DENV08-26 - Euclase - $ 7500 SOLD Gachala, Boyaca Department, Colombia thumbnail, 2.1 x 1.3 x 0.7 cm ex. Marc Weill
An absolutely flawless, perfect, gem euclase crystal of high quality. It has glassy lustre and is more intensely transparent and bright, in person. This mine sets the standard for euclase and the recent finds here (from about 2004 til recently) have provided many more specimens than in the past it is true - but few of this calibre. This crystal is perfect, and complete, front back and sides. The minor associated specks are pyrite. ex. Marc Weill Collection, from a find in 2005
MD-117879 - Euclase - - Archived Minas Gerais, Southeast Region, Brazil thumbnail, 2.5 x 1.4 x 0.6 cm.
2.5 x 1.4 x 0.6 cm. Though it does not show blue color, this IS a gemmy and terminated crystal of the rare mineral euclase. One tiny contact on the edge of the termination, and contact along one lower side.
MD-118641 - Euclase - - Archived Lost Hope Mine, Mwami, Karoi (Urungwe; Hurungwe) District, Mashonaland West, Zimbabwe thumbnail, 2.1 x 2 x .6 cm.
2.1 x 2 x .6 cm. There is something to be said for the vibrant blue color of Euclase - very simply, it’s gorgeous. This rich plate of gemmy .2 cm crystals just draws the eye in, it is so pretty. In this case, the pics do say it all. This locality has produced the bluest in the world.
MD-118798 - Euclase - - Archived Minas Gerais, Southeast Region, Brazil small cabinet, 7.0 x 1.7 x 1.7 cm.
7.0 x 1.7 x 1.7 cm. Euclase crystals are of course very hard to obtain. The really blue and gemmy ones are incredibly rare and expensive. The colorless ones are more common, but still, in this quality and size, are quite uncommon! It has a terrific luster and internal shimmer to it. It is crudely trigonal in form looking down the c axis, with the back side cleaved and the other two sides of the triangle showing lustrous and vertical faces.
MD-182997 - Euclase - - Archived St Anne's Mine (St Anne Mine; St Anns Mine), Mwami, Karoi (Urungwe; Hurungwe) District, Mashonaland West, Zimbabwe thumbnail, 2.6 x 1.5 x 1.1 cm.
2.6 x 1.5 x 1.1 cm. A relatively large, sharp and beautiful, vivid blue euclase crystal from Zimbabwe. This gemmy and lustrous crystal is complete-all-around. Most large euclases from this locality are contacted on the back. Specimens of this quality and color came out in the mid to late 1970s.

MD-209940 - Euclase - - Archived St Anne's Mine (St Anne Mine; St Anns Mine), Mwami, Karoi (Urungwe; Hurungwe) District, Mashonaland West, Zimbabwe thumbnail, 2.2 x 1.3 x 1.1 cm.
2.2 x 1.3 x 1.1 cm. A sharp, striated, gemmy and lustrous, two-toned blue euclase crystal from the St. Anne Mine of Zimbabwe. The two blue colors are vivid. This is the classic locality that has produced by far and away the world’s most intense blue crystals of the species. Specimens of this quality and color variety came out in the 1970s, with very little found as a trickle since (and those mostly of the same habit but a much paler, although attractive, pastel blue color with deep blue highlights only). Ex. Irv Brown Collection.

MD-21998 - Euclase - - Archived Lost Hope Mine, Mwami, Karoi (Urungwe; Hurungwe) District, Mashonaland West, Zimbabwe thumbnail, 3.0 x 1.6 x 1.6 cm
A highly lustrous, sharp and gemmy euclase crystal with vivid shades of blue from the late 1980’s finds. These are immensely desirable for the color, and extremely rare to own, in crystals of this size. Now, more have been found in recent re-working at th emine but they are either smaller in general if of this form, or larger but of a blockier habit. Al went for display aesthetics first and foremost and from the front, this one is a stunner with teh richest blue color I have ever seen in a euclase from here. It does have some contacts on the lower half, but no damage per se. 3.0 x 1.6 x 1.6 cm
MD-226218 - Euclase - - Archived St Anne's Mine (St Anne Mine; St Anns Mine), Mwami, Karoi (Urungwe; Hurungwe) District, Mashonaland West, Zimbabwe thumbnail, 2.2 x 2.1 x 1.4 cm.
