13.0 x 6.0 x 5.7 cm. A superb cabinet specimen festooned with large, lustrous, emerald-green euchroite crystals from a classic locality - Libethen, Slovak Republic. Euchroite is a rareE copper arsenate and this is simply a spectacular and important specimen. This is a rare treasure for the overall color and significance. Probably collected in the mid to late 1800s, this was originally known as herrengrundite.

6.8 x 3.5 x 3.2 cm. Four sharp, emerald-green euchroite crystals to 5 mm are set in vug atop sulfide-rich matrix on this classic old-time specimen from the Type Locality - Lubietova, Slovakia. These are fairly large crystals of this rare copper arsenate. Smaller crystals are nicely scattered elsewhere on the piece.

2.0 x 1.9 x 0.8 cm (largest). An excellent, 2-piece set of lustrous euchroite thumbnails from the Type Locality – Lubietova (Libethen), Slovakia. The larger thumb features lustrous, rich green crystals in parallel-growth while the smaller piece has much larger, very sharp, blocky crystals. These specimens show two distinctly different crystal habits of this rare copper arsenate. Classic, older material. Ex. Tarnowski Collection.
OLDEURO-03 - Euchroite - $ 7600 Lubietova (Libethen), Bystrica Region, Slovakia cabinet, 14.1 x 5.6 x 4.4 cm
A significant specimen from the TYPE LOCALITY both for its size, and for the huge, sharp crystal on matrix that is so seldom seen. That large dominant crystal is just a hair over 1 cm in size, and it is SHARP AND EQUANT. So few euchroites reach this size, and retain such symmetry, it seems. I have seen only a few bigger, and those not so well placed on nice matrix. Overall the specimen is attractive because of the covering of euchroite elsewhere upon it, also inclduing some smaller sharp crystals and in places a more velvety druse. This is an important specimen from THE significant locality for this species. Note the date of 1893 on the second old label, and the listing of the country as Hungary on the Krantz label, dating this piece quite nicely in time!

One almost never sees rich plates of euchroite crystals, as opposed to sparse coverage or tiny crystals on big matrices. THis kind of dense coverage by relatively large crystals is very significant. TUC10-29 - Euchroite (huge crystal) - $ 2500 SOLD Cramer Creek, northeast of Missoula, Montana, USA miniature, 3.5 x 2.2 x 0.5 cm ex. Bart Cannon
This is a ridiculously large euchroite crystal that perhaps is the largest American example of the species, according to some who I have shown it to. I have not heard of or seen any larger ones. It was collected by Bart Cannon, a well known collector of NE US minerals, in the 1970s and traded out of his collection sometime after. It is a unique, deep , vivid blue color that is hard to describe, but not similar to the euchroite from Europe in color or crystal form, by ay stretch. The piece is repaired in the middle and the photos show it at its worst, head-on right at the line of repair, to be honest about it. However when you look at it on a shelf, from an angle up or down, you do not see this crack as much. Now, it COULD be made into a truly incredible thumbnail specimen simply by undoing the repair. The result would be an arrowhead-shaped thumbnail crystal of 2 cm tall, 2 cm wide, and 4mm thickness. The lustre, and color, and habit, all make it leap out. It would be a world class thumbnail (without the repair) and in any case is a major US specimen in either size category. If it doesn't sell, I think I will have to donate to the Smithsonian as its the kind of rock that belongs there.
