This deep green DOUBLY-TERMINATED crystal has superb luster on all sides and on each trigonal termination. As a bonus, there is a small intergrown crystal exiting aesthetically near the major termination. This is simply a huge crysatl for a Brumado dravite, where uvite is also the more common varieatl in any case. IN PERSON, it is a translucent, righ green color!

2.3 x 1.2 x 0.9 cm. These bright green tourmalines are exceedingly rare and sought-after by collectors and gem cutters - definitely amongst the very most valuable tourmalines on earth. They get their unique color from a trace of vanadium, with perhaps a small amount of chromium (see Vol. 40, No. 5 of the September-October 2009 Mineralogical Record). This relatively large crystal is complete all around and terminated, with bright green color, particularly towards the top and fine gemminess. It weighs 8 grams.

11.2 x 9.9 x 7.8 cm. Just LOOK at this monster! It is a gigantic dravite tourmaline crystal, complete all around, a FLOATER with all faces intact, and with textbook form! This is the typical dark brown color of a dravite - not the most beautiful variety of tourmaline, you would have to say, but it is what it is. And for a crystal of just about ANYTHING, much less a tourmaline, it is pretty stunning. Those are bits of muscovite you see embedded in the faces. This big guy weighs in at 3.3 pounds! Ex. 4.5 x 4.4 x 4.2 cm. Dravite tourmalines may not be the most beautiful on earth, with their dark coffee color and usual lack of transparency (particularly as they get larger), but they are one of the more uncommon tourmaline varietals. And this is a BIG one, an old-timer from Australia. It has fine sharp faces and good luster. On the underside, it is intergrown with the matrix rock, but complete with faces. This whopper weighs 142 grams. From the collection of noted California collector Charles Hansen.

4.9 x 3.9 x 3.5 cm. A wonderfully formed crystal of dark "dravite" tourmaline from Australia, from the notable California collection of Charles Hansen. What is remarkable about this crystal is its eye-catching staggered terminations - it is actually a compound crystal composed of dozens of intergrown sub-crystals. What may appear to be rough spots or mineralization on some of the faces is NOT - it is just reflection - the crystal is in great shape.

6.3 x 4.8 x 4.8 cm. This is a giant crystal of dravite tourmaline, of the dark coffee color characteristic of this species, from Western Australia. It is very sharp and complete, and on one side that appears to have once been a contact, two subcrystals have grown out of it. Likely the large crystal came loose in the pocket, allowing for the original contact faces to heal and these to grow.

2.4 x 1.3 x 1.1 cm. These green tourmalines from the Merelani Mine, which get their bright green color from trace amounts of vanadium, possibly with a small amount of chromium (see Vol. 40, Number 5 - September-OCtober 2009 Mineralogical Record), are rare, and highly sought-after by collectors due to their amazing color. This one is complete all around, terminated, and has good luster.

8.4 x 8.4 x 6.2 cm. A wonderfully formed pair of dravite crystals composed of smaller, complex, interpenetrating crystals from Australia. The lustrous, blocky, black crystals look just like columnar basalt. Complete-all-around with only modest contacting on one end. A classic example for the locality.

3.3 x 2.2 x 1.8 cm. This is a lustrous, transparent, green dravite tourmaline, 2.5 cm in length, weighing 66.65 carats, crystallized on transparent quartz. This specimen has been contacted, mainly on the back side, nevertheless, its depth of color and transparency are outstanding. Tourmaline of this intense hue, due to vanadium with perhaps a bit of chromium, is just incredibly rare.

A beautiful, lustrous, gemmy and sharp, green chrome dravite tourmaline, with a bit of matrix, from a very uncommon locality in Tanzania. Chrome dravite is an rare tourmaline varietal and this is a good one making for a wonderful thumbnail specimen. Ex Ed Ruggiero Collection. 1.4 x 0.9 x 0.9 cm

A pristine, very sharp and lustrous, brown dravite crystal from the classic Australian locality of Yinnietharra. These are generally considered to be the worlds best dravites. Ex Ed Ruggiero Collection, who purchased this piece at the 1975 Tucson Show. 4.8 x 4.8 x 3.7 cm