2.2 x 2.1 x 1.4 cm. Vivid, rich blue euclase of this hue comes, rather came, only from small workings in this topaz mine, in intermittent spurts from the 1960s on. A recent find came out actually just a few years ago, some of large crystals, but few with this rich classic color. This is an old specimen. It is a superb thumbnail with an unusually sharp termination and a very intense blue color. Ex. Marilyn Dodge Collection.
MD-234882 - Euclase - - Archived Lost Hope Mine, Mwami, Karoi (Urungwe; Hurungwe) District, Mashonaland West, Zimbabwe thumbnail, 3.0 x 2.5 x 2.5 cm.
3.0 x 2.5 x 2.5 cm. A relatively sharp, striated, gemmy and lustrous, vivid blue euclase crystal from Zimbabwe - this is the classic locality that has produced the world’s most intense blue crystals of the species. This euhedral, highly lustrous and partially gemmy crystal has only one edge and one point of contact. Specimens of this quality and color variety came out in the 1970s, with very little found as a trickle since (and those mostly of the same habit but a much paler, although attractive, pastel blue color with deep blue highlights only).
MD-251490 - Euclase - - Archived Ouro Preto, Minas Gerais, Southeast Region, Brazil miniature, 4.7 x 2.3 x 1.5 cm.
4.7 x 2.3 x 1.5 cm. A superb, single, doubly-terminated clear and gemmy Euclase from the type locality. This crystal is almost perfectly gemmy all the way through, has excellent luster, and one very sharp termination. The bottom is actually also terminated, just not quite as sharply. This is a 4.7 cm doubly-terminated euclase. Ex. Charlie Key Collection.
MD-261716 - Euclase - - Archived Lost Hope Mine, Mwami, Karoi (Urungwe; Hurungwe) District, Mashonaland West, Zimbabwe miniature, 3.7 x 2.6 x 2.4 cm.
3.7 x 2.6 x 2.4 cm. This rich euclase specimen is composed of crystals and crystal sections and is highlighted by a sharp, 1.6 cm crystal. This striking specimen is divided exactly in half. Half of the crystal is vibrant blues and half is totally colorless. Fascinating. These are immensely desirable for the color, and hard to own, in crystals of this size. Now, more have been found in recent re-working at the mine, but they are either smaller in general if of this form, or larger but of a blockier habit. Ex. Wes Parker Collection.
MD-271345 - Euclase - - Archived Lost Hope Mine, Mwami, Karoi (Urungwe; Hurungwe) District, Mashonaland West, Zimbabwe miniature, 4.2 x 3.3 x 1.8 cm.
4.2 x 3.3 x 1.8 cm. Euclase from this important old locality came out mostly in the 1960s, and still sets the standard for coloration in the species. Although Colombia has since produced some more important and larger crystals of higher gem value, that are truly word-class as well, the euclase from this small and defunct mine is so much more intense in color saturation that they may as well be two separate species as far as comparisons go. This gorgeous specimen has consistent color, superb lustre, and a good aesthetic. Most euclase from this mine is more blocky and compacted, if in clusters at all (though usually only singles survive and are around for sale). The specimen here has not only good aesthetics in the way the major crystals present, but it has good edges or horizons, without the usual contacts at the sides where all too many of these were hacked off their matrix when collected. As far as size, this is also a large cluster, of which I have seen few over the years. It came from the well known collection of Marion Stuart, heiress to the Carnation fortune, when her collection was sold by Wayne Thompson (with help from formerly retired dealer Dr. Gary Hansen, who had sold Stuart many of the pieces decades before) in 2001, and has been buried in a collection since that time.
MD-274942 - Euclase - - Archived Espírito Santo, Southeast Region, Brazil miniature, 4.0 x 3.3 x 1.5 cm.
4.0 x 3.3 x 1.5 cm. This is a stunning gem crystal of euclase, not from Ouro Preto in Minas Gerais, but from Espirito Santo (I had never heard of one from here before). It is transparent, lustrous, and exhibits a light, pastel, sea-foam-blue color. There is minor edge wear on the left side, but the termination is absolutely pristine. A superb example from a surprising new find. I am told this was the best of them, and it certainly was far better than others I did see. The color in the first photo is more accurate...it somehow shows more bluish in the other photo, an artifact.
