JWHITE-35 - Garnierite - $ 50 SOLD Riddle Mine, Riddle, Riddle District, Douglas Co., Oregon, USA miniature, 4.1 x 2.4 x 2.3 cm ex. John White
This is a heavy rich specimen of garnierite. Apparently under modern reclassification this is no longer a species (news to me!). It is considered a mix of green nickel minerals formed from weathering and may consist of williamseite, nepouite, and pimelite.

4.3 x 3.0 x 0.3 cm. Falcondoite and willemseite are rare nickel, magnesium silicates found in a serpentinized harzbergite massif or an obducted ophiolite at a plate collision of oceanic crust with continental crust. The locality is in the Dominican Republic, which is the Type Locality for falcondoite. This very showy, bright green thin crust is mostly green falcondoite, with just a bit of lighter, olive willemseite.

7.8 x 5.4 x 4.5 cm. Garnierite is the name for a green nickel ore which is found in pockets and fissures of weathered ultramafic rocks (serpentinite, dunite, peridotite). It forms by lateritic weathering of ultramafic rocks; it consists of the magnesium-rich phyllosilicates serpentine, talc, chlorite and smectite in which a high percentage of magnesium is substituted by nickel. This is an old-time specimen from mining in North Carolina.

Falcondoite and willemseite are very rare nickel, magnesium silicates found in strange ultramafics - read a serpentinized harzbergite massif or an obducted ophiolite at a plate collision of oceanic crust with continental crust. The locality is in the Dominican Republic, which is the Type Locality for falcondoite. This fine, bright green thin crust is mostly scalloped, green falcondoite, with just a bit of blocky, darker, olive willemseite on the right edge, center. Very rarely available.
