9.9 x 6.1 x 3.2 cm. Epidotes from Pakistan are well-known, but this is actually quite unusual: a plate of matrix, with epidote crystals both sticking up and lying across its surface, in combination with transparent quartz crystals. The matrix is actually a conglomerate made up partly of thousands of micro-epidotes.

20.9 x 16.9 x 10.9 cm. A very large and dramatic specimen from the exciting finds in China around 3 years ago - deep green, lustrous crystals of epidote scattered amongst quartz crystals. Some of these crystals have red hematite inclusions inside them. We have shot both sides of this large specimen, as there are crystals on both sides; this was a ridge in a pocket that allowed crystals to form on both sides.

Prehnite, Adularia, Epidote from Gneiss quarries, Arvigo, Calanca Valley, Misox (Mesolcina Valley), Grischun (Grisons; Graubünden), Switzerland [db_pics/mdpics/MD-205922b.jpg]

8.5 x 5.8 x 3.2 cm. A fine combination specimen from the gneiss quarries at Arvigo, Switzerland. An attractive cluster of lustrous and translucent, helmet-shaped, pastel-green prehnite crystals is well-placed on a matrix plate covered with snow-white orthoclase variety adularia. The plate is richly sprinkled with gemmy, acicular, olive-green epidote crystals. Collecting is now forbidden at the quarries. Ex. Rolf Wein Collection, acquired in 1967.

Quartz, Epidote from Balochistan (Baluchistan), Pakistan [db_pics/mdpics/MD-205933a.jpg]

6.3 x 1.2 x 0.9 cm. A fine, doubly terminated, water-clear quartz crystal highlighted by preferential inclusions of epidote in the center of the piece and smaller quartz crystals. The double termination at one end is striking. The large quartz crystal is damage-free and the small quartz has one healed termination and one broken termination. From recent finds in Baluchistan, Pakistan.

This fat, sharp, lustrous crystal has rich coverage of gemmy points of pistachio-green fire and the termination has a striking, chevron pattern. The base is nicely accented by a cluster of quartz crystals. Ex. Gene Meieran Collection.

6.2 x 4.7 x 4.2 cm. A classic, old-time specimen from Michigan’s Copper Country. Copper in calcite pieces have always been one of the most sought after mineral species from this historic district. This superb piece features copper in calcite crystals on both sides of the gossan matrix, which is richly coated with two generations of epidote. The "A" side has a gorgeous cluster of glassy, transparent calcite crystals with super patina included copper. The two-parallel-growth crystals are doubly terminated and are 3.7 cm long. The calcite cluster on the "B" side also has gemmy and lustrous crystals and the matrix has a rich coating of the two generations of epidote. Another striking feature of this fine piece are the discrete micro copper crystals scattered about on both sides. Specimens of this quality probably date from around 1900 or earlier. Ex. John Ydren Collection.

7.9 x 7.1 x 3.8 cm. This combination has been coming out of Mali over the past few years. But, this superb specimen really stands out, for several reasons: size, balance of epidotes with prehnite, and completeness - it is all crystal, all the way around. The back is dominated by epidotes, so the preferred display face is the one where you have these wonderful translucent green balls of prehnite framed by the dark green, nearly black epidotes.

8.8 x 2.5 x 1.8 cm. An extraordinary American pseudomorph specimen out of the collection of Jaime Bird - a single large, rectangular crystal of epidote that has been replaced by hematite, which in turn has been ectomorphed by a layer of spiky quartz crystals.
