A SUPERB cluster of pristine, translucent, lightly etched and beautifully pink complex fluorite cube-octohedrons with a bit of muscovite from Nagar, Pakistan. The beautiful pink color is not enhanced in any way. Front and back views are given of this outstanding pegmatite fluorite. 6.3 x 5.3 x 4.0 cm
8.9 x 8.8 x 8.2 cm. An incredibly limpid, very glassy, 3.0 x 3.0 x 2.7 cm, fluorite cube with amazing color zoning in the interior, box-work phantom. The partial box-work phantom holds a beautiful "garden" of matrix. The cube is pristine and is the definite highlight of this gorgeous cluster of ice-like, water-clear, light green fluorite cubes from recent finds at the Yaogangxian Mine of Hunan Province.
5.9 x 2.5 x 2.4 cm. Certainly, one of the more unusual and desirable fluorite varietals from the Elmwood Mine - the etched fluorite corner. This one is-complete all-around and pristine and has two colors. The etch patterns and the purple with light amber interior make for a showy piece. One face is water-clear and you can look right into the interior. This piece goes back to the 1970s or 1880s, and comes from the Jaime Bird Collection.
3.8 x 1.8 x 1.2 cm. Three translucent, purplish-blue, stepped-growth face fluorite octahedrons are nicely set on a plate off glassy quartz crystals on this fine miniature from one of the famous mines at Dal’negorsk, Russia. The fluorites are moderately lustrous. This is an unusual, older fluorite varietal from this renowned locale. Ex. Dr. Eric Asselborn Collection, who obtained this piece in the early 1990s, when Dal’negorsk material first started coming to the market. Rare habit for locale.
6.5 x 6.2 x 3.8 cm. A fine cluster of intergrown, translucent fluorite cubes from the Blanchard Mine of New Mexico. This fine specimen features classic, "Blanchard blue" cubes, purple and blue cubes and colorless to yellow cubes with purple edges. The blue cubes crowning the piece have nice purple edges and the largest cube is 1.8 cm. Contemporary classic material.
9.0 x 7.1 x 2.5 cm. A fine plate richly covered with very glassy, transparent, golden-yellow fluorite cubes to 1.0 cm from recent finds at the Moscona Mine, Spain.
25.5 x 14.5 x 6.8 cm. This Chinese fluorite find has to be one of the most exciting of the past five years - large plates of razor-sharp octahedrons with unique purple and green tones, in contrasting stark white quartz. The mining has stopped now - any specimens you see are from existing stock. The crystals on this dramatic large cabinet plate measure to 3.0 cm.
6.7 x 4.5 x 3.5 cm. The green Erongo Fluorites have become famous in their own right, but to find them in such superb combination with the rare and desirable clear Goshenite Beryls, is a thing to behold. The Beryls range up to 2.2 cm, and the Fluorites about .8 cm, so the Goshenites rule are the main feature here. The luster on the Fluorites is silky, and they have the zoned coloration usually seen from Erongo. The Beryls have superb luster and are gemmy, with the classic tan-colored inclusions. Ex. Charlie Key.
A gorgeous cluster of beautifully translucent, sharp, fluorite octohedrons from the recent find at the De An Mine in China that was such a hit at Tucson this year. They are purple-cored with green interiors. The crystal faces have a matte finish. One corner of the large octohedron is chipped, but does not diminish the aesthetics of this fine piece. 4.3 x 3.3 x 2.7 cm
13.5 x 11.9 x 7 cm. A fine golden-yellow botryoidal Fluorite, an amazing 5 cm across, nestled in a bed of sharp Quartz crystals. The translucent Fluorite has the normal matte finish, and both the color and size are very impressive. The Quartz crystals are also impressive - many are at least 2 cm across. A classic for this locality, one of the few where fluorite of this habit occurs in nature for some reason. Ex. Charlie Key.
6.5 x 5.4 x 3.5 cm. A fine example of the gemmy, water-clear Green fluorites that came out of the Xianghuapu (Maiwan) Mine earlier this century. This group of three intergrown crystals has all the hallmarks of this find: good green color, superb luster, completely gemmy, and fabulous, beveled edges so reminiscent of the great Berbes Fluorites. Ex. Charlie Key.
A large plate of fluorite showing the intense teal blue from finds earlier this year, the best color ever from there. The crystals measure to about one centimeter, following the undulating matrix. There are a few dinged/cleaved crystals, but not enough to take away much from this large, pretty specimen. 15.1 x 10.0 x 7.0 cm
Gorgeous fluorites featuring large, zoned purple and green octahedra with a later generation of bright green octahedra. The larger purple/green octahedra in the earlier generation measure up to 5 cm tip to tip, and the bright green ones to about 2.5 cm. Some of the bright green ones even have nailhead calcites on their surface, a third generation of crystal growth in the pocket. 15.0 x 11.4 x 7.2 cm
A BIG plate of GEMMY purple fluorites, with GORGEOUS modifications that include bevels, flat terminations and triangular growth patterns on the faces. Individual crystals measure to over 3 cm. This is the least-damaged specimen we saw from this find: a couple of cleaved/broken crystals, and the rest is limited to the periphery. 15.4 x 10.9 x 7.7 cm
A beautiful thumbnail, not common from this locality, with two one-centimeter gemmy crystals perched right on top of the matrix. The only detraction is a cleean cleave on the front corner of one of the crystals, but nevertheless, this is a very pretty piece. 3.1 x 2.8 x 2.5 cm
