Lustrous, striated and gemmy, deep olive-green epidote crystals to 1.0 cm cover the epidote matrix from this classic Colorado locality, the Calumet Iron Mine. Excellent material from this locality, with super-trivial bruising to only two crystals. Ex Richard Hauck Collection. 8.0 x 8.0 x 3.4 cm
6.8 x 3.8 x 1.8 cm. An elegant spray of deep bottle-green crystals of epidote, with the unusually aesthetic addition of a transparent quartz crystal lying across the bottom of the spray. Just a very few of the terminations are incomplete, and they are hard to find amongst the naturally rough terminations of the other crystals. This is a super example for the size of a famous find of the mid-1990s brought to market by Harvey Gordon at the time.
Gemmy quartz crystals with pretty deep moss green epidote crystals on, and in some cases included INSIDE, the quartz crystals. These pretty combination specimens were one of the exciting finds of early this year. This specimen is in fine shape, with just a couple of minor contacts on a couple of the quartz crystals. 11.0 x 5.9 x 5.4cm
One of this year''s really nice finds, pretty green epidote crystals intermixed with gemmy quartz crystals. One of the quartz crystals is dinged, but there is so much going on here that you can forgive this minor detraction. 9.8 x 7.5 x 3.5cm
A sharp, highly lustrous and striated, dark olive-green epidote crystal from the renowned Knappenwand locality in Austria. This is classic, old-time material. The contact point on the right side is certainly not detracting. This piece has a Washington Roebling number on the back and is from the Richard Hauck Collection. 3.3 x 1.5 x 0.7 cm
A rich cluster of Swiss epidote, much rarer than from Austria. The crystals measure to 2.5 cm. Some are not complete, but most are terminated, and quite lustrous. 5.9 x 4.1 x 3.7cm
This is a fine old specimen of Swiss epidote crystals on matrix that came out of the Hauck Collection last year. The crystals are VERY lustrous and gemmy! 7.9 x 5.1 x 2.8cm
From last year''s exciting find of gemmy quartz crystals surrounded by deep green, lustrous, platy epidotes. 14.2 x 12.1 x 5.1cm
A large and nicely-balanced specimen from the exciting find last year of green epidote crystals on gemmy quartz crystals. The quartz crystals stick out aesthetically in all directions, and some of them actually have epidote crystals included inside! 12.6 x 9.8 x 5.8cm
A good Japan Law is a nice thing to have anytime, but to find on with good luster and included with Epidote makes this a gem in its own right. 2 x 1.6 x .4 cm
Sharp doubly-terminated Epidote with good deep-green color and excellent luster. Way above average for the locality, and comparable to most Epidotes from Pakistan these days. As well, this is a doubly-terminated floater and so highly unusual! 2.5 x .4 x .4 cm
Superlative Copper from one of the world’s great localities. The Copper is very well-crystallized, led by a sharp euhedral 1 cm , HOLLOW, crystal. These crystals are intergrown with numerous quality quartz crystals. This is a great thumb! 2.8 x 1.5 x 1.5 cm
Some of the best new Prehnite specimens to hit the market in a while are those that have been recently found in Mali. These specimens are some of the nicest gem quality Prehnites that I''ve seen from any locality. This specimen consists of a superb, very large (for this locality), well-crystallized, GEM QUALITY, water-green color spherical aggregate of PREHNITE associated with a few sharp, lustrous, prismatic dark brownish-green crystals of Epidote . The PREHNITE has thousands of very sharp micro terminations all over the "ball" and this specimen is gemmy enough to facet a nice gemstone. I think this is a very attractive and highly displayable specimen of a species that is often overlooked in the mineral world. 5.4 x 4.5 x 3.8cm
From the new find in the Fall of 2004. This is a great specimen simultaneously representing two members of the Epidote group. Epidote forms and isomorphic series with Clinozoisite where Epidote is the iron-rich end member and Clinozoisite is the iron-deficient end member. The beauty of this piece is that no analysis is necessary as it is very clear where the Epidote stops and the Clinozoisite begins. This specimen features several, sharp, lustrous, prismatic, translucent, deep pistachio green crystals of Epidote that sharply grade into gemmier, peach/tan color termations of Clinozoisite. This is a great example of how two individual mineral species can sometimes occur in the same crystal as is often the case in many Tourmaline species. Aside from being a scientific marvel, this is actually a very beautiful specimen ! I honestly don''t think I''ve seen a piece like this one from any locality before this one. 6.2 x 5.3 x 4.7cm
A BEAUTIFUL, 1.7 cm, lustrous, twinned and striated, dark oliive-green epidote crystal nicely set on massive epidote matrix covered with transparent quartz needles and smaller epidote crystals. Dr. Gary Hansen personally collected this showy piece at the Green Monster Mine, probably in the 1960s or early 70s., according to his label still with it . it was still in his personal collection some 30 years later when i bought it 5.7 x 4.9 x 3.7 cm
