fluorescence! Choice material from the Lewadny Collection. 10.4 x 6.5 x 6.5 cm
A showy and excellent plate of lustrous, color-zoned purple fluorite crystals to 2.9 cm with partially yellow cores and a bit of matrix from the famous Minerva #1 Mine of Illinois. The large modified cube on the left is uncommon for Illinois material. Choice material from the Lewadny Collection. 8.2 x 7.5 x 3.8 cm
A cluster of glassy crystals, wonderful light green, anchored by a crystal of just under 3 cm. Transparent! BETTER IN PERSON! 4.6 x 4.4 x 3.1 cm
Until these pink fluorites were discovered in Mexico, Peru and the Alps were the only sources for pink fluorite, and the cost of a specimen such as this was (and still is) astronomical from those localities. These octahedrons measure up to 2.5 cm, and show nice deep pink color. 14.7 x 12.1 x 4.9 cm
Better in person - this is a 3.5-cm compound crystal of transparent light teal-blue fluorite with purple accents, intergrown with a cluster of sharp, brassy arsenopyrite crystals. Except for one little corner ding, contact is limited to the back of the specimen. 6.7 x 4.9 x 3.6 cm
A BIG specimen of purple fluorite that has enveloped a sheet of celestine. The fluorite is prettier in person, nicely transparent, and wraps around the sides and back. Extra shipping may apply due to size and weight. 12.2 x 9.9 x 8.8 cm
A light blue fluorite crystal with blushes of purple , with two gemmy quartz crystals, and associated clusters of greenish translucent muscovite. Pretty combo piece! 5.9 x 4 x 3.8 cm
A GORGEOUS specimen from the BRAND NEW find in the Erongo Mountains of Namibia. We were lucky enough to get the whole lot (well, at least the whole lot mined in early July). A nest of beautifully gemmy, emerald-green fluorite cubes to 1.0 cm sit on very nicely contrasting snow-white, albite matrix. I will have an update of these later. For now, this is the only good one going into the auctions. 4.4 x 4.0 x 3.8 cm
An aesthetic and gorgeous specimen of a transparent, 1.2 cm, purple fluorite cube sitting in the middle of an transparent to translucent, colorless, arrowhead-shaped celestine crystal. The lower, left side of the celestine is contacted, but this is a VERY SHOWY piece. Excellent material from the Lewadny Collection. 7.8 x 4.6 x 1.8 cm
As you can see, these fluorite crystals are an UNUSUALLY transparent and pretty green for the Okarusu! They measure to but it is these two big ones that are the centerpiece at any rate. 8.4 x 6.6 x 4.3 cm
A large, dramatic specimen featuring a cluster of gemmy fluorites to 2.3 cm on edge, perched on a matrix of olive-colored muscovite balls. The cluster of fluorites has two small contacts and one corner cleave. But these are fairly minor detractions. The specimen has a fine display face. 12.1 x 6.9 x 5.6 cm
