A excellent Michigan combination piece of a vug of bright, flattened copper crystals surrounded by quartz, epidote, prehnite and calcite from the Globe Mine. A large 1.3 cm calcite crystal is on the back. The locality is now a prison facility, so there wont be any more of these and it has value for that alone, aside from the copper! 4.6 x 3.7 x 2.1 cm
4.4 x 3.5 x 2.9 cm. A complete-all-around ball of translucent prehnite nicely perched on epidote crystals. This is a fine miniature of great aesthetics.
This is a cluster of deep green epidote crystals to 1.8 cm that have grown on a quartz point, having passed through two notable collections (Marion Godshaw and Tim Sherburn) . A very intricate and pretty locality specimen! 3.6 x 3.3 x 2.3 cm
5.5 x 4.5 x 3.9 cm. A fine combination specimen from the small find at this uncommon locality in Mali. Translucent, light green prehnite botryoids with frosted surfaces are aesthetically attached to both sides of a bar of lustrous, olive-green epidote crystals. The prehnites glow a beautiful green when backlit.
3.8 x 2.3 x 0.3 cm. It has become increasingly more difficult to obtain top specimens from this locality, especially such fine quality specimens like this one. Epidote is one of the most well known of all the Alpine cleft species in the world, and some of the finest Epidote specimens in the world have been coming out of Pakistan in recent years. These specimens are seemingly identical to the classic Alpine specimens from Europe, and in certain instances, have surpassed the European specimens for quality and gemminess. Some of the most well known Epidote specimens from the Alps are the highly sought after "Faden" specimens. This crystal group exhibits the classic "Faden" (German word for string) form that is well known from this locality. It is a superb, sharp, lustrous, gem/gemmy, green color crystal group with a few well-defined "Fadens" running perpendicular across the b (010) face of the crystals. Ex. Richard Kosnar Collection.
10.2 x 7.0 x 5.5 cm. Lustrous, striated, olive-green epidote prisms to 3.8 cm nicely the cover the front of the massive epidote matrix on this fine cabinet specimen from recent finds at a less well-known Chinese locale for epidote. These blocky epidotes bear resemblance to the famous pieces from the Green Monster Mine in Alaska. New find.
A study specimen of these species, ex Harvard. Typical massive, brick-red hancockite and golden-brown andradite with minor black franklinite. A study specimen in the museum. ex. Dr. Gary Hansen dealer stock and not shown since early 1980s. 4 x 3.6 x 2 cm
8.5 x 6.0 x 3.5 cm. An excellent epidote on quartz combination specimen from this small Chinese quarry from a find about 3-5 years ago. Bundles of lustrous, green epidote crystals richly coat the base of both sides of the very showy jackstraw cluster of lustrous, lightly frosted quartz crystals. The dominating quartz cluster at the top is 3.4 cm long.
A very large, green to black epidote crystal from a VERY UNCOMMON Madagascar locality. The crystal is complete all-around, with a chisel termination and the trivial amount of rubbing is insignificant. I have never seen an epidote from this locality. Old material of dealer Dr. Gary Hansen and not shown since the early 1980s! 6.9 x 6.0 x 4.1 cm
An EXQUISITE epidote specimen, one of the most elegant we have seen from anywhere, that is far better in person than in the photos (this one comes SATISFACTION GUARANTEED). The spray of finely-terminated epidote is perched on the tips of silky, terminated quartz crystals. it was actually photographed in a position different from what we would have chosen - in reality, it sits naturally, without a base, with the cluster of the the best quartz crystals just below and in front of, and setting off, the lustrous spray of epidote sitting on the tips of the quartz crystals in the back. 5.0 x 3.8 x 3.0 cm
A stunning and uncommon combo specimen from Azerbaijan (better known for military unrest). It features a beautiful translucent ball of calcite on a bed of velvety moss-green epidote, with gemmy quartz crystals adding an accent and euhedral magnetite crystals on the back! 6.2 x 5.5 x 4.2 cm
8.3 x 4.8 x 4.7 cm. A classic, very showy, two-sided specimen of vugs filled with sharp, highly lustrous, gemmy, olive-green epidote crystals from the premiere world-wide locality for epidote. Nests of blue-green, fibrous byssolite hairs are richly scattered on the epidote crystals and on the massive epidote matrix. The largest prism is 3.4 cm and the isolated, projecting crystal is curved. Most of these were found prior to the 1950s, and as far as over 100 years back. Very highly representative of both species and renowned locale. Ex. Kaar Collection.
5.5 x 2.8 x 1.5 cm. A beautiful and sculptural specimen of stacked disks of lustrous, translucent, brown titanite crystals aesthetically highlighted by a protruding cluster of gemmy, parallel-growth, olive-green epidote crystals from finds around five years ago at Alchuri, Pakistan. This is really uncommon specimen that is complete-all-around and nearly pristine, except for the small contact at one end. Ex. Ed David Collection.
4.7 x 4.5 x 2.3 cm. A good reference locality specimen of epidote from this classic locale. Ex. Harold Urish Collection.
5.3 x 2.8 x 1.5 cm. An interesting, complete-all-around and pristine cluster of graduated length, parallel-growth, tabular epidote crystals from Peru. The dark olive-green blades are highly lustrous, have sharp chisel terminations, showy lighter green highlights and lots of flashes of internal yellow-green fire. An excellent Peru epidote specimen.
