RH02-07 - Embolite (Chlorargyrite) - $ 2000 SOLD Broken Hill, New South Wales, Australia small cabinet, 7.3 x 6.9 x 4.4 cm (LARGE!) ex. Richard Hauck
Extremely rich small cabinet specimen of chlorargyrite crystals with minor cerussite (rare association!) from Broken Hill. These were found in the early 1900s and this would be consider5ed a VERY RICH SPECIMEN! The crystals range from brown to green in color and have a wet, vitreous luster - not so ugly in person as you might think. These specimens are hard to find and very historical, having come out of the ground prior to WWII. Minor bruising present at a couple of areas on the piece but given the size and richness, I think that is forgiveable. Old E. Mitchell Gunnell collection and Hauck collection labels included.
RH3-10 - Embolite (now Chlorargyrite) from 1902 - $ 400 SOLD Silver King Mine, San Bernardino Co., California, USA small cabinet, 5.2 x 5.0 x 3.3 cm ex. Richard Hauck
This, silver chloride, is a rare mineral species from places like Broken Hill, NSW, Australia. From the USA and in particular, California, it is rarer still. I have only ever seen a few out there for sale. This nodule has on one surface a sparkling druse of light brown to cocoa colored microcrystals. Discovered in 1902 and an important historical and locality specimen!
TUC10-335 - Embolite (Bromian Chlorargyrite) - $ 8500 SOLD Block 14 Opencut, Broken Hill, Yancowinna Co., New South Wales, Australia cabinet, 11.8 x 9.0 x 4.8 cm ex. Eric Asselborn
Embolite, once a valid species, is today called Bromian Chlorargyrite. This VERY LARGE, 330-gram specimen of intergrown "embolite" is a superb and large example for these old finds. It is from the Eric Asselborn Collection, and he got it from an heir of part of the Albert Chapman Collection after Chapman passed away. It is richly 3-dimensional and attractive, as these go.
